I just dropped $200 on new gear

Now I am definitely going back to training almost full time. Bought some sparring gloves, shin guards, MMA sparring gloves, and a red mouthpiece (wanted this for a while now). Its been almost a year since I bought some equipment, so I was a little overdue, but I have been hesitant to spend the $ because I wasn't sure how much time I could devote to the sport. Now that I've gotten a consistent schedule and I have my drive again, it was time to reinvest.

good to see... buying gear sucks... i need me some new rash guards, and a pair of shirts and a new gi would be nice... but what sucks worse is making the time to go.. i feel you bud it is hard. Best of luck to you!

hey Rodja, what did you end up getting? I am looking into adding gear so that I can join in the sparring sessions at my gym, will need boxing gloves, head gear, and maybe shin pads.

the most important piece would be the boxing gloves, and we (well, everyone else) uses them quite a lot in our classes.

any suggestions with a reasonable price tag?

I bought fairtex sparring gloves (14 oz), shin guards, traditional headgear, and some throwdown MMA sparring gloves. Pricey, but worth it considering I only buy gear 1x/yr.

I use 14oz. gloves myself to train. Perfect weight. You don't even need headgear. Well..I never wear head gear when I spar..just not used to it lol. I feel like a big-ass target. I'd rather avoid than take anything w/ the headgear on.

I am not a huge fan, but I am going to be kicking up the intensity on my sparring. Plus, I gotta protect my brain as much as possible.

Where did you pick up your gear from Rodja? I am debating on selling my gear, have no time to train right now.

And you should always wear head gear for hard sparring. I hate it but after some good sessions your brain will thank you for it,lol.

yeah not sure what I going to go with, I like the fairtex, I also like a pair of rival gloves I saw. A lot of guys at my gym just have century gloves and title headgear.

my mma gloves are century, my boxing gloves are title and my insteps are Piranha Gear

I got it from MMA Warehouse.

For your info I'm adding my training sched below... Good luck to you my friend...

TUESDAY:
5:00-6:30pm Submission Grappling

THURSDAY:
5:30-7:00pm Takedowns Class (No Gi)
7:00-8:00pm Basic Striking

FRIDAY:
10:30am-12:00pm Submission Grappling
6:30-7:30pm Adult Open Mat

SATURDAY:
1:30-3:00pm MMA Basic Training

The coach has advised me that I should be taking the Gi classes as well, since he says he doesn't allow people to fight MMA until they reach a blue belt in BJJ, but I'm not planning on fighting, just want to know how...

MMA Warehouse is top notch. I remember get free stuff before from them. This is many years ago though. Still they offer good service. Actually placed an order with them the other day on there black friday sale.

Title website sells some really good things at decent prices. I have there focus mitts and insteps. The focus mitts felt the same as the throwdown ones.

And what red mouth piece did you get? Sounds pretty cool. I had blue ones before that were pro molded but Vegas summer heat got to them. I have regular clear/black ones now. Picking up a pink one,lol for real though..

I'm jealous of you guys pursuing your dream. Kinda got a grant from the government for my service so I'm in college. If I didn't I'd be training full time like you guys.

I sincerely hope you guys succeed and become awesome fighters.

lol.. I actually have a pink one... one day after training had open mat and was going to spar a bit and forgot my mouthpiece so I tried to get the gym owner to give me one on credit as I didn't have money on me and he gave me a pink one and told me to keep it... I Still wear it too

I'm currently in grad school and have been in school during the entire time I have been training/fighting.

Just picked up some new gear a few weeks ago and love it... throwdown 16oz sparring gloves+grappling shin guards. I'm also using the combat sports open palm mma sparrring gloves now and they're awesome.

I was going to get the CSI gloves, but I don't like the finger loops they have.

yea they're kinda goofy but the gloves are great for sparring because you can still go to the ground and actually work grappling.
They just don't last too long. The throwdown ones a little bit more expensive, but their finger loops are designed better.

I am thinking about buying another gi I was going to get a Fuji because they are dirt cheap where did you get your Reevo gi from?
