Hyde Puts Hercules to Task

Today water bumps to 2.5 gallons (already feel water drunk) and hit some steady-state cardio for an hour. Saw a friend who is competing in the first ever World's Strongest Woman this weekend in the lightweight. She's doing the same watercut strategy but will incorporate some Epsom baths and sweating as she has to cut the same amount as me but from 151 to 140. She's basically on a Jon Anderson diet atm and I got to eat cheddar Chex mix last night lol. BUT she's also going to be the best 140 in the world so she has that going for her at least

What is your watercut strategy?

Weighins Friday at 9am

Water started 1 gal sat, 1.5 sun, 2 mon, 2.5 tues, 2.5 wed, 24oz Thurs (all by 9)

Sodium rises each day up to 4g today ideally to keep up with extra water, drops to low as possible Wednesday. None Thursday. Magnesium is doubled over normal to 1600mg, and potassium increases as well and these are kept stable throughout Wednesday, pulled Thursday. Carbs are eliminated Tuesday (today).

Last and only meal Thursday is at 9am. 4-6oz plain chicken breast and handful unsalted almonds w black iced coffee (diuretic) w/ 2g Vitamin C and dandelion root extract.

Weigh in Friday?

A whole day without food and water... That sucks.

I'm curious, what is the trend during this? Increased weight over the higher water days and an extreme drop off?

That's how all water cuts go for competitions with 24 hour weighins. Just part of competing. Chewing gum is helpful that day.

You achieve a state of hyper hydration; your weight is irrelevant. It helps the body rid itself of more water when you finally shut everything off. And you don't want to actually lose dry weight when water cutting if trying to keep strength so you have to up your fats and proteins; the intent is to evacuate water and then supercompensate when you reload to be even heavier and stronger. Keep in mind carbs are also depleting so glycogen loading will also supercompensate some. I will make sure I get 6-800g carbs on Friday.

What type of carbs do you plan on carbing back up with? Will you use any powders or will it be all whole food. If so what choices? I would assume you want everything to be very easy to digest and not to heavy on your stomach. Have you thought about adding in glycerin seems you might be able to hydrate your muscle faster adding some glycerin with the carbs.

You'll have to tune in Friday for that! But correct: ease of digestion is key and fructose is generally eschewed (the liver can obviously only hold so much).

Sounds great, I will definitely stay tuned!

Lovin' the science on this...

Broscience! Lol but it works, so whatever, I say.

Well I'm about 1.5 gallons in and chasing 3. Morning weight was 228.8 so I need to add some more fats. Naked cheeseburgers, chicken breast, eggs, guac, pb, almonds mainly today.

Bird Dogs, Side Planks, Sled Drags, Pullaparts, Light Hammercurls and Goodgirls. Worked up to 135 for couple sets on squat and bench and 4 singles at 225 on deadlift. Feeling great.

Have some beer. There's water in there.

Actually light beer is a perfectly acceptable last drink tomorrow compared to iced coffee (both are diuretics). Duffin uses Silver Bullets I believe, but as I don't drink and love coffee the choice is simple.

2 tbsp coconut oil, 1.5 scoops chocolate whey, splash of water....Mounds pudding baby!

You actually taste coconut in in coconut oil?

Day 35 of Hercules

Morning weight 228.2

Had 6oz unseasoned chicken breast, handful of almonds, 24oz water and 8oz coffee at 9am. Took 100mg Hercules w it, the dandelion supp, an extra gram of Vit C, and normal supps (OT, Oximega, D3, Turmeric, Mag).

Bathroom and already back down to 229.0 - looking good for this!

I guess I need to try a spoonfull

Depends...
Oh yeah, bigtime
With the EVCO you can but if you get the mildly processed for cooking you can't taste it at all. Well I can't anyway.
I guess I need to try a spoonfull
Even the processed stuff doesn't taste bad and I use it a spoonful at a time. I even swish it around in my mouth and between my teeth because it is also anti-bacterial. Can help with bad breath and help keep gums healthy.

Didn't know the anti-bacterial part...good info Kleen. My gf always swore it freshened her breath too so her anecdotal account would back you up!

Dude you are a wealth of knowledge

No idea on anti-bacterial, but it definitely sets the breath at a reasonable place and without a doubt bleaches the teeth.

Swished straight that is; Mounds pudding not so much!

LMAO! That doesn't even sound fun... I can only handle a few bites of pudding then the consistency gets to me. I have a big thing with foods consistency. I can eat some stuff that tastes horrible and be okay but even things that taste good but have weird consistency will make me nauseated while eating it.

I even have a hard time with scrambled eggs and I love them. However 5 a day every morning I get about half way through and start having to wash down every bite quickly with some water. Things like lima beans, peas, liver the grainy texture of them makes my skin crawl.

What's the morning weight? Sounds like you were well on your way last night.

Bad, I woke 223.2 at 6am. Started chewing/spitting and made the bathroom into a sauna again; toggling between getting under the stream to keep body overheated and toweling off over and over as I sweat to avoid reabsorption. Left the house at 8am in sweats/hoodie and rode w heat on full blast, toweling off my face as I made the hour drive, spitting the whole way.

~217.5. Just over a kilo under. That was at 9:30.

Current weight, 3 hours later: 229.8

I am filling out incredibly well, better than I ever have by far. Just listening to my body and not pushing too hard too fast.

Awesome, glad you made weight, Not surprised at all. That looks like a full day of eating for sure.

Today's diet:

Carbs, carbs everywhere...glad you made weight bro. Same thing here, I may not get time to get on here in the AM so go fug shît up.

Pizza is for a night cap btw. Being too full from the fats won't slow me down if it's the last meal anyway so might as well get the extra calories. Nobody has a weak performance off of pizza the night before.

On the contrary, i believe it is confirmed that pizza brings prs...its basically accepted throughout the scientific community as a law.

Exactly. Carbs are already over 570g atm and less than 84 are from fructose. #gettinjacked

920g carbs, 120 fructose max. 90g fat and protein not more than that, so ~4,700 cal. About double cals for a low day for me. Sitting over 235lbs. Catch y'all tomorrow.

Pizzadrol dosed at 300 gram slices, 12 a day, FTW

Good luck today!!!!

Big numbers today!

Thanks everyone!!! Woke at 231.5 with really no bloat, just very full and felt awesome and confident.

Felt 584 really slow past knees so I really focused on just squeezing my glutes thru. Locked it out fine but there was some unintentional swaying/hitching and I'm tight w the head judge so he's gotta be Nationals level strict w me, which is fine - I don't need gifts. Everything today was 3 whites except 3rd pull, back feels healthy, and I'm absolutely as strong as ever now. 5/6 attempts, 865 total and nearly had 898 in Push-Pull at 220. Awesome day.

Bench looked great dude! Solid PR and with some more building on the bottom end, you'll be in good shape. Are you a grinding type lifter in all of your lifts? I'm wondering if speed work and long pauses might be your ticket to 350. I don't think you're very far from that, you're riding a good wave of positive momentum.

That means the most to me coming from you, considering the people you have learned to bench around! Thank you, my lockout is still so strong from the cycles of board work from over a year ago if I can get it halfway I can finish it. I did a lot of pausing this Predator cycle (coupled w lots of volume and muscle work obv) and that definitely helped the bottom end. More pausing is definitely a good idea for me.

My muscle fibers are like a diesel engine unfortunately - if I don't grind a lift I wasn't truly maxing out. I feel speed work definitely makes me faster, but I can't run it for more than 6 wks without getting beat up. I can toggle bands and straight weight every 3 wks perhaps tho to alleviate that I bet.
