Ideas to get product reviews up?

Earn 2 bucks store credit per product review?

We have a nice product review feature on our site but need to get it active and get some quality reviews on there. I want our site to educate our customers. I know there are a ton of educated supplement users here with lots of reviews you could post. Im just throwing this out, but what if I ran a contest on who wrote the most quality reviews on our site and the winner get 50 bucks in store credit or product of choice such as Mega TRN, would that entice you to do it? If not what would be some ideas?

Well if you do that, you're encouraging imaginary reviews... I'd say, make a contest where people write up reviews, then they choose which one to enter in the contest. Then have judges decide which review is the best. Have numerous prizes in order to stimulate competition and the idea that it is possible to actually win something interesting. Make an easy deadline, like last day of the month, whatever... You can be the judge or whoever, I dunno...
 
I see your point and we definitely dont want made up stuff, however I do need quantity and quality. What if I paid each person $2.00 in store credit for every review they did but also set a limit at 5 per month and also review each one for approval? Would this be more enticing than a contest?

Yes it would. I see you carry a lot of products I've used but I don't seem motivated to write reviews. Your proposal would probably motivate me to do so.

Ok, thats what it will be. Post your reviews and receive 2 bucks per review, with a limit on 5 approved reviews per month. Make sure to create an account as there is an id# that I would need to search them on. It would also help to put your forum name in the the box for the name to help keep track
 
Kris4153, i put your forum name under that review to keep track. Its also tracking by customer id, but this gives me a second option or backup tracking.
 
I think the way you outlined it in the first post and you would get imaginary reviews, false reviews, etc.

Just a suggestion - maybe offer a coupon for people that when they buy a product, if they do a review for it, they get to use the coupon on their next order.
 
Can you use their email addy as the name for the coupon?

Then once they write a review they email you and let you know. You confirm they have indeed made a review then set up a coupon in their email addy name minus the @ if you have to.

Not sure if your back end is able to do individual coupons like that or not.
