Jacked my thumb up bench pressing a couple weeks ago

First time hitting 225 for multi sets in a very long time.

This was about two weeks ago. I had a death grip on the bar in case something happened (no spotter)

I hit 225 that week, 235 last week, going for more this week.

My thumb still hurts though and it's affecting every day **** here and there.

Is this something I just work through?

Also - I changed my grip for benching to a more super parallel wrist placement vs angled.

Anyone else ever had a thumb sprain they got over?

Grip work should reset things. In particular squeezing exercises.
