JD's getting shut eye with Finaflex's G8 & BCAA+SAA

Finally hit my second chest and shoulders workout. I had been missing the second day for a few weeks now. Got a crazy pump and felt pretty strong through out the entire session.

Machine press- neutral grip with a 2 sec squeeze!!
190 4 x 12

Super-sets

Pec Minor dip- 4 x 10

Bent over rear DB raises- 15's 4 x 20


DB hex press- 60's 4 x 8

Face pulls- 100 4 x 8

6-way DB laterals- 15's 10,10,4 rest 5 sec then 4 more

Over and backs- 3 x 10

I've never done the 6-ways and holy sheep ****!!!! I had to stop half way through my last set and I still didn't get all my reps in. Craziness man!!




I weighed myself this morning. I had been weighing around 208-210 with my diet fluctuating daily. That was up until last Sat. Now that I have been strict and with 4 days cardio I weighed 205.4 this morning. Not sure if it was just from lining out my diet or I actually dropped a few lbs this week. I will see how next week goes and adjust from there.
 
Impressed on your six-way weight. I'm still at 5# to hit all reps at 3x10

Yes, the routine called for a 2 sec hold last week. I may employ it every time though. I don't use much weight, so I can concentrate on my rear delts. The guy who showed me how to do them had me sitting way back into it, almost like squatting down. But i soon realized we were going so heavy I was using my rhomboids and everything else but my delts. So i lightened the weight way up and concentrated on form.
 
Got some more BCAA/SAA's ordered. Going to start sipping on them during my morning fasted cardio too :D

Does that work as a review that I am buying more? :fing02: LOL

As you can see I had to lower weights on most of the exercises. What I could normally do about killed me with supersets and 30 sec rests. My arms were unbelievably pumped!!

Instead of being over powered by the flavor of the BCAAs and Karbolyn mixed I used just under a half a gallon on water and mixed it with it. Then just carried the jug with me tonight at the gym. Worked out pretty good.

Got a question for the reps and non reps. I don't really have a place to refill my water bottle at work so I have been taking a gallon jug with me to work. Would it make much difference to put 2-3 scoops of BCAA/SAA in the gallon for flavor? Or would it be more wasteful than helpful.
 
Drinking BCAA's throughout the day isn't wasteful. I probably drink 3-4 scoops on an average day throughout the day. I'm just glad NutraPlanet ran that super deal on it with the muscle fiber. I've got 5 tubs of BCAA's right now besides the tub that is open.

Well I ordered one, guess I better order a few more then haha.
 
Forgot to put in my update, I was in excruciating pain in the gym today!! I never do ab work and decided I needed to start. So I was doing leg raises (elbows supported) really concentraing on using my lower abs. I did two sets of 15 and started to walk around for a minute. Out of nowhere my right lower ab started to twitch/spasm, then the right on started. Then all at once they both cramped up on me!! I looked like a fish out of water, except I was standing up! I would lean one side and stretch, then the other. It would just start to let loose and I would lean back forward and BOOM it would cramp up again!! I am just glad I was the only one in the gym!!! I say was definitely targeting my lower abs!

I've had this happen quite often. I finally realized I needed Taurine. Once I started taking it the cramps stopped. I now dose taurine one teaspoon in the am and one pm.
 
My quads were cramping up pretty bad a few weeks ago, but realized I hadn't been drinking enough water. Not sure now. I'll see if it happens again.

I get that fairly often, I find grabbing a pull up bar and hanging legs straight helps a lot!!

Crazy leg day today! I got tired of waiting on this guy to get out of the squat rack so instead of doing speed squats before the leg press, I did them after and did more volume instead of speed squats.

It was pretty funny at the gym tonight. There was a personal trainer there that kept watching me. When I got over to do squats I loaded the 365. Just as I got under the bar I seen him in the mirror. He almost jumped up off the bench and was on his toes like he was going to "rescue" me because I was squating 365. The idiot, I know he had just seen me do 315, it is not like 365 was going to have me stuck on the ground LOL

I didn't add in the aminos to my gallon of water this morning because I am almost out, but will as soon as the new tub gets here.

I was sweating my ass off by the time I got done. Also I skipped calves tonight, Today is mine and my wifes anniversary so I figured maybe I should get home haha. We celebrated it yesterday so it wasn't to big a deal, but to stay out of trouble I quit a little early.

My weight Sunday morning was because I was depleted. It evened back out, and is a little lower than last week. I was 204.4 this morning. Probably going to screw it up by eating to much Thursday ;)


Back and shoulders tonight

Db press on slight incline- 2 sec hold contraction
90's 4 x 8 (+5lbs)

Explosive bench- Pause on chest , explode up
245 4 x 5
Actually dropped to 225 so I could be more explosive off my chest.

Slight incline bench- constant tension, don't touch chest and don't lock out elbows
225 3 x 6


Bent over rear delt laterals raises-
20's 3 x 20

100 3 x 10 (lowered reps to 10, but upped the weight 10lbs)

Explosive cage press- Set pin at chin height, rest bar on pins between each rep, then explode up

I missed the stretch push-ups tonight. All the platforms were in the zumba room and it was full of people doing a class, so I skipped them. I will take tomorrow off but will lift early Thanksgiving morning.


I will do a review on both products here pretty soon.

some guys just don't jive with the bench press. maybe your better off pressing the DBs. do you have a certain injury preventing your bench form getting better?

I am making great progress this year. The last 6 or so months is the first time under a standard BB bench in close to 8 years.

I tweaked a shoulder when I was 25-26, and never used the bench again.

I kept with DBs and machines forever until starting up MD and going with more of a PL arch. So far, no pain and I'm progressing. I'll get there eventually.

And yeah, DBs are easier for me.

a typical chest day for me would look like this:

warm up on the rubberband machine 5 sets total pyrimiding up to max
machine press again pyramid up to 290-300
DB flyes ( done bpak style ) 4-5 sets
hammer incline press 5-6 sets pyramid up to max weight usually around 3 plates per side followed by a strip set
cable fly machine ( varying the seat height )

sometimes if im feelin frisky i will add in some incline DB presses and also incline smith machine presses.

occasionally i do a few months worth of decline DB flyes in the routine

I like this layout. I don't do bands simply because I haven't tried them. I personally don't do bb benching much any more although I'll occasionally do some incline bb.
Love the HS incline and ISO chest press machines. I've found doing incline flyes and then straight into hex presses works real well too. I would add in DB pullovers at the end. Even though they would technically be a lat movement they really hit the chest very well as a finisher.

Stout pressing to go 3 plates per side on the incline press. Impressive xR1!
 
I have never tried Hammer Strength equipment, but would love to try it. One of my wife's friend owns a Gold's about 20 miles away, they have a whole line of Hammer Strength Equipment, I just can't seam to find the time to drive there and train.

and just to be clr.. the rubber band machines at my gym are similar to what a bowflex works like. only they are selectorized.

im paying for my strong pressing atm ..elbow and coinciding back injury has me out of the gym last 3 weeks....

Back injuries suck! I was out 8 years due to back injuries...I did get smarter in those 8 years though lol!
 
I used to never bench with a bar, it was always dumbells. I was one that fell for the idea that you can't build using a barbell. I have actually made some nice gains so far since using both bar an DBs.

As for the hammer strength I haven't ever used on either, we don't have any at our gym. One day I will get to a gym that does though!!



Just got done eating breakfast, going to get cleaned up and hit the gym in a bit. Then sit around and eat turkey all day. it'll be extra cardio tomorrow I can see it already!! haha
