Jim's Powerlifting Training

Cambered Oly Squat: 15kg x 10, 65kg x 5, 95kg x 3, 115kg x 1, 145kg x 1, 165kg x 1, 170kg x 1

Invalid Link Removed

Drop: 144kg x 6

18" DL (suspended TPB. ). : 170kg x 1, 190kg x F

a1. Hyperextension: BW x 20
a2. HLR: BW x 15

18" deadlift is going to be a bad event for me. That is not a movement that feels very good at all, 190kg did not move and it felt like something bad was about to happen so I shut it down.

ME Upper

Low Inc. Axle Bench: 15kg x 15, 45kg x 10, 65kg x 5, 85kg x 2, 95kg x 1, 102.5kg x 1 (225.5# PR) 87.5kg x 5 x 2

CG Axle Flat Bench: 65kg x 10, 85kg x 10 x 2, 85kg x 6

a1. Dips: BW x 10, BW x 8
a2. Lateral Raise: 20 x 15 x 2

Just under 60 minutes today. Hot as hell in the shed today.

Quick 30 minute assistance day.

OH Axle Yates Row: 15kg x 10, 55kg x 8, 75kg x 8, 75kg x 6

a1. Strict DB Row: 65 x 12, 75 x 12
a2. DB Shrugs: 65 x 12 x 2

a1. Rear Delt Pull apart: Red x 30 x 2
a2. Rollouts (unassisted): BW x 8 x 2

Ouch. Hands didn't want to play anymore with those axle rows, and my abs were cramping after the last set of rollouts. I usually have my wife hold my feet for rollouts, but I told her not to because I need a stronger midsection.

DE Lower, 45 minutes total.

Close to 100 degrees + humidity.

Hi Bar Squat: 70kg x 2 x 8 (against red bands)

Con. DL: 120kg x 1 x 8

DB RDL: 70s x 10 x 3
GHR: BW x 10 x 2, BW x 8

Abs are sore from rollouts.

Ah, kg's, the inferior measurement of weight.

Late night dynamic bench last night.

Even late at night it was still unbearably hot lol.

Swiss Bar Bench (against orange): 67.5kg x 3 x 9 (3 sets at each handle)

1 Arm DB OHP: 55 x 8 x 3

a1. Chinning Triangle Pulldown: 110 x 12, 120 x 12 ,130 x 10
a2. Band Facepull: Red x 30 x 3

And today I went out to the Metroflex Conroe to train some events and sign up for the contest.

ME Lower

SSB DL stance Box Squat (against monster minis): 28kg x 5, 78kg x 1, 118kg x 1, 138kg x 1, 158kg x 1, 168kg x 1, 178kg x 1 (391#)

Comp Stance SSB Squat: 128kg x 6, 133kg x 6

Belt Squat (flat shoe): 160 x 20 x 2

a1. Rollout (unassisted): BW x 6, BW x 5 negatives
a2. Back Extension: BW x 25 x 2

Ouch. Didn't have any core strength left after the first set of rollouts, so I hit some negatives. High rep belt squats are miserable.

Haven't wide stance squatted in quite some time, it's a lot harder than I remember.

What are the benefits of a mouth guard?

I never paid attention to what my teeth are doing when I squat. The other day I noticed my right side hurt as I was racking the weight (vibration while hitting rack)

CG Bench: 20kg x 15, 60kg x 8, 80kg x 5, 90kg x 2, 100kg x 1, 110kg x 1, 115kg x 1, 117.5kg x 1, 100kg x 5 (back cramp), 100kg x 7

DB Floor Press: 65 x 10 x 2

a1. DB Bench: 40 x 15, 45 x 15
a2. Front Raise: 15 x 15 x 2

Still here, took a couple of days off of work and lifting because of this:

You put it in your living room?

Two words: air conditioning.

Yessir!

Just finished my first workout in AC, and the ability to max out without getting too lightheaded is hard to beat.

I've done a lot of training in not insulated areas. Wintertime is no big deal. Enough layers and you can accomplish anything. But the heat and humidity crush people, and I'd argue that it reduces the stimulus enough to affect adaptation in the long run. Good move.

Yeah, it just drains you being in that heat.

ME Lower

Still a little fatigued (who am I kidding, a lot fatigued lol) from moving all that equipment and matting yesterday. Was a long, long day but I think it will be worth it.

SSB Oly Squat: 28kg x 10, 78kg x 5, 128kg x 2, 148kg x 1, +belt 158kg x 1, 160.5kg x 1

Belt Squat: 180 x 15 x 2

a1. Hyper: BW x 15 x 3
a2. Max Tension Plank: BW x Fail x 3

Wasn't able to work as heavy as usual, but I expected that with all of the moving yesterday.

The extra space is a huge plus with this arrangement so far.

And yea, the AC helps too.

Props to the wife. Mine would never let me take over the living room. Heck, any room with AC.

w2. Standing Band Crunch: Black x 15 x 2
w3. Glute Bridge: BW x 20 x 2

And hurt my back on that fail. Pretty sure my wife wrapped me way too tight for that set and it bent me over. Not even heavy either, something I should be able to do with naked knees.

GHD: 0

Belt Squat: 90 x 45 sec, 180 x 45 sec

RC Plank (max hold for 5 sec each rep) : BW x 10 x 3

RH: 50 x 20 x 3

Band hang.

Feeling pretty crappy right now, and my back is locked up hard. Will probably be pulling out of the Strongman show that is supposed to be the week after next.

Hoping it isn't too bad, because I still want to do this meet later this year.

Lol. I agree with your assessment of the depth too.

Put me on the "impressed AF but wouldn't be surprised if it was red-lighted" list. Hope he can make it happen when it counts soon!

2 rounds through as a circuit

GHD Hyperextension: BW x 12
Reverse Hyper: BW x 15
Hanging Knee Raise: BW x 8

Starting to feel a little better. Benching again tomorrow, for speed work.

Glad to hear it and really glad to see you training smart as you can. Focusing on recovering and what you CAN do has helped me a lot.

I can't believe he actually did it. Like, ok just break the standing record by ~75#

I wasn't sure I'd ever see a 500kg deadlift pulled conventional.

Suit or not, that's incredible.

People can talk about gear and straps, but nobody else has ever done it. Not even 30 years old either. He could yet do more is what's nuts to consider.

Pritchett looked good too.

But it's hard to imagine someone out pulling Eddie anytime soon.

I've always rooted for Jerry, probably because he's an American competitor, but I have to say again after getting to be around Eddie at the Arnold he's so cool you couldn't NOT be on his team.

Have you watched Eddie, Strongman? So good.
