Is Subway good for you?

Seriously be honest. If you think subway is healthy, you are an idiot. It is simply the lesser of evils when compared to mcdonalds, burger king, etc. Other than that, Subway and healthy should never be mentioned together

Unhealthy = ****ty processed food, tons of chemicals, preservatives, sugars, etc. We know what unhealthy is. Subway might not be the absolute worst place ever, but it is still very much not good for you.

Google search the ingredients. Chicken should not have 20 ingredients. Nor should vegetables.

From a long-term health prospective, probably not, largely because Subway's food is chalked full of additives and preservatives.

From a bodybuilding, weight lifting perspective, the food isn't that bad for a person on the go, assuming that it fits within your nutritional macros.

I don't see 20 ingredients for vegetables and go to your local supermarket and pick up a package of deli meat or prepackages meat and you will find the same thing.
they aren't going to sell organic foods at subway

Mike's original argument made sense, your weird semantics attack failed.

You are not "ripped", simply skinny. Ripped requires low body fat and muscle mass, you only have one part of the equation.

You have to be trolling.

Of course other deli meats are going to have the same trash that's not even remotely close to this argument. The argument is whether or not Subway is healthy and it quite simply is not. Processed white bread and garbage, additive laden meat is not healthy period. Of course there are better options or worse options thats not the point. The point is that Subway is not good for you.

I was wrong on the vegetables and 20 ingredients. Must have seen an incorrect list. However, thats not to say they arent some garbage gmo variety. Who knows there.

What that list does tell you is that every one of those breads is nothing more than refined white bread and the meats are trash.

Also, that chicken breast looks remarkably similar to what mechanically separated chicken is. For those of you not familiar, google it and keep a barf bag handy

I used to work at subway... Never eating there after working there that place is fukin gross. Microwaved soup ha wtf? It's supposed to be healthy not Some cambells soup thrown in a fukin microwave. The bread comes in a box which is as bad as the meat which is practically dog ass. Don't eat there they have cockroaches and dropped everything on the ground that you consume. Fuk subway cheap fuks

Fortunately you can just starve if you're looking for a ratio only. If you want an impressive fat to muscle ratio though, build some muscle before you go throwing composition insults around, especially when they don't even make sense. Google "inference" too.

The concern over highly processed meat is legitimate and it should've been left at that.

It's processed and bleached , re-purposed chicken parts pressed into a chicken breast shape to create the illusion of eating a healthy product. Basically what you're eating is a large un-breaded chicken nugget served on a chemical loaf garnished with low cost genetically engineered vegetables. "That's subway fresh"!

Exactly what I was thinking. Im going to leave it at that. If the OP can't decide after this, than that is his fault

agreed with this and yes I know the meat is grade "A" but its not any worse than deli meat at your local store

I wasn't the one who made a personal insult first anyway.

I just pounded out a 6in chipotle steak and avacodo... delish.

I agree other than maybe top stuff like Boars Head. I never claimed it was any worse. The op just asked if Subway was a healthy meal option or not and it isn't. That is not me saying its the worst stuff in the world, it just isn't healthy

I've found that a whole chicken on the grill, beer can style preferrably, makes a great sandwhich. You can even buy an organic chicken. Shred it on a whole wheat bun with onion, avocado, tomato and garlic pesto with provolone.

Roasted pork tenderloin, roast beef, beef tenderloin...

All of these can be bought whole and made at home, even organic varieties from the bread and veggies to the meat and cheese. The sandwich will absolutely be identifiable from Subway, and healthier. Even on a Submarine style roll.

well if you guys are looking for organic, non preservative then your food choices are going to be pretty limited anyways and yes subway would not be an option for you then.

You guys are pretty rude to each other we all just want to be healthy and support eachother it was pretty funny reading the posts tho gotta admit! :p scrawny ass hahaha jk you gym monkeys im still going to eat at subway!

How can this even be a argument !! Subway is shat!! It's all processed crap . Loaded with useless carbs , little to no protein ohh but hey is low in fat ! Haha

Go get a chicken breast from that dump and break it in half . The damn thing has air pockets in it .

Plus they are all owned by rude ass people . At least in my neck of the woods .

Just tellin it like it is. Some people are just too dumb to be treated nice once its obvious they're just not gonna get it.

As people like to use this saying when choosing our president, I'd like to think of Subway as a "lesser of the evils". I would assume compared to your big chain fast food places such as McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, and Taco Bell, it would be considered a "healthier" alternative then the others. Then again wtf do I know lol.

Definitely goes without saying. It's the last resort among last resorts when you need food and are in a situation where those are the only choices. Ill absolutely eat subway again when I have to but only because it is the lesser of the evils.. That is, unless theres a chipoltle around. Just knowing what I know about their food and its contents I can't willfully go and grab a subway sandwich and be satisfied . Not to mention I always have to dump after eating one and no matter who you are you're gonna be hungry an hour later.

After skimming this thread, I can definitively say that Subway definitively does screw up your testosterone:estrogen ratio-whether you eat it or not!
There is a whole lot of roid raging and PMS'ing going on here.

Seriously, we are talking about a freaking fast food joint--not abortion, global warming, or world peace.
It never ceases to amaze me how much passion we can put into truly pointless issues.

Not to mention the fact that it is flawed to view a restaurant or a food as "healthy" in toto.
There are no "healthy" or "unhealthy" foods, but that is a separate debate

It's a discussion .
I don't WTF you mean by there are no "healthy" or "unhealthy" foods.

Okay. Lets get our sticks removed from our asses. If your thinking of fast food places to eat chances are subway isn't your only one.

Lets throw that out the window. Take a look at your grocery list and all of the ingredients in all of your food. Chances are if you shop at Walmart and buy great value or another genetic store's brand your putting your body at risk.

My philosophy is the 90/10 mentality. 90% best effort nutrition and 10 % who gives a ****. If I want subway I don't eat it every day I eat it maybe once a MONTH !

Pretty much all fast food is worse for your body than an MRI but you can't live in fear.

Just my. 02 cents.

I think the debate was wether or not it was healthy . The answer is no. Is it better for you then McDonalds yes.

Not only is it not healthy, but the sandwiches taste mediocre at best and they never put enough meat on them, unless you ask for extra meat and then they charge you extra. I would rather just order a "fatty" sub with fries from a local sub place. It wouldn't be the healthiest choice, but it would be better than subway. At least you would get a decent amount of meat.

This being said I just drank beer on the lake all day and drunk crushed a 12 piece family meal that was all thighs, 6 biscuits covered in honey, large sweet tea, cole slaw, and mashed potatoes and gravy, and one fried peach pie. Now that is the pinnacle of health
