Jump Squats

I do the jump squats now starting with a bar that weight like 20lbs I think.
I do 3 sets of 10 reps. How dangerous do u guys think this move is? How effective? Really seems to work youll be exhausted after one set of trying to jump your highest 10 times in a row.

yup same here,.... i think it would be more so the equivalent of "bouncing" out of the bottom on squats. The idea of that much force put on the knees makes me cringe.

Yea you got to land with your knees bent of course, and you use MUCH less weight than regular squats obviously. Really ****in hits the legs hard man.

LOL oh i know they hit hard,... football coach in HS was crazy about them,.... but also remember, you may use ALOT less weight, but your feet are also leaving the ground.... hence your body weight slamming down on the knees plus the weight your using. Good exercise i guess if using little to no weight,... but they never liked my knees.

I would just squat normal and also throw in some plyo box jumps as seperate. IMO.

something you may want to try:
Box/Bench Squats:
keep your regular heavy weight but set up a bench or box behind you that will put you at parralel. lower yourself down onto the bench/box and come to a complete stop on it. then, explode back up.
Take it a step further??
Do this with bands or chains if your gym has them.
