KetoIsoCaproate...KIC

Invalid Link Removed

I cannot believe I'm having such a hard time finding info on this. This has been used effectively in hospital settings on humans, burn victims in particular I believe.

I'll try to find more info.

I've been trying to get some for awhile, but I really did not want to go through China or have to buy 25 kilos (it is expensive stuff).

One of the US vendors should have it soon, so we should be able to get it done.

Pretty interesting stuff, imo.

"What is it?

Alpha-ketoisocaproate (KIC) is a keto acid of the amino acid leucine. Branched-chain keto acids are very similar to branched-chain amino acids, the only difference being the presence of a keto group instead of an amino group. KIC is anti-catabolic, which means it contributes to muscle growth by helping to move the body from a catabolic (muscle wasting) to anabolic (muscle building) state.

Who should use it?

Since any intense physical exercise is catabolic, some feel that KIC will be of immense value to bodybuilders, strength athletes and regular gym users wanting to gain muscle size and strength.

How does it work?

The interest in KIC started when Dr. Steve Nissen began researching the amino acid leucine (pronounced loo-seen) and how it affects muscle growth. Nissen and his colleagues discovered that it was a compound called alpha-ketoisocaproate (known simply as KIC) that was active in animals.

Every muscle in your body is made up of millions of muscle cells. When you exercise, these cells are subject to tremendous amounts of stress. Think of them like a car tyre - when you train, you create several punctures in the tyre. Proteins then leak from these damaged cells until they are repaired several days later.

KIC works in a very similar way to HMB, in that it plugs the leaks in muscle cells, leading to greater gains in lean mass, muscle strength and a reduction in muscle damage during periods of intense training [2]. Most experts believe that KIC is most effective when combined with HMB, as there is very little evidence to show that it's effective when taken alone, unless very large doses are used.

How should I use it?

The standard dose is 50-100 milligrams of KIC for every 1000 milligrams of HMB. Take 150-300 milligrams daily.

What results should I expect?

KIC and HMB have a significant effect on muscle size and strength within 2-3 weeks. Most users report feeling a difference in strength after 10-12 days.

What should I use it with?

KIC should be used in combination with HMB and a diet rich in protein with a high biological value (such as whey)."

Pretty annoying tho that I don't have a clue what the hell this so-called 'HMB' is that they refer to...

Ah, Google is your friend!

"HMB stands for beta-hydroxy beta-methylbutyrate. It's a metabolite of the branched-chain amino acid leucine. HMB is found in foods of both plant and animal origin, and HMB is also normally produced in the body. (Depending on the nutritional program, from .3 grams to 1 gram of HMB is produced in the body per day.) Its precursors are the amino acid leucine and the keto acid KIC. Certain plants such as alfalfa and plant products such as corn silage appear to have relatively large concentrations of HMB. Grapefruit and catfish also contain relatively high concentrations of this nutrient. However, similar to various vitamins and other micronutrients, it is extremely difficult and impractical to consume enough of these foods on a regular basis to provide the full benefits of HMB. It is probably much more practical to use a dietary supplement containing pure HMB."

This would be extremely awesome.

I just ran out of the mass supply I had, and now I don't know where else to get it.

Are you planning on selling this other stuff -HMB or beta-hydroxy beta-methylbutyrate- also? Cause that would make a great duo! =

There are a couple of supplement co.'s who sell HMB, EAS is among them, but off course I would much rather have this in bulk also.

I suggest you guys get alpha-KIC.
The KIC stack by MT provides about 7g a day.

Regular KIC, 300-600mg for the goodies, but harder to measure.

I don't know what this KIC stack by MT is. Please explain.

HMB is nasty, nasty stuff to deal with in bulk. I'm sure it would sell well (had it before) but it is just so smelly I do not want to do it.

Ah, okay, fair enough.

And how about selling caps with both HMB and KIC in the reccomended 10:1 ratio?

Won't be long before other company's are gonna come out with something like this, I guess, so why not beat them to it?
