Jarhead

Any Marines out there going to see Jarhead? I was a couple of sets into my deadlifts and I downloaded the trailer. Pretty motivating stuff. I hit the next set pretty hard (I work out in my basement). Ooh rah!!!!

At first, I wasn't too excited to go see it for the same reasons I don't watch Over There. Now, I kind of want to since it's the American Beauty/Road to Perdition guy and after watching the Making Of on HBO.

Are you kidding me? Read the book or who the movie was about before you make stereo types about war movies.

Yes, I will be seeing it.

All movies are rentals for me. What is it, like 12 bucks to see a movie nowadays?

I hear ya! Everytime I get an urge to go see a movie I take the money & put it in my AAS fund instead.:woohoo:

Yeah movies are so expensive at $7.50... I dont know how I afford gas so I can make it home

Yes I'll be seeing the movie as well.

Sounds like you have been misinformed. While I won't get into the politics of it, or your blatant disregard for patriotism and those defending this nation, I will state that you are wrong. The author of this book was basically a complete shitbag, and this is the hollywood corrupted book to movie conversion.

Have it your way though, it's all one big conspiracy and recruiting ploy. To quote the Boondocks, "Jesus was black, Ronald Raegan was the devil, and the government lied about 9/11."

Considering renting is 4 bucks at the most, not including the internet deals out there, I'll stick to renting. 7.50? I'm not talking dollar movies here (sarcasm). Last time I saw a movie in the theaters other than the military base theater (like 2 years ago), it cost me like 10 bucks each for my wife and I to watch a movie. That isn't including the bullshit popcorn and drink my wife couldn't go without, which was like another 10 bucks. I'll go watch a baseball game for that much.

I for one apreciate the hell out of your friends. I think they need to be honored for everything they do over there.

maybe its just location

Movies here are $7.50 per ticket... rents around $4 here and the movie theaters here are much higher quality than any home theater i've ever been in...

Im sry to those i have offended by my comment. I watched a preview for the movie and it seemed to be a pro war movie. I have not read the book nor do i know the plot of the movie. I just went off the preview.

I have lost 2 friends due to them protecting this country and know about 4 other guys over there. My best friend of 8 years told me yesterday that he is soon to follow.

And for that I'm sure I can speak for just about everyone when I say that I can't even begin to put to words how much their sacrifice to protect our way of life means to me.

I do not think of war movies as promoting war but rather a tribute to those brave soldiers who fought in them. And as an ex-marine I enjoy movies about the core, even though I was a just a reservist. I am sorry you lost friends to war. Whether you believe in the war or not we need to honor our soldiers.

Going to the movies does cost a small fortune. On the rare occasion the wife and I do go, it has to be a movie we both will enjoy. And it is strictly the movie, no popcorn or pop. We are both tightwads.

i think movies like this serve an important purpose; to remind the general public that there are in fact people dying for the right they take for granted everyday.

I saw this movie last night. I guess for the purpose it was used for ( informing people what its like to be in the marines and so forth) its a good movie, but its not to action packed in the war department really. It is but it isnt.

I liked it tho. OOOOOOOOOH RRAAAAAHHH:hammer:

as the quote says

"If freedom is worth living forth, then it most be worth dying for"

I have many friends in iraq too, some have already came home. The death of American soldiers makes me sick, but as terrible as it sounds, the United States is the greatest, most powerful and free nation because of the sacrifices our brave people have made.

Word on that. I enjoyed the movie tho. It also shows how war can make people go insane from all the intense things they must go threw. The military is not for me i must say. I respect and give my utmost of thanks to the people serving our country, i just know that its not something id wanna do.

well, i saw the movie. it left me feeling "incomplete", or maybe unsatisfied. after thinking about it i've decided it was a damn good movie. the director made me feel what the main character felt in the movie; and thats doing his job

If you came away with those feelings then they did exactly what they set out to do. The movie, for the most part, was a great representation of what it was like for a number of soldiers, whatever the branch, during that time.

Many highly trained soldiers had no outlet and it was a very frutstrating time. When all you're trained to do is kill and the time never comes you feel incomplete. For a great deal of my career and the full careers of many of my friends we had this feeling.

It's just the nature of the beast. Like said above, **** doesn't happen often but when it does you better be ready.

It's a good movie all in all. There were a few things that were "movie" things. If you're looking for pure action and don't really care about a storyline it's not for you.

I liked the movie. I wish there was a little more action, but like you guys said, that was the point.

I'd rather not get into all the Michael Moore conspiracy bullshit. I have faith our leaders do what they have/had to.

Scarey way to think.. no matter what is going on you have to use your on mind.. even in the military you are taught to react but do so while thinking

Open mind.. sure, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I wont see it. I spent 8 months there and I am 100% sure that what is depicted will be false. Then I will get super pissed and want to kill someone. Well maybe I should watch it before a leg workout or something!

Well I saw it and I thought it sucked... Really lame movie in my opinion

There wasn't any hardcore marine ass-kicking like I thought there would be... It was all a bunch of lame ass bullshitting in the tents and whining, and waiting for the Air Force to come and blow **** up...

I am a E4 Marine 0311 baby! there is no way in hell i am going to see that bs movie. for some stupid reason hollywood thinks they can capitalize on dieing marines in iraq. i think about my friends that i have lost every day and to see previews of some movie with f*cking Jamie Fox as marine...what a disgrace. this movie shouldn't give you motivation gentlemen this movie should anger the hell out of ya.

How can you be 100% sure that what's depicted is false? And, you said you haven't seen it. It says you're 26. You obviously couldn't have been in Desert Shield or Storm. What happened in Iraq more than 10 years ago is totally different from what has happened and is happening right now.

Trust me, and this is coming from an ex Infantry Marine, but we Infantry Marines can piss and moan with the best of them. When we're not on a mission, we're either bullshitting or bitching about how much "this" sucks. I have yet to read the book or watch the movie, but I'm sure it's no different then the **** I went through as a Marine. We all bitch about something, but I think the Marines over in Iraq have a legitimate reason to gripe every once in a while. Remember this movie is based on the book, written by a guy who wasn't your typical "oorah!" Marine.
