Jim: Performance is King Log.

Looks good, man.

Tell mama to watch that elbow flare so early in the movement...leaves her nowhere to go if she starts stalling.

Agree with others, your bench, including bar speed, look good. Envious: I can't bench with that kind of arch without sending my back into spasm, which is a material limitation.

I have no idea lol.

You thinking the feet are too far back?

I thought so a bit. You're compromising your leg drive, by being on your toes.

But I haven't earned the right to be unduly critical, except if it's solicited of me. :) So I am glad you asked.

Went in for a squat opener.

Warm-up: Roll, stretch hip flexor, work up to 315 x 2

Pre: Enhanced, Prime, Anabeta
Intra: A IV

Work: 345 x 2, 365 x 2

a1. Reverse Hyper: 90 x 15 x 2
a2. Bulgarian Split Squat: 50 x 12, 70 x 12

Low key day, was at the gym all day (had to open it up while the owner was at a funeral), cut the volume a bit today.

Weight at 195.0 today.

Right now I'm thinking:

365, 405, 430 (state record is 425)
235, 250, 275
365, 405, 440

We shall see how the bar speed is on meet day, although the plan is no less than 425 as a third attempt squat.

You should be about done as far as maximal training goes. You're not going to get any stronger between now and the meet. As long as you get your setup right, you'll get the record.

Didn't realize we had them on the same day Jim.

I had planned on hitting the bench opener for 1 next Wednesday, yay or nay? I didn't realize yours was so soon, push/pull right?

If you've already done it, no I wouldn't. Too close for me, you could tweak something, have a bad attempt that might screw w your head a little...blah blah.

Nothing to gain and too much to lose...

Yes sir and hopefully a full power feb 8th.

They actually have some cool trophys in I wasn't sure if there would be any since its a charity meet and unsanctioned.

Jim I was gona hit all my openers next week but I lift like crap if I go light too long. Not sure who told me to do them 2 weeks out. I'd listen to tear guys though. Obviously more experience.

Yeah, I did 235 x 3, 3 weeks ago.

I'll just do some lower volume stuff next week and then follow it with light high volume assistance stuff on meet week like I did last time.

What fed for the Feb 8th competition?

I'll just do what I did with the last comp deload. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

RPS!

I don't have any experience so I'm winging it. I do know I always hit PRs in week 2-5 of 5-3-1, never the first week. I think I just get out of practice w heavy weight in that one week somehow...

Agreed. I wouldn't do too much outside of active recovery and keeping everything mobile and healthy.

Jimbo If it were me I'd shut it down the week of the meet and just keep everything loose like Ryan said. You've done your work, get healthy next week then go kick some ass...

That's what I meant by higher volume work, just getting some facepulling, curling, lunging, back extensions, etc to get the blood flowing.

Deadlift:

245 x 5 x 2

Def. DL: 225 x 5

a1. 1 Arm Pulldown: Purple Band x 12, Purple+Black x 12 x 2
a2. Machine Row: 140 x 15, 120 x 15 x 2

Good luck at the meet.

Bench day.

Preworkout: Anabeta and Prime
Intra: Water

Warmup: LAX Ball Upper, Bench Press

Bench: 155 x 5 x 2

CG 2 Board Press:185 x 5, 205 x 5

a1. Lateral Raise: 20 x 12 x 2
a2. Pushup (holding DBs, turned at 45 degree angle): BW x 20 x 2
a3. BB Curl: 65 x 10 x 2

b1. Strict DB Row: 65 x 10 x 3
b2. X Band Raise: Reds x 12 x 3

I'm ten days out and still hitting openers. Screw deloads?

But honestly I hate them and lift like crap after I deload, I hope it doesn't screw me for my meet. Gota keep MOBILE AGILE HOSTILE.

Both you guys better take it easy on the sodium laced gravy tomorrow...

10 days out still, weight at 193 this morning lol.

I'll eat all I want, plus they're making a fried turkey. I've never had that, but it's apparently much better than what people usually make (and I typically hate turkey).

Fried turkey is the way to go

I was 193 today too Jim. We both lifting at 198 eh. I was concerned w/ the weight I picked up after starting these 5 new supps all at once, but it seems to have leveled off now, whatever it was.

I did the same hahaha, I was like, I'm sure I'll drop back down...

I went down 1 pound lol.

tomorrow though is gona be different... lots of turkey and taters.

No, I don't use beta alanine.....

Deloading sucks balls bro, and I'm still 10 days out.

I'm the weekend after you guys. Little beat up so doing easier **** this week, then next week I do something a little harder(non-maximal) then the boring ass almost strictly mobility time.

I was originally gonna do openers next week but don't know that I need to as I am really confident in them. I wish the meet was this weekend...

Edit:bout 215 boys haha

Fatty.

This is the only year we aren't frying ours, I don't even care much for this thanksgiving for that reason. Don't blow it up Jim

Also, found out the events for the January comp (well, some of them)

600# yoke for max distance.
Press medley with Log, Axle, Fire Hydrant (unknown weights and reps)
Firetruck pull (unknown distance)
Cruiser Deadlift (weight is however much a police cruiser weighs lol)
Squat (apparently starting from the bottom, Idk if it's for max or reps, I assume it is on the Viking press apparatus)

And I think there is another although I can't remember what, it's on January 25th and my friend Chris is holding his mid February so I'm not sure if I'm doing this one because of how close they are.

That's a loooong looking day for that one. Are either the January or February ones national or state qualifiers or how does the qualifying circuit work?

All competitions are national qualifiers, there are no state qualifiers.

It depends on the level of the competition.

Level 1 : 1st place qualifies for nats
Level 2 : top 2 qualify for nats
Level 3 : top 3 qualify for nats

I've only ever seen level 1 + 2. After nats there are heavier shows that can be done to win a pro card, but nationals is the highest amateur competition.

Squats:

245 x 5 x 2

Front Squats: 225 x 5

a1. Reverse Hyper: 90 x 12 x 2
a2. Leg Extension: 140 x 10 x 2
a3. Lunges: BW x 16 x 2

Added bonus, definitely sprained my left wrist on Monday/Tuesday.

It's been hurting since then, which is why I went heavier on the board presses Wednesday to see how it felt.

Don't know what I did, I woke up on Tuesday and it hurt, so I figure I did something to it in my sleep.

Wrap and rest brother. Plenty of time to heal. Sorry about the wrist. I was worried I hurt my ankle yesterday cutting shooting lanes for buck season on the mountain. But it feels much better today.

Meh, it didn't hurt for the presses (with the wraps on), so I don't expect it to be an issue.
