Jdg's 26 Week Prep

If I remember right you are around 150? You really need to put a lot of size on if you want to be in middle weight. The top of middle is 176. And really you don't want to build up to 180, cut down and drop water and weigh in at the bottom of the class. If you were going to weigh in at 156, you would be better to just drop a few more and be in light weight? Make sense?

thanks yeah that's good advice. If i was doing middle weight it would be at 165-170lbs. We'll see how the bulking goes. lightweight is most likely but I've never been on slin before so I am going to see where it takes me. ideally i'd like to have a walking around weight of around at 180lbs at approx 12% so dropping down to 4% range would put me around 165lbs. Last full on bulk i got to 176lbs between 13-15% bf

we are hoping with you. glad at least your getting some sleep everything is better with adequate sleep.

Yes it really helps. I still wake up my normal 2-3 times, but I am not in pain and can go back to sleep pretty easy!

Went to have my test done today. They said it was carpal in both hands :( He faxed everything to my ortho doc. But more than likely it means surgery in both hands. I'll see what he says, but I am not throwing in the towel. I will wrap my wrists and do what I can do at the gym. Until surgery, then I will just work with one hand.

As for tonight ?.it's bbq and beer. :) Invalid Link Removed

If it's carpal the surgery is a breeze. You'll be back in no time.,I was using a shovel 3 days after surgery. I just hope they are right...

That's my thought. I went to Kansas city to have the tests done. I'd come unglued if I had the surgery and it didn't fix it.

Lol!! No comment lol!!

BBQ season is upon us... still a tad cool but who can fuggin wait. Sounds like better news about the problems.

Glad to see you're feeling better! Hopefully the ct surgery will fix it and all will be well. You've come a long way. I'd hate to see you down very long and lose it.

Yes sir. I wore my braces to bed last night, which by the way is a pain in the butt. But went all today without them. I had planned on the gym after work, and really wanted to!! But ended up covering for someone and worked most of the day. Then my son's mom was in town tonight so I had to meet up with her so he could spend some time with her.
Tomorrow morning I am going to go. I'll wrap my wrists and try to do some DB chest stuff and see what happens. I will also try to get ahold of the ortho doc to see what he says.

Few things to mention here. I found a chiropractor that is supposed to be able to help with carpel tunnel. I went and seen her Friday. My hip was out of place so she fixed it plus the normal back and neck adjustments. She did find some tight spots in my traps that she worked out. Plus did some interferintial current and ultra sound on both forearms to help loosen things up. She said her goal was to get me to be able to sleep this weekend without pain. I slept last night with out my braces and woke about 3 with some minor pain in my right hand/fingers. I really don't know if this will work, but I am going back to see her Monday. I am willing to give it a shot before surgery.

I have got to lift the last few days. I hit chest and shoulders yesterday. I couldn't lift much heavier than 55lb dumbells so on my incline bench I did 4 sec negatives with sets of 15. I think I hit my tris more because they are sore today. Lovin it though!! :D
Took my son with me to lift today and hit back and bis. Feel freakin awesome to be back in the gym. Although my fingers are almost completely numb now whiel typing haha.

I will wait until the ortho doc calls me to make an appointment and see what he says. Only bad part is I don't how much I can afford to keep paying the chiropractor if I put off surgery for a few weeks.....

Sounds like you are grateful just get your hands on some iron. I am loving the attitude.

Yes sir! I know there is a reason for all this, and I will take it day by day. But just to get in the gym and push some weights, no matter how heavy, really helps..

Keep it up! You're doing great! He's got a lesson for you in this. You'll just have to figure out what it is. Maybe just giving you some downtime to spend with your son and make sure you've got your priorities straight. I know He has to do that with me a lot more often than I'd like to admit.

Thanks eddieaz. I know sometimes I doubt things, but there is always a reason for things to happen. Just gotta have more faith.

Just an update over the weekend. I know this thread was about me competing but I will still update it until I find out what is going to happen with my hands. I seen the chiropractor Friday. Slept that night with very little pain. Saturday night my right hand was hurting pretty good about 4 a.m. So last night I slept with my braces and didn't have any problems. So was it coincidence that I didn't really hurt after the chiro Friday?? maybe, I'm not sure. I know the tingling is pretty much gone I am just dealng with numbness in my fingers now. I go again this afternoon to the chiro. I am curious what she will do today.

Going to hit legs this morning. If my knees let me, I will do some squats. Haven't been under the bar in almost a month now. :(

It's all about the faith ... and the acceptance :)

Yes it is...and I need both... went to the chiropractor today. Going to need to discuss it with my wife, but I don't think it is going to be an option anymore. Between the adjustments, estim, and ultrasound it is $90 every trip. And she wants me to go twice a week right now!! It may not be much to some, but we can't afford it.....

ON a good note, I got to squat today. After loading up the leg press (14 plates is about all it holds) and doing sets of 15 I decided to try squatting. Felt good! I only put 225 on the bar, but was shakey in the decent of every rep. Not that it felt heavy I think I just need to strengthen my stabilizers a little. Been out to long. Had a very good workout all in all.

Vascularity has been crazy!!!

Probably setting myself of for disappointment coming to the gym if I end up with surgery.

Felt good today. Was able to work up to 205 on incline bemch 12,10,8,6 4. An was able to pickup 70's to do flat bench.

Good thing is I know I can come back pretty quick now :-)

Sounds like chiro has been of benefit?? What did you do with your gear plan? Any changes or reductions during this season of throttling back?

Well yes and no on the chriro. It seemed the first night after seeing her my pain was very little at night. But I saw her yesterday and I woke up about 3am this morning hurting. I am going to talk to the orhto doc next week and see what my options are. I just don't want to wait to late and have permant nerve damage.

