How do you keep your motivation up during bulk?

I have been trying to bulking from 195 to 215 over the last 3 months and I managed to hit 212, but then I kind of blew my diet for a while. I dropped back down to 205. When I am stressed out, the last thing I feel like doing is eating. Anyone else get this? What helped? I try to suck down a weight gain shake, but my calories take a nose dive when I'm really busy or stressed. Weight is slowly coming back now, but what do you guys do to keep eating much for so damn long? I have been using fitday, which helps...

thanks for the input.

Its hard to give an exact answer because personally and from the sounds of the consensus its hard to not keep motivated while bulking (all that food:food: )

From the sounds of it your not having problems eating clean but rather just putting in the work of eating the amount of food it takes to grow (which can be a task.) Have you ever tried a appetite increasor? If your hunger level isnt there and you dont feel the motivation to eat everything you need to it would be beneficial to try something that will boost your hunger levels.

Also if you find yourself sticking at a certain number (like the 212 after two months) it could also be a problem with your body adjusting to training methods and so on. Change/variety is essential to your success and a week break from the gym or even a change in training style (unless your still progressing, then a week off would suffice) would do your body well.

As far as motivation that reall is a personal thing imo. While bulking I just love the feeling of knowing every meal I eat is going towards my goal of trying to become a mass monster. Think to yourself while bulking that your goal is achievable (212 to 215 is doable man, it will take time but with strong dedication you'll get there.) If you hit a setback like not eating and dropping some weight its ok but get right back on it with a solid meal plan(fitday like you said is a life savor), adjust your training or take a week off like I said before, and above all know that every meal you eat is going towards you goal of 215.

Also any hot pictures or girls you like are great motivation to get to your goals :chick: :D

Get Pumping Iron on DVD and toss it on whenever you're slacking off. Its one thing that ALWAYS gets me ready to lift

Thanks for the advice guys. Yeah...definately a ecto problem...I've always been like that. Small stomach? I don't know.

I've tried Black Hole from creative labs but I really didn't feel anything. Maybe I'm used to the effects of real THC:head:

I find it helpful when I see someone who I haven't seen in a few months and they are like "wow you got big!". It's hard to see the gains on a daily basis...

On the bright side, when I dropped back to 205 I lost a lot of the new bodyfat I gained with my bulk.

Honestly, when I bulk the biggest motivator is that triple meat or quadruple meat bacon, jalapeño, and cheddar burger from whomever is serving it.

That's my 'backup' plan when I feel like crap and don't feel like eating. I can ALWAYS go for a MONSTER SIZED BURGER.

Granted, nutritionally it sucks, but you still get the protein, and carbs and you don't 'lose' because of it. You can always make up for it on the flip side when you cut.

Otherwise, a good sensual massage normally does the trick :) Nothing like a kick in your libido, to get you 'undepressed'.

When all else fails, don't let the protein intake suffer. Protein is the key to NOT losing all those gains.

I typically get sick of the food from time to time during my bulkers. This is usually during the stages of PCT, as im still trying to keep my cals up.

I find this is mainly due to a plain diet, irregular eating schedule when i stuff cause of time issues, or I feel "full" all the time or just overall sick of eating BIG (esp for my small frame/body). I typically try to eat small every 1.5-2hrs (having stawberries/yogurt/shake now!).

When this happens i typically lean towards shakes rather than fattier foods, so i atleast get the protien without the added fat. This helps even more now since im doing a somewhat lean bulker.

Always have a couple of somewhat cheat meals that can eaisly make up for some slacking throught the day/week. I have good to OK meals that i know i will not turn down no matter what and wont nessesarly kill my diet plan. Its a meso thing. :food:

Satirewolf, I hear ya on the protein. It is definately my priority when I don't feel like eating. I also try to throw some extra L-glutamine in my shake so I don't lose too much.

You might try Arnold Swartzenheimer (yeah the governator's) muscle bound diary he wrote to get some tips on ye ole' hunger problem. He'd make weigh shakes with beer instead of water when he was bulking amongst other things. He also used 'other' technique's to increase the ole' hunger factor. I wouldn't recommend his appetite approach though. But the biggest point is if you're having issues 'eating' it's probably because what you're eating isn't appetizing. Find things that you LIKE to eat, and focus on making those work nutritionally. If you're stuffing down bleh stuff all the time, of course your motivation is going to suffer.

How would you do eating non-tasting non-textured uncolored bleck all day long, even if it was the best darned stuff in the entire world for you nutritionally. It's the reason we'll never have the perfect 'food pill'. People would go nuts without food.

Hmm well I like to think of my gf's friends or a friend of mines girlfriend when I train or eat. If I'm eatting and training hard enough I'll get at least a one night stand with em.

lmao, hahahahaha

Man I love bulking, just eat KFC, one drum stick has like 400 calories lol. The big crunch burger has probly 700 calories. ITS DA GOOOD ****. Because you must be a hardcore ecto, so a little dirty bird is all good.

Im in the same boat, even a Wendys spicy chicken burger isnt appealing to me right now.. mind you i think Ive gone off wendys for life after seeing a chick picking nose out the back and getting my Burger delivered to me by a tranny last week.. FFS!

having trouble even getting down Vit C water right now.. (its always a struggle)
