Jim: Performance is King Log.

Is it worth the monthly fee?

I've never been on one, hell I didn't even know they existed.

Well I had a few seminars I really wanted to see in full so it was worth it. After that I stopped, if they have more soon I will do it again. I go by month though. I never actually used the forum.

Because iparatroop went now I had to have some too....

<img src="http://anabolicminds.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=89221"/>

With eye round and brisket (and an extra plate of eye round!)

Pho!!!!!!!!! :D

Deload today.

Leg Press: 200 x 20 x 2, 250 x 20

KB Swing: 44# x 30sec : x20, x18

Trying to keep these explosive because the 40# keg was not moving fast enough last Saturday.

a1. Cable Crunch: 30 x 12, 40 x 12
a2. Lunge: BW x 12 x 2
a3. Hyper: BW x 15 x 2

Moved fast, got the heart rate up and got some blood flowing to the muscles.

How was the 225 stone failure? Got a vid?

Heaviest I've done is a 200 for reps.

Nope, didn't even get it in my lap lol. Might be better with tacky so I can hold it easier.

I do have a video of the 210 fail from last week that I'll upload.

Besides that all I got on video was the keg throws that I need to release a little earlier because Roger was there to coach me on everything else.

Ya, put them up, I can offer you my little bit of help.

The 210 was no good. Got it in my lap and started to try to grip it before it burned the crap out of my forearms.

Put more chalk on and rolled it over to attempt to grab the side that was in the shade all day, no dice.

Video is uploading right now.

And the keg throws looked good, the PVC leaned against the shipping crate is what I have to throw them over and I should be good as long as I don't stand too close to it.

Open to any and all suggestions once its up.

One thing I notice with all of the stones (even the lighter ones) is that I need to SQUEEZE it harder with my arms and against my chest.

That, and you need to get under the stone more. Try not to bend your arms as much, risking the biceps. When you lap the stone, wrap your arms arround it more and get a little under the stone to roll it up.

Thanks!

Hopefully, I'll remember that Saturday.

Good grinding there Jim it'll be yours soon, very interested in this strongman training. Wish more equipment was available here. Guess I can watch you have all the fun :)

Great job, Jim!

Lol, I almost walked into a truck while watching your video. :D

One thing I would say is start closer to the stone. It looks like it's a little bit in front of you.

The most important thing is how you lap it. You're trying to walk the stone over while it's on your legs. I would get it to your chest or shoulder before you walk with it. Your lapping is also wasting energy. Get it up above your knees, then drop into a deep squat with the stone resting on your knees. Squat down until you can just barely reach to where you need to be over top of the stone. Now the stone is higher on your chest, and when you triple extend it up, it will go much easier. You should be able to smash 210 in that fashion.

I'd like to see you do stones again asap just to get those form points down. Closer to the stone, lap it on your knees and squat down more, and bring the stone to the platform with it up higher.

Ill go today and do the stones. Same 3 onto that platform.

That'll be good. I expect you'll nail 'em.

I have no idea about anything goin on in this thread. Therefore i have no helpful info....Just wanted to stop and say hi.

Watched some more tutorials (thanks Dave) and one thing I notice when watching them and then me, I need to have my arms straight around and under the stone. I can't do the whole bent arms trying to stay under it thing, because then it tries to roll.

The last one with the 210 was better, but it was hell trying to pick up (because of the aforementioned issues) and I didn't press my core out against it. This led to two issues, 1. It wasn't high enough because it was caved into my stomach/chest and 2. it crushed my solar plexus in the most uncomfortable of fashions.

That failed attempt was so close, but ultimately I ended up breaking my platform (whoops) and dropping the stone.

I plan to go at it again tomorrow with the 165 for reps and try to hammer the technique in. The only real issue is the size difference between the 165 I will be using and the 225 I have to use Saturday (the 225 and 210 are about the same size).

Damn bro I just checked out that vid and that looks tuff!!!!

Manliest name ever?

Magnus Ver Magnusson. Hands down.

If I have a son, he'd be named that.

It also helps that he's ****ing awesome. You can't not be awesome when you're named Magnus Ver Magnusson.

And yes, these are the things I think about when I'm awake at 2AM.

Very manly indeed. Go to bed now

I'd still like to see you a little closer to the stone. And yes, the stone is going to try to push your ribs out through your spine. You have to not only breathe into your belly, but also get so much air in that it gets into your chest, too. Try some of those Ryan Brown breathing drills that you can find on Juggernaut or his channel. Make sure you get full extension, too. Like Elliot said. If you're doing those drills with the 165, I'd try to blast the sucker up into the stratosphere to get a feel for the extension you'd need with 225. You were so close!

Yeah, I saw that I was still pretty damn far away (i think) because I'm trying to pick it up from under the stone (curl fashion).

I might go at the 210 some more today, not setting it on anything just lapping and extending. So I can get accustomed to the size.

I feel like I would've gotten it had the platform been against something as opposed to free standing. It went down and so did the stone.

I'll YouTube those breathing drills tonight. It came down pretty hard today (rain) so hopefully the stones aren't too wet.

Yeah, you want to deadlift the stone, not curl it. Your arms should bisect it and your friction and the pressure you put on it from the sides will be what holds it. Always protect your biceps tendons!

I tried today. And was much closer to the stone but it was way harder.

Arms straight, squeezing the sides, and couldn't even get the 210 off the ground.

Only got the 165 off 1 time, the 1 time looked good (lap + extension) but it was extremely slow from the ground to my lap.

And now my left biceps hurt, feels like I strained it.

Arms were straight everytime today, not behind the stone like yesterday.

Sometimes we're just not ready for each and every event. Kalle Beck was talking about how he went to a pro qualifier his first time out and took a zero on every event. Don't hurt yourself going into the comp. You either make it or you don't. You better not be thinking too much when you're standing over that stone!

I'm just gonna grab it and lift it.

Do as well as possible on every other event so that my final scoring is OK.

I have only had a month or two of practice with stones as it is, so I'm just gonna go in and do as much as I can for the stones and work my ass off on everything else.

Agreed with Herder, setup closer on that stone and try to get under in more.
