Jim: Performance is King Log.

3/3 with a 424 for the only PR of the day.

402/231/424 for 1057, which is a 2# total PR over the 1055 lol.

Pretty poor showing overall, but the deadlifts were decent.

PR deadlift and PR total! No flies on that.

So you failed to meet your expectations, but performed solidly with the exception of bench, set a PR and got more experience under your belt. This is all part of who you are, and part of what will make you dig deeper and perform better next time. And I ain't just rubbing polish on your knob, big boy. Not while your gal is in the room at least. ;)Good work, young man.

Wrong, great job Jim. The big question: what did you learn today?

Yeah, it's the first time I've ever deadlifted more than I squatted.

Yeah, bench blows. Hell, most of my planning for DL was based upon making up for how poorly I did at bench.

I'm feeling pretty meh about it, although, I'm pretry sure I'm getting a cool trophy.

A few things.
1. **** bench press.
2. Stronger OHP =/= stronger bench press.
3. I need to get stronger.
You still left the meet successful. Good job, Jim.
Well, with a successful DL lol.
Nice pull man. Way to finish off.

Shoulda went heavier, damn that hindsight.

To be a dick, I'm going to remind him that it's not a WR like he would've set in Prague.

Ryan, he didn't have a good Prague. I'm still trying to figure out why.

Between you, me and everybody else that reads this: I think it's between his ears...

You always feel like you could have gone heavier once you get a pull. 500, 550, and 585 all felt the same to me today. Lol.

His bar speed was very, very slow the last month before Prague. That and his I racks were rough even at 585. I think he was, wait for it, overtrained.

I don't play the O card very often, but in this case I think you might be right...

You fckrs just wait. Getting old is a full contact sport.

I'm talking to you Ryan...

Meh, you're not even that old, lol. Of course it's relative, and I too am old relative to these youngsters here, lol.

In a similar vein, I was working in on the dip bars with some young kid at the gym when visiting my family for the holiday. He said something about me being in pretty good shape, to which I responded, "yeah, alright for an old guy." He said, "Pffft, you're not that old man. My dad is 51." I laughed out loud.

You're not that old man, my dad would be 71 this year.

And my uncle is ~75.

Rodja and napalm, apparently Alex has a torn ACL and it happened before Worlds, and apparently was an issue at worlds.

Our cool trophies.

Congrats on the PRs James. No shame in your game. Just figure out a new plan on Bench. You said squat at 402 was smooth so that was going decent relative to your expectations, you PR'd on deads and PR total. Congrats again, and those trophies are bad to the bone!

Alex has had a torn ACL for a while now, prolly since last yr. my advice to him was get healthy for the big meets, not the small ones. It'll have to get fixed, but it's not acute, the surgery can wait IMO...

Well, the 402 at this meet and the 402 in August looked and felt about the same. I probably could've made a smaller jump for a 3rd, but **** that lol.

I already have a plan for mine and bevs bench.

Hers: Utilize more leg drive to take that injured shoulder out of the equation, strengthen lockout to fully utilize said leg drive.

Mine: Don't bench press besides use as assistance work, get better at OHP with various implements. Give ~10 weeks of dedication to bench press before any future PL meets, pray.

You know, after doing strongman stuff for about four weeks and not benching, I came back and hit some PR triples. It could definitely work to your advantage to press overhead and use incline work to overload the overhead movement. For many people, incline will build the bench.

Plus, you can incline press the log and put up some bomb numbers. :D

Bomb.com.

I'm just going off the assumption that if I can OHP 250, I can probably bench it.

4 mcdoubles, 20 mcnuggets, and a mountain dew later. I feel the gains.

Also, what's with 12 year old kids doing multiply powerlifting? Powerlifting or any type of weight training, sure. But multiply? That sounds like stunted growth in a bottle, and, I don't imagine it helping them to play sports in HS as much as just lifting Raw would.

I don't get it....

I agree completely man. There's a 15yr old at my gym competing in single ply. He's a football player, since when did football players start wearing single ply?

Good job dude, no one hits 3/3 everytime. Not that you need to hear this but take it as a learning experience. You know your body that much more than the next guy

Nice trophies. Congrats man.

I expected a high scoring Lions v Eagles game today, but expected more passing.

Megatron only got me 5, and D-Jax went for 11 (which is decent, but less than I expected). Too bad the weather was so poor, at least the birds won though.

breezy11, I was starting to regret my benching of Wilson for Brady (against the browns??), thank God he turned it around in the last two minutes. For those that didn't watch, that was the game to see (it isn't quite over yet though).

Yeah, another big comeback. You should've expected it after how awful they've been in the first half lately. Looks like Gronk is out with a torn ACL. They always seem to figure out a way to win, but its gonna be pretty tough now.

Yeah, I have to play against Peyton next week for fantasy. He's gonna put up a ton of points against SD, and I may be SOL for QB. Wilson has to play at NY, which is a big deal because he'll have to deal with his away game issues and weather. Then Brady against a Miami D that held him to 10 fantasy points earlier this year, and no Gronkowski.

It isn't looking good.

So, I feel fine.

I'm actually not even sure I lifted yesterday. No tightness, soreness, don't feel rundown, nada.

I'm starting it up again tomorrow with dynamic Deads, Max OHP, Rep Squat, Body.

Next week it's back to the daily grind to be prepared for the January comp (assuming I decide to do it).
