Killn' The Cube: My powerlifting venture begins

jimbuick said:
Who did they even play? (can never keep up with TNF)

Miami. We played sloppy and didn't deserve the win, but that's a ridiculous way to lose. If Dalton gets the ball off and even if we don't convert, punt it and let our D (the best part of our team) have a shot to stop them.

Lol welcome to the plight of Dallas Cowboy fans everywhere.

It's hard being a Cincinnati fan dude. If the Reds or Bengals ever win a chip, I'm going to have a stroke/sh1t my pants.

Who is your team?

jimbuick said:
Eagles/Astros.

You don't have to explain that to me bro.

Oh, forgot you were an Eagles fan. I have Vick on my fantasy team. I should have known better seeing as Smoker was blowing him up and he is approximately wrong about everything related to sports, lol.

When someone drafted him in my league I was going "what, you want 3 decent weeks before he's injured". 4 weeks later, injured.

Yeah, ha. He was my second to last pick and thought it was worth a shot if Chips offense lived up to the hype. Obviously I was wrong.

Week 6:

DE DL: 1x5- 315

DE squat: 2x5- 225

Thought I was pretty well recovered until I squatted. Hips feel like ass, which made it extremely hard to get into proper position.

Lunges: 8(each leg)x3: 40

Just wanted to get a good stretch.

Romanian DL:
225x8x2
225x10

AB roll out: 10x2

Plank: 2 min

Not a great day. I need to let my hips recover, hopefully they'll be g2g by Monday.

2 minute plank...you get the jimmy shakes?

Lol, not too bad. I'm working myself back up, I need to push myself a little longer.

In college they would put a 45 on our back, make us plank for 2 min 30 sec and If anyone went down the whole team had to restart. I've seen grown men break.

Damn! I gotta step it up.

If college kids can do it on the Ramon noodle diet I can with the everything diet lol

Yeah dude you don't know how much you can push yourself until you have to.

Not only Ramon noodle diet, buy 3/4 of us were hungover 90% of the time. I can't tell you how many times I threw up jäger doing conditioning In the pool.

Puke in the pool? Nice! I remember one 6am Saturday morning lift the morning after my best friend's birthday (we had a challenge match. Two man teams. One bottle of wine apiece and split a bottle of limoncello. We won in 40min flat), I fell flat on my back doing cleans twice in a row, and my coach was standing over me with legitimate concern: "What's wrong buddy? Do you have an ear infection?" He was dedicated and didn't understand that regular college kids will show up drunk to things from time to time.

Dude I remember this one time a girl threw up in my friends hot tub. We had to clean up the next day before his parents got back, but forgot that.

1 day later they found it. They were not happy

Dead- 350 (pr) boys so I hope I get it
Shrugs til the cows come home
Face pulls til the cows come home
Light ohp.

Hahaha, that's awesome. Good times, I could spend an entire day telling stories of my 3 years living down there. I wasn't the most productive at school, but I wouldn't change a thing.

Jeeze, somebody better have at least gotten a blow job..

Edit: for condolences. Not while she was hammered. I felt the need to clarify, lol.

Week 6: conjugate method

DE bench: 2x6- 225

Bar speed felt great. I'm grooving on my bench right now, it's the most consistent movement ATM.

Standing OHP:
135x7
155x7
160x7

WG pull-ups:
5x4: BW+35
BWx12

JM press:
115x6x2
125x6

Incline DB curl: 15x2: 25's

Concentration curl: 15x1- 25

SGHP SS pull aparts:
135x6/30
155x6/30
165x6/30

Ab wheel roll out: 10x2

Banded pallof press: 10x3- average band

Felt awesome today. Got 10 hrs of sleep which I needed desperately. I should focus more on my sleep, just very difficult with my schedule.

Week 7: conjugate

ME Deadlift: 495x1. (Missed rep 2)

First time deadlifting over 335 in two weeks and it showed. Terrible day.

Deadlift backdown:
405x3x1x1x1

Pause squat: 3x5- 225

Hips feel off. I'm feeling a pinching sensation in the front if my hips as I reach the hole, which is causing my hips to swim.

Romanian Deadlift:
225x10
245x10
275x10
295x10

Reverse hyper: 30x3- BW

Banded side bends: 15x3

In and outs: 30x2

Pretty bad day honestly. Everything was off, I had to sack up and finish strong.

That hip issue is common here. Try and find some internal rotation mobility stuff, do things like couch stretches to open the hips.

I have bro. It has gotten better, but it's going to take at least a week to be 100%.

Deload time! You're workin big weights weekly, gotta rest yourself.

This helps me with that anterior pinch. Not sure if
you have the same issue but it sounds like it. Just up weight on that knee and push that femur into the socket. you'll feel a good stretch

Thanks sean. I have been doing something similar, but not quite the same. It def has helped.

I've never had this issue before, so I got to make sure it's not a lingering issue. I have a feeling once it dissipates I won't run into it again. I'm 99% sure I know where it stemmed from.

Looking lean and mean Cincy!

Taking the day off asides from some mobility work. Erectors demolished.

Does anyone have a good source for conditioning type stuff I can do after ME lower body days? I'm wanting some structure, not a go in and do what I feel type thing.

I like to do basic calisthenics and movements such as jumping jacks, burpees, jump rope, mountain climbers, etc.

If you have a prowler, that's all you need.

Thanks.

No prowler unfortunately, but I have been using the sled.

I've done them before. It's great. I don't have two short BB's to use tho. I got to use DB's.

I don't like using db but work with what ya got. Maybe buy some handles or make em if you can. Good investment but not essential or necessary. But if you got the xtra cash go for it
