joh408's training log

That squat volume would've worn me out. Same with the dreads if the #'s were slightly up.

Nice work Justin.

Building up the conventional again. Don't mind lowering the weights and hammering form. We will see if it pays off in a few weeks

Haha new gym doesn't have that great of places to film from. May need to get a stand or something to prove I lift a little bit.

Thanks man. Conventional seems to be a lot harder for my build but I'm committed to getting it up

I bought my little stand from Amazon for $3

Man, I committed 9 weeks to sumo and couldn't get it down

Ordered one last night, should be here Friday. My golds is kinda cramped so we will see how it works

I've been doing conventional for a few months now but restarted in June so it's taken me a bit to get my strength back. Hopefully I come out of this stronger

Gotta do what you gotta do. Needed to film it and all I could find was a black foam pad. Bought an iPhone stand but didn't have it with me. Next time!

I hate when my video gets out of focus! Legitimately ticks me off lol

Just loosens up scar tissue that has given me issues for the last couple months. Should probably get graston done

While flossing, I mash my elbow with a lacrosse ball. I'm going to try flossing, and rolling on a barbell like the vid. Thanks mayne

Thanks for the vid man. Trying that today.

You have just completely changed my fronts squats. Thanks man!

Everything was feeling slow today and my unrack was the worst it's been I think ever. Didn't get my hips completely under the bar and almost caught the hooks on the way out. Would have gone down with that weight on my back haha

Catch up? I think I'm there or past you haha a svelte 217 at 5'8"

Strong squats Sir! The program you are doing looks pretty good.

Thanks man. I found it from duramax on here and it looked good. Triples the first 3 weeks, doubles the next 3 and then singles the last 3. All with lots of volume squats afterwards

Great vid there Justin... nice labels on those bottles too lol

Thanks Simon! BB.com had some nice deals this past week so I decided to make some purchases

You have way more in you on conventional. Especially if you figure out how to stop shooting froward when you get it off the ground.

Need to fix tightness before the pull and maybe add some more upper back strength. Still hate conventional. Not sure what happened in the last 6 months but form went to sht

Mind if I lurk around and check ur log out??

Of course! Welcome!

How's it going buddy

Pete! Great to see you back around here. Things are going pretty good, moved to CA, found a new gym and have been trying to get my strength back after a little break.

How bout you?

Don't pay much attention to the beginning portion of this next video, where he talks about mistakes (they don't really apply to you), but his explanation of the setup is what I do and it works great. It'll keep your arms in-line too.

On my warmups, or the 'no-effort' pulls, I practice trying to get my shins as vertically straight as possible while sitting back without holding the bar, stopping just before I fall back. Helps me somehow...

Doing good, glad to be back. I summed everything up on Petes pad on why I was away. What park of California?

Still going strong?

I saw that. Glad you're back on track. Happy to see you around these parts again. Moved to San Jose

Still going strong?

I have been slacking off. Had a few travel days last week along with getting ready to move so furniture shopping since we moved with only our clothes. My dad came into town during the weekend so I golfed with him and I had a hockey game.

Only got in light bench last week. Gonna squat today and maybe deadlift because it's squat deload week so I could do heavy deads before and still knock out some volume work for squats

Slack away my friend. Give me time to catch your squat. ;)
