Does a firefighter drug test, test for steroids or anything of the sorts or is it just drugs like cocaine, weed ect...
please help

depends mostly on the station and how big of an area you are working for. i live in a relativly small town and they dont test for aas, ph. if they do they would have to run two seperate tests one for weed, opiates ect, and one for aas, ph. if youre only on ph's than they cant hammer you for that since they are legal.

That helps but what about hair test will that do it cus dont they have to measure test lvls or something like that

unless youre working for the chicago fire dpt. or something that is huge and corporate their not going to go as far as to take a hair sample. thats pretty extreme measures. their going to be more after whether youre hitting up the pipe or snorting down some powder when you go home at night. thanks for the rep points by the way.

oh no prob you helped me so its all good, but yeah its just county fire department and its not for the county which the capitol is located either

was. Im here in washington state. i do personal training now but i was for a while. great job. wonderful adreniline rush. i was on ph's the whole time i worked for em and never had a problem.

Oh see i took PH's but i was getting ready to run some test e and they offered me this job so i think i have a month or 2 before i get to drug test

i knew of alot of guys that did the real gear to get in shape for the dpt. and they were all fine. i wouldnt worry about it as long as youre clear when it comes the mj, coke ect.

not saying this is true at all, but i highly doubt they test for steroids, and if they find anything u'll probably only get a slap on the wrist (from what i hear, this is what our armed forces does).

i know 2 guys who are firefighters. both about 5'7, one was about 200lbs the other about 220....definitely on steroids and the whole world knew it....and they're still fire fighters

exactly nosnmiveins. they want you to be in good shape so they pretty much turn the other cheek if you get caught.

Well I mean think about it. Who is more capable of picking up two kids, kicking down a door while holding them, and running out of a burning building. The 180 Natural guy, or the 220 Iron pumping roider?

Just curious, is the test a pre-employment test, or is it a post critical incident test (example: accident in rig, etc...).
Pre-employment is a little more thorough and they are usually contracted out by an independent lab (not done by department). In addition a hair folicle sample they can test further back than say a urinalaysis. When they pre-employment test they're looking for "recreational drug" usage (marijuanna, crack, meth, pain killers, etc). Something that might indicate a pattern or addiction, or raises a red flag prior to a conditional job offer. A post critical incident test is taken by the department and used to determine whether your ability to perform your duties were impaired at the time of the incident (liability and grounds for termination). These tests are performed by the department and typically will only determine whether you had alcohol, or narcotics in your system at the time of incident. "Anabolic" tests are more expensive than either of the two prior tests, and are NOT typically part of either pre-employment, or post critical incident testing.
Departments can still test for these items, but will usually have a suspicion prior to testing, and hence have to be looking for the anabolic agent when performing the test. This test process will differ from the two mentioned above.

steroid test=$$$$$. most places i know dont do it except professional sports. and in todays financial woes..its probably tossed aside

thank you everyone it really takes alot of pressure off of me because i'm clear or Rec drugs just about to run some test e so i wanted to make sure