I dropped all gear except the test for now. Just running low dose test until I see what happens.

Love the positive attitude!! I know it can be frustrating for sure but you're handling it well by staying positive! The chiro is quite expensive! I have degenerative discs in my neck and that's about how much it was for me. Just couldn't pull it off! I hope the ortho has some good options for you!

Thanks Kat. I know I have been down about some other things lately and being in the gym helps some. I seen a post of FB that says it all. "stop looking at your problems, and start looking at your God" Man if that ain't the truth!!

Yes the chiro can get expensive in a hurry!! I know the ortho doc had said something before about possibly getting a shot first, but the effects don't last long for most. And being in the gym you put a lot of strain on your wrists so I don't know. I'll just have to wait and see what he says when I go in. Until them I will be in the gym doing what I can. Honestly on some lifts I feel stronger now than when I was still cutting. :D

Leg press leg extension calf presses you can use lifting hooks on Lat pulldown etc lots of things you can do you'll get past this

Getting to the bottom of this remains top priority though. Take it easy and don't do something you will later regret.

That's great! So glad you're feeling pretty good considering it all!...love that saying! So true! God is WAY bigger than any problem we could ever have!

Not to shabby for not getting to lift much this last month.

So I have to have surgery in each hand. More likely have surgery next week. I won't be able to lift with that hand for up to 3 weeks. And then after 3 weeks I will have surgery on the other hand. I was able to lift with braces on both hands so I will still figure things out where I can be at the gym :-)

looks like a whole lotta leg press, curls and extensions for six weeks

Yes sir, going to have some tree trunks lol. Maybe I'll take before and after pics :-)

Honestly there's a lot of single arm movements I can do for my upper body tries, bis, chest, back. What's your alls opinion on working one side of the upper body for 3 weeks and then the other side for 3 weeks? Would it make much difference? Would it throw off my symmetry too much? Opinions? Or should I just focus on legs for 6 weeks?

This is too bad but hopefully will fix you for the rest of your life

A little change of plans. Before I get into it I will say I haven't hurt at night in over a week, even when working a full shift and hitting bis and tris at the gym. Just still dealing with numbness, which some feeling has came back on my left thumb and finger.

I have had a few job opportunities come up. One is part time with the post office, the other I was basically offered a job as a assistant manager at a loan place. My wife talked with the surgeon ( which she helps with surgeries ) and the surgeon said it is not going to hurt to put off my surgery for 3-6 months if I want. The reason I am putting it off is both jobs are good opportunities and if they find out I am going to have two surgeries they more than likely wouldn't hire me. I really need a new job because this one is not bringing in enough money. I had an interview with the post office yestarday and should know something within a week. I will talk with the lady at the loan place and apply with her Monday.
With either one, I am planning on studying again to once again take my damn state boards!!

As for my workout I have been going pretty steady for two weeks now. I have cleaned up my diet and am able to hit it pretty hard. The only thing I can't do yet is deadlifts and pullups. Which is funny because I can do pull downs on the cable machine???

Soooo, since I have to put my surgery off this is my plans. The NPC ALL STARS in Kansas City is Nov. 7. That is exactly 32 weeks from today. Right now I plan on bulking for 12-16 weeks hard, but keeping it lean, then cutting for 16-18 weeks and competing in Nov :D. As for surgery, I will see how my hands do. With the pain going away there is a possibility they will get better, slight, but it is there. If I do have to have surgery I will plan in at the last three weeks of my bulk and three weeks of my cut. I will not be on a complete shut down, so I can still train during that time.... Now my first thought and I am sure someone will suggest it is get the surgery first , then bulk. BUT with these job opportunites coming up, I can't afford (literally) to turn them down. After being on the job for 3 months I can then say, hey I need surgery haha.

I am thinking about starting a new come back/bulk log. Would anyone be interested in following along?

Wow very exciting opportunities! May be a reason it's all happening before the surgery! Sounds like a good plan you've got in place! I'll definitely follow along! :)

If the Dr says your ok go for it I'm excited for you bro best of luck on either position whichever is right for you an fam.

Thank you sir. I am too. Financially it will help greatly!! I like the job I am at now, because it gives me a lot of extra time to hit the gym, plus do other things I need to. But I need a job to bring in a little more money than what i am making, so I hope one of these work out, at least until I can try my boards again.

I am thinking strictly size for awhile. I will add in some hormones to assist so a few options would be a modified 5x5, GVT, or a Power/Hyper routine. I thought about doing like a 5x5, 2 on 1 off and doing upper body 1st day and lower body the 2nd with a few accesory exercises thrown in. SO like this:

Monday: Upper Body
Flat Bench- 5 x 5
Bent over rows- 5 x 5
Seated BB shoulder press 5 x 5
Tris pushdowns- 2 x 15
BB curls- 2 x 15
Rear delts 2 x 15

Tues: Lower Body
Front squats- 5 x 5 (Friday would be back squats)
SLDL 5 x 5
Extensions 2 x 15
Leg curls 2 x 15
Calf raises 2 x 30

Repeat Thurs and Friday, 3 days cardio and core work

Opinions on this one? or ideas for something different?

GVT would be great. Would allow the huge increase and calories and a ton of hypertrophy work.

If you're wrists/hands are doing better and your completely off of aas (besides the TRT range dose) why throw more hormones in? Maybe that was the issue...

Health first, bb second. I'd workout while just on your test for the next few months to see if your wrists get better/worse or stay the same.

Im in for the new log! I'm happy to see these opportunities open up for you also. Just like Tyga was saying, though, health and family before bb. I'm still praying for ya!
