BW - 223.5

Front Squat (w/ just belt)
315-4 PR with no wraps or knee sleeves

Box Jumps (actually bleacher steps so there was a forward component to the jumps)
- Messed around a little and got 44''
-4 steps (~32'') - 2 sets of 5 reps
- ~32'' - 2 sets of 15 reps (first jump ~40'' or 5 steps)

Standing ab curls - 3 sets

* No chalk for grip stuff
Blob holds with head of 40# DB
left - 8 s
right - 10 s

Pinch grip with 2 25# plates < 10s each hand (terrible)

Pinch grip with 3 10# plates
left - 35s
right - 60s

Not doing heavy squats seems to have helped my knees enormously. Before they always hurt and now they feel pretty good.

(Obviously) Your Front Squats decimate mine. I can put up 225-235 for a triple though; oh, and I Smith (I know, I know) Close Grip BP'ed 235 x 4 the other day. I would say they were nice reps.

-I did many sets but was doing it in the new backyard. The ground is lumpy as **** everywhere and I was having way too much stability problems. There were a number of other failed log sets because of the surface that I'm not recording.

Clean and Press Medley - (~110 fatbar DB, 220 keg, 244 axle, 245 axle - this last one should be a 260 log for nationals)
1st run - up to keg clean and lost it on the press
2nd run - got all 4 somewhat quickly - keg takes a long time

Strict Press with Axle

Next week I'll train the log in the garage, but I didn't have anything to save the concrete if it fell hard this time.

Conditioning - sled pulls with 140# -sprint uphill 80ft on rocky driveway and drag back down walking. Then repeat.

Good day overall. I was happy with the log and stone work. Yoke just isn't my event.

Well, it's pretty clear that I need the suit for DL since I got 6 with it. It helps me at the bottom where I'm weak. I might have been able to grind out another 1 more in 60s if I took longer breaks, but my backs been touchy. The side handles seem to encourage rounding of my back.

The rack squats were to simulate the yoke pickup and strengthen the core for that. I need all the help that I can get for that one.

I've altered my diet some and am liking the results. I've eaten a pretty clean diet for at least 5 years straight but have always consumed a lot of carbs maybe 50-60% of my calories. I've increased my fat intake significantly while reducing my carbs, and the weight that I've packed on seems to be of a higher quality so far.

*** A change in the format for Nationals has been announced - all competitors will do all 8 events over the 2 days. That's pretty cool of the event organizers!
 
I don't no if no this, but if you bend knees on squatting works real gooood. Aslo, if are going outside use suntan lotooin, is veri good. Good jov, talk to later,

My presses still don't seem up to speed. It's frustrating. I'm still having some stability problems but they are getting better. Maybe DLing and doing some squat variation the day before is robbing me of a little of the pop in my legs.

Yeah, since I have 8 events at nationals and I want to train them all, I switched it up. I'll probably move to about 2 strongman workouts and 2 gym workouts after as this has been rough on the body and the weather will get colder too (and Mullet's physique is too much more developed than mine :twisted:)

What's going on with your training?

I don't think I quite pulled that off. I did tell some girl that she was "the 6th hottest chick at the bar that night". I'm sure I was Hiroshima'ing badly and yacked for hours after getting home. Too old for shots....

If you can keep in control, have at it. Everytime I drink like the old days, I usually end up regretting sh1t that I say. You seem like binge drinker who goes on a bender for a week or two than calms down for a while.

haha, I like that, "6th hottest chick at the bar." Yeah you've got me down, but this time its been much longer than a few weeks. I've been drinking a disgusting amount. Last Friday I killed a handle of Beam over the course of 8 hours. That is just ****ing disgusting. I'll be back.

ONE drink and he's an alcoholic, so it wasn't a virgin drunk syndrome.

He felt okay the next day, minus the self urination, (better that then self defecation). My friend was more upset because it was his couch that got man pee'd on, but yeah, that's how I reacted, WHO DOES THAT?!?! Some real @$$holes.

I looked extra young for awhile. I probably looked 17 until I was 25, and my last name is Holmes, (my dad is Caucasian), so I had issues with my I.D. a couple times. I've been accused or received the conspicuous eye brow raise, with the suspicion that I was pulling a "McLovin" stunt.

Ah, those dudes are complete and utter trash. I was once "friends" with this cat who had a long line of sexual pressure situations - he would drive girls about 15 minutes out of town (I grew up in a city of 56k, and there were farming communities/roads surrounding it) and threaten them with walking, or performing oral sex/intercourse with him. To us - obviously - that is not that far of a distance, but to a 15, 16, 17 year old girl, walking 30k in the dark is quite frightening; he has since been beaten to a pulp on several occasions.

He was a piece of trash. He begged - literally - for this girl to do things with him for two hours. When she refused, he said he "wouldn't have enough gas to even get home", and that they would walk....I hate him still.

I think this is my last heavy yoke walk before nationals. It just takes too much of a toll on my lower legs (shin splints). Having a taller, thinner build relative to other strongman competitors is good for some events but not the yoke it would seem. Anyway, I think 700 for 60' is do-able at a very slow, careful pace. It will make day 2 painful, though.

That's sort of freaky with those tire flips and the truck stunt. Tire flips are great over-all exercises. Explosiveness, strength, endurance, muscle coordination, a general hard core'dness. If I didn't have the back stability of a 60 year old, I'd like to have an outside workout consisting of tire flips.

Arran stepped it up and got 26 on his first set to beat me. He'll be excellent for pushing us all.
