How much protein can you actually take in

I am starting this to see what everyones opinion actually is. I have never actually seen this in writing. I beleive seriuos
training requires 1.5-2 grams per pound of body weight.

However what I have heard is that if you take in more than that, it will actually pass thru your urinary and you will piss it out. Is that a myth or fact?

Excess protein will be used for energy by being converted to carbohydrate through deamination. What is excreted is the leftover nitrogen component.

Most research from European powerlifters says that 1.5-2.2 g/kg is optimal. However, from experience, I have noticed that most stay within the 1-1.5g/lb range. Any more than that is usually overkill and is converted to either glucose or excreted through urine.

i personally think 1g per lb is more than enough. i weigh 178 lbs and ill get around 200g each day. if i get much more than, i feel tired. amino acids can be converted to glucose or even form triglycerides so not all the protein you take in will be geared towards muscle building/preservation.

i think the amount needed for cutting is much more important than when in a calorie surplus. while bulking, i dont stress about my protein intake because im getting more carbs and fats from my diet that will spare the aminos from being converted.

of course, using any type of anabolics would negate this as protein turnover/synthesis is much higher.

Great info, thanks guys.

I will stick to my 2 grams when I get back to training after surgury. Always worked for me. Of course as I have tried to add more when on gear but I just get the fealing of over full and then miss my next meal.

Stresses your liver and kidneys.
Ammonia can come out through sweat aswell, aparently has a distinct smell but I cant imagine how much protein you would haveto consume to have that effect, the amonia smelling sweat is usually produced from drug use not diet.
