When people think of bodybuilding, one name comes to mind — Arnold Schwarzenegger.

But is he overrated?

Arnold Schwarzenegger dominated the sport in the 1970s, winning seven Mr. Olympia titles. His combination of size, symmetry, and charisma made him an icon. But was it that the competition wasn’t as fierce back then, or was it his personality that gained him so much notoriety?

One thing is for certain: Arnold had massive arms, a wide chest, and a tight waist. His posing routines were unmatched, and he knew how to command the stage like no one else.

At the time, his physique was considered nearly perfect. Compared to his competitors, he was bigger, leaner, and more aesthetic. He set the standard for what a champion should look like.

But would Arnold’s physique hold up today?

My first reply was going to be that yes he was overrated and he wouldn't be able to even get a pro card today. But then I stop and think if you took any athlete from Arnold's era and put them in sports with today's athletes we would say the same things because everybody is just bigger stronger faster and better as time, science and performance enhancement drugs progresses.

But probably if those same individuals grew up in today's world with today's advancements and today's standards they probably be just as great or greater than the currents.

It's really hard to compare time eras.

Babe Ruth hit 714 home runs. Put everybody forgets to mention that he was playing against regular Joe's who worked the day job, nobody was in the fitness or lifted weights, The average pitcher only threw about 80 mph and they were often drunk at their games. Most of today's high school baseball teams would have be a professional baseball team in the 1920s lol

I don't think so, they just had different standards back then, I feel like now he would not win with his body, but just because the criteria is different. Back then they seemed to have more of an aesthetic focus, now its purely about how much dense muscle you can pack into one small area. If he was born into this era, his body would have been different and with his work ethic and genetics, I think he would have made waves

The tie breaker for him was his personality he could sell anything. Probably became buddies with the right people.

I don't know. Have you ever seen how fast Babe runs around those bases on those old clips?

I agree. I think in today's world, Arnold would still be a force to be reckoned with.

I think his work ethic coupled with today's standards and the availability of knowledge drugs supplements etc he would be right there with everybody else. Personally I'd like to see him fail in today's world because he's a monstrous hypocrite. But it doesn't change the fact that I think he would have did well by today's standards if he was trying to achieve today's standards

Arnold did anything and everything for fame. His first few wins, there was like 1 or 2 people in the contest.
A product of the times. Sergio smoked him IMO, but Arnolds personality sold magazines, books, & supps for Weider.

He's a loony cuck these days (which is sad) but he's always been a whore, nothing new there.
(When he first came to the US, he first would stay w/ gay millionaire Paco Arse) for private 'sessions', nude posing and probably the start of G4P... He also was in that stolen Corvette ring with Paul Graham.

Not a good person IMO, but a great career. The guy is driven, focused and successful...
Lets not forget the 14 yr old babysitter in Vince Basiles breezeway (Vinnie Breezeway) in Australia back around the 1980 Olympia. A real PoS, but again, very successful...

As great a man as he was….he is not a good person. Classic “do as I say, not as I do” type of guy

Also, the guy impregnated his housekeeper who was absolutely hideous… I wouldn’t bang/impregnate her to save the human race. Lazy, low self esteem cheater on top of being a hypocrite
