Hook staps for deads

Has anyone used hook straps for deads. The reason I ask is the biggest limiting factor I have right now is my right hand grip. Wrist surgery years ago has left me with some nerve damage and there are times when I can not "squeeze" adequately. The weird thing is that it seems most prevalent while doing deads. I have tried overhand and alternate grips and regular straps. Been through PT a few times with this issue, but my gut feeling is that I am stuck with it. Any advise? Thanks

I've been using Haulin' Hooks Hardcore for a while and I'm quite pleased with them. They work as you'd expect and mine have held up quite well so far. It's a ripoff but pay the extra $6 for the rubber tubes that cover the hooks, if you don't cover them the metal-to-metal contact will abrade the knurling on your bars.

well if you must use some type of grip aid, i would suggest using the hooks instead of straps.... but its just a personal preference

im definately more of a strap user, altho i dont really use anything. the hooks are too much imho. in your case however, there may not be much of a choice, it seems.

I've used have and prefer the regular straps over hooks because with regular straps my grip isn't completely removed. With hook straps I basically just let them do all the work. I think there are times when using one over the other has more benefits but if you're talking about a medical issue then they might be the way to go to allow you to complete the exercise.

i prefer versa grips, they feel very natural and seem to supplement your grip as opposd to taking over.

I agree with all of you, but the case of him having a hard time to close his hand, hooks would be his best bet

The hooks are a good deal overall. I use them in a variety of ways, as I had left wrist surgery a few years back, and my grip has never been the same either.

I tried the Haulin' Hooks recently. What a difference! I was able to pull 425 quite easily. Thanks for all the input.
On a side note, I saw a specialist about my wrist last week. He wants to try injections/ rehab to see if I can get more consistent grip strength. He seemed pretty confident. I am guardedly optimistic.

Good luck, and like was said above pull over over. The only reason to pull over under is if you compete or don't use straps. Do whatever you can to pull, those hooks are not the best, but if that is what you are working with, go for it.

I agree, hooks are not the best. I personally pull over/under, but use nothing.

I pull both over and have to use straps over 405. Got some from iron mind but they drill into my wrists, almost drawing blood def leaving rasberries on the inside of my wrists.
Makes me wanna be able to lift more without em.

I can only close the #2 COC gripper but im workin on it
