Labrada makes one but its weirdly in chewables.
HICA is an ingredient that I've thought about us doing a single ingredient capsule version of if enough people are interested.
I'm not sure how hica tastes but maybe a pwo size thing of powder. Would use it in my pwo
seems it is decent at reducing doms.I had thought about either a capsule or powder, but products usually sell better in capsules.
If it sold well enough, we could look at doing a powder also.
If we did a powder, due to the high cost of HICA, it would likely be a 100 gram size or something similar.

Someone around here said epi needs hica. I'm doing lots of epichaos with lots of hica, basically cheat codes irl
When you say epi, do you mean Epicatechin? (making sure you didn't mean Epiandrosterone).
I don't think that Epicatechin 'needs' HICA for any reason, but they are both great ingredients so they should make a good stack.
I'm bad with words, that's just what I read. I had success with follidrone before using hica. I think I'd agree to an extent though because all the epi(c) stuff makes me wanna lift yuge volume even if i should take a day off
Results
As compared to placebo, the HICA supplementation increased significantly body weight (p < 0.005) and whole lean body mass (p < 0.05) while fat mass remained constant. The lean body mass of lower extremities increased by 400 g in HICA but decreased by 150 g in PLACEBO during the study. This difference between the groups was significant (p < 0.01). The HICA supplementation decreased the whole body DOMS symptoms in the 4th week of the treatment (p < 0.05) when compared to placebo. Muscle strength and running velocity did not differ between the groups.
Supplementation with HMB (FA and Ca) or α-HICA failed to enhance body composition to a greater extent than placebo. We do not recommend these leucine metabolites for improving body composition changes with RET [resistance exercise training] in young adult resistance trained men.

I remember taking this in a supplement years ago that had Leucine, HMB, and alpha-hydroxyisocaproic acid (and this stuff tasted god awful)
But, I didn't remember the name of what it was, but I was shocked at how well it seems to work.

But you need 1.5g/day to see those kind of results. House of Muscle HICA only contains 500mg in a 60 serving bottle for $30 on Amazon.
I looked to see if this stuff was patented, and I'm honestly not sure. Patents can be hard to read. But, I did go out and search for this supplement for you
Invalid Link Removed $75 for 30 servings
That was the only other product I can find. That leads me to believe it's probably patented, and so the mfg is having to pay for the rights to use it.
However, another study found that found no effects.

If price is an option, why not try HMB instead? You need about 3g/day for it to be effective in it's base form, but you can buy mTOR, which is HMB free acid. It's sold by MuscleTech as Clear Muscle and I ran a free trial of it sponsored by them and lot quite a bit of fat and made some solid strength gains. But, it is also a leucine based product.
But, my question is, is any of this beneficial above the leucine you're already getting from your diet and protein supplement? Whey is rich in BCAAs.
You are going to wind up getting banned for posting outside links to sellers that don't sponsor here. I've seen people point this out to you quite a few times already. I'm surprised it hasn't already happened. That link you posted - the first thing it did was try to sign me up for a subscription service.
The type of HMB sold by Muscle Tech is just a sales pitch on theirs. They are a large company and sometimes ask to use a specific 'name' of a branded ingredient.
HMB is a clinically researched, licensed, branded ingredient but there are a lot of companies that use generic material due to the cost. As long as the brand you buy uses the real branded material, its the same. (If the price is too cheap, that's a good indicator that you may not be getting legit material).
I'm sorry but your last sentence doesn't make sense. You do not get HICA nor HMB in any beneficial amount thru food or whey protein so if you want the benefits of them, you absolutely would need to supplement them. That would be like saying BCAA's aren't beneficial pre and intra because they are in whey protein.

Well, that's something I don't quite understand regarding the rules of the forum. I'm not posting affiliate links, these are just links I'm trying to find to help people out. People talk about vendors like DPS all the time and other sites, so what's the line?
But I thought it was HMB-Fa? You're saying it's not actually mTOR?
HMB is a very controversial supplement, IMO. Because it's patented by Steve Nissan (sp?), the raws are (as I'm sure you know) very expensive. That's why most HMB supplements only contain 500mg-1g per dosage, when you really need 3 or even higher.
There's also an argument to be made that it's total junk. if you're saying HMB-Fa isn't real or isn't sold, then I would make the case that HMB is an overpriced ingredient that really is not needed and doesn't impart much benefit, unless you're willing to shell out the big bucks.

I was referring specifically to leucine. Since HICA and HMB are essentially leucine derivatives, I was asking is it really beneficial to add these other super expensive supplements on top of that since you should be getting plenty of good ole plain jane leucine in your diet.
I had no idea it tried to sign you up for a subscription service. I'm running several adblockers, so I don't see that stuff. I recommend the Ghostery extension for your browser to limit trackers and ads and other web annoyances.

Yeah, BetaTOR, sorry. All I can tell is you from my anecdotal experience, it worked quite well and was cheap, which was it's main selling point. You could take 3g a day of HMB-FA, because I assume it's not patented, but HMB calcium is.
I didn't mean to bring up a debate about HMB, I just wanted to show OP both sides of the argument with it. My contention is that both HICA and HMB are too expensive to use and there are much better supplements out there that will give you much better gains (like beta alanine, creatine, citrulline malate).
I'll just unwatch and drop out of this thread if my opinion isn't wanted or needed. My original intention was to help look for a cheaper source of HICA than OP could find, which is apparently against the rules. My second argument was to try HMB instead of HICA, and my third point was simply that you're getting enough leucine from the whey and food you consume, so there's no need to supplement with these exotic leucine derivative supplements.
Dan out.
Bought 4 more bottles of hica-c
How many mg. per day do you plan on using?
Do you plan on using it daily? Some people only use HICA on workout days; I'm more of a fan of using it daily myself.
Im doing 1.5g 2x a day. I'd probably do it on a day off still. Im doing pretty big volume with home gym though. Lifting twice a day isn't too uncommon for me right now
Understandable. I never ran it at 1.5 grams twice per day but liked it at 1.5 grams per day every day. I tend to always lift heavy (I know some people argue against that, just what works for me).
I think we will likely go ahead with this in capsule form and try to get one out. We have a ton of stuff in production so I'm not sure how quick it would be, but I think we could offer it at by far the best price available.
I Love HICA and when Labfrada offered their chewables, I would take 2,500 mg per day (5 X 500mg chewable) on an empty stomach spread out upon waking, mid day, and before bed and I would always experience noticeable effects. @sns8778 I would definitely buy a big stash if you came out with a pure alpha-hydroxy-isocaproic acid product in 500 mg capsules.
I would love that! I would make it a staple of mine. I love the effects I got from HICAI was thinking 750 mg. capsules for convenience. Would you be okay with that?

Thank you. I have to make sure that 750 mg. can fit per capsule since the raw material is kind of fluffy, but if it can, I was thinking 750 mg. per capsule so it would be more convenient and less caps per day.
