How do you stiffle your sudden hunger?

I just had a MASSIVE hunger attack. I had a protein shake and 4 eggs and am now feeling alright. I don't like taking appetite suppressants this late at night because it keeps me awak, obviously.

So, what do you do?

Drink water. Or simply eat. If you are having appetite issues.. Obviously your body is trying to tell you something.

If you get hungry before bed... Simply eat something clean and proportioned. Then fill the rest with water. Avoiding food before bed is worse then eating a shitload before bed.

Yup, if your eating clean every 2-3 hours being hungry shouldn't be a factor. However I read somethings that do help with hunger pangs, such as brushing your teeth, chewing gum, or just being pre-occupied with activities will get your mind off your diet.

same here its crazy... but what i'll do is i'll have packs of salami or i dunno what.... and just eat one slice every hour... i figure in a matter of about 4 or 5 hours i only eat about 180 calories..... somethings better than nothing to me... lol

I nag the gf for sex, by the time I get out of bed I'm sure I deserve a meal. I get the most hungry at night, so, I sometimes just ad fiber to my evening shake to make sure I don't give in and eat too much before bed.

i usually eat, helps the hunger go away pretty quickly. okay sorry i'm leaving now

Perfect answer! :donut:

Eat a salad with balsamic and olive oil. Spinach seems to work best for me and I have not seen a diet that says you can eat to much greens. If you need to cut out the oil.

My second choice would be the psyllum husks (Metamucil). Orange metamucil actuall tastes pretty good by itself or mixed with most proteins.

As mentioned lots of water seems to help as well

me? i eat. i realize that if you're on an extreme cut, you may need to starve yourself a bit at times. i would suggest at those times, what i had used to do, was i would eat a stalk or two of celery, take a half scoop whey in a BIG glass of water.

I agree with the statement earlier of drinking some Xtend!

If that's no good for you...have some cottage cheese.

Either:

1. Drink some water with Crystal Light and/or BCAA's works.
2. Eat something clean.. possibly carrots, digest slow and takes an extra boost of cals to digest.
3. Activity, as in hangout with friends or something.
4. Last and worste.. cigs curb hunger. (I don't go that part but friend does)

By the way, Metamucil makes a no sugar pink lemonade now... Delicious. Settles a sweet tooth urge, and can plug up some of that hunger pang. Just START SLOW!

I'm not sure if you're cutting or what... but I always have a shake before bed with some slow digesting protein (usually casein) - the cottage cheese recommendation is good too. I also like almonds and cashews - but that might be outside of your caloric profile from the sounds of it.

Hunger Pangs

Well, I'll tell you what I am very strict with my eating when cutting, but I find that hunger pangs come and go. You just have to deal with them.

Basic boring cutting intake:

6-8 times, my main carb intake is first AM, and breakfast.

As soon as I wake 1 cap lean extreme, and my nexium for my GERD.

1. Meal one, whey protein and 6-8 oz grapefruit juice.

2. 8-10 egg whites, 1/4 cup oat bran or 1 serving kashi go lean cereal with milk, maybe some blueberries on top.

3. 1 tin of sardines in water, and a serving of carrots

4. 8-10 oz chicken/turkey/sirloin 6 oz green veggies, with various other veggies usually no dresssing.

5. 1.5 hours prior to gym Whey protein 40 - 60 g, and some MCTs, BCAAs, 3 gm argnine,

30 mins prior to gym: 1 serving of superpump by gaspari and off to the gym...

WORKOUT

6. 60 g whey with 60 g carb usally mix.

7. Salmon/Chicken maybe a healthy stir fry (no carbs)

8. Fat Free Cottage Cheese

9. Cassein Protein

ZMA - SLEEP

I always have hunger pangs, they rarely ever go away. Just get use to them, and if they bother you that much try the tricks mentioned about here are some others:

- Decaf green tea + a gluccamannan (forget how to spell it)
- Contract your abs for 15-30 secs a few times, it works.

To be honest I really eat for the most part 80-90% like above most of the time. During a bulk I'll add a bit more carbs, have some oat bran prior to lifting, and maybe add Up Your Mass or another weight gainer.

So far, so good. 32 6' 210 lbs at 8.8%, problem I have is that last bit of fat on my lower abs. More cardio probably...but not to much since I'm a hard gainer by nature.

A casein protein shake in the eve does it for me, and I used to be a big late night carb freak. A casein shake and I feel full with no food cravings at all.
