I hope this will suffice....This is Hip-Hop to me. I feel sorry for all these kids that are growing up now. At least i can say i had the pleasure of being in this era when i was a teenager.

I like the old school stuff myself....This newer sh!t, even a few years back to "Soldier Boy", makes me hate young black kids, LOL.....

Naw, but their music sucks, has no flow, real meaning, anything....last thing I heard and said WTF to was some "fine like a ticket on the dash" lyric.....I don't even know how that's called music.....Just leave me to my metal!!

Or this stuff....

If onyone likes real hiphop music, post your fav video here.
Early- mid 90's hiphop best era. Jay, Nas and Biggie. Before that Big Daddy Kane and Rakim (who is still great), Wu-Tang, Tribe Q among many others. Today's hiphop scene sucks give or take a few artists like Em, Dre, Immortal Technique, Mos Def, Kanye (great talent), Lupe, Lil Wayne (sometimes)...oh and Justin Bieber.

Binary Star - reality check
CunninLynguists - Lynguistics
Blu & Exile -The World Is
Blu & Exile - Cold Hearted
B.I.G - I got a story to tell
Lupe Fiasco (food and liquor album)

+ I like a lot of Linkin Park (nu metal) always got decent lyrics.

Edit: Adding to my list - KRS1 and can't believe I forgot about Talib Kweli.

There is LOTS of talent out there these days still, its just nothing gets recognized. People think that whats on TV is all thats out there. This couldnt be any further from the truth. Much talent in the world but yea...bashman hit it with Binary Star!

Its nice to know that there are still heads out there. I like alot of different music besides hiphop also. Listen to a little bit of everything besides country....makes me sad listening to that stuff.

Sad....eh...I don't care for it, but I caught this video awhile ago and fell in love :D

I swear to god if someone post some crap like lil wayne, soljaboy etc :stick: , not even worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence of "hip hop" lol.

I listen to primarily heavy metal/hard rock. But always loved wu-tang, onyx, mos def, talib, common etc even some newer ones like Lupe Fiasco and Jedi Mind Tricks, Atmosphere. And especially the old outkast, not their new ****, but old school like the Atliens cd which was amazing. And tech-n9ne is insane as well.

Pry my fav Lupe Fiasco song, lyrics and meaning are just sick (and the beat is sick too), def one of the best lyricist around hands down

old school Outkast is so much better then their new stuff:

ice cube:

Dead Celebrity Status is cool too:

What happened to Mobb Deep, they suck now with their "club" music. Remember all their brutal old stuff:

ChrisSurf, Jedi and Atmosphere have been around for years man...they havent got recognition til fairly recently, but have been around for quite some time. Yea Mobb Deep H.N.I.C record was ill and still is! I feel ya on that one! phatmike, I dont know WTF you posted but...well i guess if thats what ya like. Not hiphop but whatever man. Speakin of whatever man... [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdx6Z7qujIA&ob=av2el"]YouTube - Redman - Whateva Man[/nomedia]

I know there is still talent out there--it is just not on the same platform that it used to be. Hip-Hop went back to the underground where she belongs.

Dudes i'm feeling now are: Celph-titled,Vinnie Paz,Apathy,Murs & 9th...

I thought this vid would be relevant to the discussion.

ha-ha. I feel ya on that. In the breakroom the other day i was talking to this younger kid about hip-hop and some of my co-worker's were looking at me like..WTF..is he serious. Whatever--i'll still be listening when i'm in my fifties.

The LO is classic right there! Yea its like hiphop went back underground. I know it changes but lately its been for the worse and I can bring myself to accept it. The art is lost! Its nice to know that not everyone is listening to trash.

Ive always liked the Beastie Boys. They are very very talented people. They are really talented on numerous instruments as well. Gotta respect em imo. Good one VonD!

Oh I know, I've listened to Jedi for years

This is pry my favorite Redman song, "Def Jam lost they soul
They forgot how to build a artist, so I gotta show 'em"

Its pretty bad when something like this is 10 steps ahead of todays hippity hop.....

Not the best rap per say, but reminds me of growing up. Too bad Boston is nothing like this anymore. Yuppies suck.

I listen to Backspin on my Xm all the time...I love the early 90's hiphop. I really don't care too much for the stuff that is coming out now. I try to listen to it a bit just so I don't lose touch. I love all the Biggie and Tupac stuff, what I don't like is the newer guys(Jay Z) ripping off their lyrics and calling them theirs...

Jay Z was around at the time of Biggie and Tupac. Jay Z even spent time touring with Biggie when he did The Big Mack tour. Jay is the last one you have to worry about stealing lyrics. Biggie's tour DJ, and Producer, is the one who found Jay Z and gave him his start. This DJ is also a friend of mine, so I know a little more then most about the subject.

I highly doubt Hov was stealing anybody's ryhmes--he grew up in a different time and era when it was all about having your own identity and standing apart from the rest.

Speaking of Jay. Here is one of my favorite Jay tracks. This is back when rap had intelligence and good flows. This was also produced by my boy DJ Clark Kent, Brooklyns Finest DJ.

Nice! Reasonable Doubt was...no doubt a classic. I was bumpin' "Can't knock the Hustle" on the way to the gym last night. That track has got the smooth,night-time,cruisin' down the freeway feel to it for sure--the whole album is tight.
