I missed when you signed up for strongman, I'm jealous, sounds like a fun meet and you did pretty decent.

It's way more fun than PL right? lol

It is, but it is far, FAR more punishing than PL! And there's an element of mental fortitude. Like, there's a vast difference between a six to eight second grinder in powerlifting and a max reps or max distance event in strongman.

I feel like it's far more rewarding too, but I still enjoy both. Watching people compete is giving me the itch.

Watched strongman at the San Jose Fit Expo today, I need a real strongman gym to train at...

They don't even hurt, man. It's weird. But they are prominent and get a lot of attention. I've often wondered about getting a tattoo in that area of my arm, but now I can tell I wouldn't like it. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

Traps are more sore than they've ever been. Lower back is very sore and gets tight when I sit or lay for more than ten minutes. Hips and hams are also moderately sore. I'm shocked my quads aren't sore, they took a beating yesterday.
 
my quads never really get sore, its always my hams and glutes.. quads could be painfully pumped but the next day no DOMs there at all. i think for me its strength imbalance, aka need more @ss.

Lol, I dunno,, man. When I was just a gym rat, my quads were sore on the weekly. I'd hit Oly squats 275x4x12, leg extensions, hacks, leg presses, all that. I am definitely more balanced now, I was just going by the amount of strain they were feeling on Saturday. It was that pain down deep. I felt them straining under the farmer's and the sandbag. Not so much stones, though.

Floats a lot higher with the shirt jacked, but I found the groove pretty easily. Lost my scaps a little on the second rep with 455. I guess farmer's walks, stones, and sandbag carries will do that to you.

I'm going to plan a meet cycle working backwards from Sept 6. There's going to be a lot of shirt work, lot of reps off boards, and hopefully a lot of touches. Deload often. Work my conventional deadlift for 3s and 5s, 5RMs off of blocks and pins, and work some heavy stiff legs from a deficit so my butt doesn't want to shoot up before the bar leaves the floor. That and keep with the SSB on squat day to stay upright and work quads more.

Doesn't look like I'll be able to compete in October as I'll be traveling to SC for the winter, so I'm looking for 475+ and 600 on Sept 6.

I agree, man. Sucks a lot. I wanted my elite! Though with all the work I'm putting into the shirt, my raw bench will likely be in the toilet when I bring it back. We'll see about 6! It's gonna be close. I don't want to miss it again, not trying to put a monkey on my back. I might take 580-some, 590-some if 6 isn't there. Prolly going to test my conventional deadlift next week to get an idea of where I need to be.
 
I don't have a meet til November so I guess I'll just have to aim for 625...

My lats are wondering why I thought it would be a good idea to bench heavy yesterday. Definitely wasn't quite ready for all of that.

Still getting leaner, though. Saw some vascularity in my delts I haven't seen since last July when six weeks of carb nite had my BW down to 214, and I weighed 234 pre-training. Pretty nice!

If there's something simple that needs done, there's always that one person that will find a way to **** it up.

Just have him blow in your ear, Lance Stephenson style, preceding your 600 attempt and you're g2g for 600+.

No, it's not that. I'm sure it's building something. I'm just tired of being bent over like a cheap strumpet!

I think I've plateaued on the movement as well, might be time to start working a different movement to improve. And I think I'm going to organize my split the same way you do, so I have the energy to hit pause squats by doing them first on an assistance day.

Its funny how much the equipment helps, man. Every rep I hit above 300 without briefs folded me. Such a pain.

May 24th meet day. I'm not going to be able to jump right back to the weights I was hitting, but I'll be able to ramp into it. Beltless low bar is still offseason stuff, right?

I would switch to lunges in the event they could become a competition movement. Better safe then sorry.

So today I was going to hit speed bench and some OHP, but my pec didn't feel like it today, so I hit some strict standing presses for the first time in forever.
