If you go to estate sales and look around for deals, you'll find so much stuff. No resale value on weight equipment because most people don't get what we do. Everything you see in my shed has been gotten for less than $600 total. And I've bought and sold a leg press machine and slightly flimsier squat rack.

Dam, and you have a lot in there. Good stuff.

I once got 600lb of standard plates, a squat rack, swiss bar, standard bar, and short Oly bars all for $75. It's all out there, man.

Damn I miss a day and this thing blows up!

GREAT pressing, man. I'm jealous.

Farmer's

100s for 100ft (75ft, rest, 25ft)

Foam roll, monster walks, hip circle stayed on for warmup sets

Worked up to 295x8 remove hip circle
335x8 add belt
385x2 add cheap knee wraps
425x1 add Blue Arrow
450x1 PR
Invalid Link Removed

SSB GMs

175x10
205x10

135x10

RDL alternate conv and sumo
225x10x4

RFE Bulgarians
BWx20x4

Wheel of Death (standing)
10x4

Wanted to put briefs on today, but really there's no point when the upper back is the weak link. Same reason I didn't get to fully test the Blue Arrows. That's fine, I need to rest my biceps tendons and I need to build the upper back. ALWAYS MORE UPPER BACK! Seated GMs for the first time. Really crushed the lower traps. Gave me a better idea of how hard to arch my upper back during a squat.

Happy that even though I folded like a cheap tent, I finished that sucker.

Hey man I liked that lift, very nice from that POV. Thumbs up on the PR! You're a strong dude.

Thanks, man. I just need to dial in that form at heavy weights. Now that I have a true 1RM, I'll do reps next week. These 60 second time limits on events are killing me. I get most of my reps in the first 30 seconds, chill for 15, and get a few more in the last 15.

The blue arrows are nice. Much thicker material than my cheap wraps. They're hard to crank on by myself they're so tough. Perhaps not as springy, but a lot more support. And they seemed just as comfy. The wrap roller was a huge success for pre-stretching the wraps.

That's weird. Maybe mine are broken in a bit more. They're easy as hell by myself and a crap load of spring..

It's hard to say when I only use them for one rep. I didn't get down there as fast as I'd like. You'd have to see the other ones. They're the same length but the blue arrows weigh about twice as much. I switched up my wraps too, starting them on the thigh. I used to go bottom-up, but now that I'm wrapping tighter it pins my calf to my tibia a little too hard. Sometimes Sean, I'm just a puss c.

Bottom line- I already like them more, I just need to work into them a little.

Today I mostly played coach to my little brother. He's weighing 195 and after some coaching and spotting today, he PR'ed with a 405 squat and a 425 pull. His deadlift form (he was doing conventional deadlifts with a sumo stance) just needs some work and he'll crank out more by the time he heads to camp.

After squats, we started working on our sumo form. After 225, I put on the briefs and hit a couple sets of 5 with 315. Feeling good, I stepped it up to 405 and then PR'ed with 455. Working the press and upper back tomorrow.

Briefs with the belt latched make it very hard to get down to the bar with hips in proper position, hence the high hips.

Thanks, guys. My calf cramped at lockout from wearing my workboots, which is why I didn't go any further. I think if I were wearing my chuck's I could've brought the bar closer to my shins and not gotten thrown forward as much.

EDIT: We solved that problem by going out tonight and getting my brother the blackout chuck's. They're so frickin cool. I should make him wear my old ones.

Finally in.

For me to get to the bar in a suit, I like to set up tight against the bar, then squat down with an upright torso. Stretching my arms down to the bar, as soon as I grab on, I pull my hips down and forward and that's usually a good starting position. Rather than bending at the waist and trying to get the hips down next.

Hm. I'm still playing with it. My sumo form isn't really down yet, so I need to work on it A LOT. They might be a bit too tight for me to deadlift in them, but it's mostly motor programming.

Today was a goof-around day that was basically a mock meet.

Deadlift (sumo, briefs)
Up to 455x1

Squat (briefs)
365x1
415x1
475x1
515+20chainx2

EDIT: fast forward to 0:55

I was SO worried about losing it forward. The rack is too high to go low bar, so I went high bar and made sure my entire conscious brain was focused on keeping my head back.

Bench
225
295
315
350

We just got into it today. It was pretty fun. NOTE: 515 plus chains was all of the plates Ryan has.

you shot up fast dude

Yeah, I don't have to expend any energy reversing the weight. They were like "GET ANOTHER!" And I knew I would've lost teeth if I had tried again.

It's possible, but with just briefs you should be able to set up pretty well. I've pulled in a tight suit, straps included, and can still set up very well. Like I said, it's more of squat down to the bar to keep your torso upright and hips down.Squats looked nice and controlled, good speed, depth looked shallow though.

Yeah, I probably should just suck it up and get down to the bar. If I get that part of the setup correct, the weight will jump.

I agree on the squats. I had my spotters call depth since I couldn't really feel my way through it and I did a little hula hooping in the hole with 415. I think the first one mayyyybe would have passed and the second one was a mile high.

Lol. Those briefs are the bomb! I did some raw pause squats afterward and my form was locked in. Such a great feeling.

What's your next meet, strongman? What about PL, what federation?

My next meet is a strongman comp May 11. After that I have a full power meet May 25. I'm 99% the meet will be un-sanctioned.

I'm spread pretty thing, but so far my objective is to add a total for my next cycle of the Cube.

Lol. Oh yeah. I'm going to take it easy for a little while after those two meets.

Well you are busting your freaking ass and this strongman stuff with your sled dragging probably has your conditioning way up.

Oh man is my conditioning up. These days I only rest long enough to get the plates on the bar or put on my equipment. I've dropped 15lbs from the bloated mess I was a few weeks ago, but I haven't lost strength. That's usually never the case.

4/29 RE Overhead

Z Press

Barx20
65x15
95x10
115x10
135x6

Klokov Press
95x10x2

Strict Press
135x8
185x1 oops

Bench Press
275x5
295x5
315x3 add slingshot
335x5 I actually paused like I'm supposed to this time.

BB Row
225x8x3 weak on these

DB Row
100x15x4 strong on these...weird

Pullups
BWx8x3
BWx6

Ab Wheel
2 standing, 10 kneelingx3

Whooped after this workout. The vertical pressing really did a number on my speed off of the chest with the bench press. Still the best rep work I've done in some time. Finally got some upper back work in, that needs to return with a vengeance. Might do all of my days as rep days this week. My knees have been taking a pounding from my divebomb squats.

5/1 Rep Squats

High Bar
Barx...
135x10
225x10
295x10
315x8
365x6
385x6 6-rep PR

Walking lunges (long stride, knee touch)

115x20 pacesx2 felt like hams were gonna rip off

Farmer's Walk
115/handx150ft, 3 drops

Rep squats are such a love/hate. Nothing more satisfying to my desire to be badass than heavy squats for reps. At the same time, they hurt so damn much. Especially today. You guys have seen my squat videos, usually my PR attempts are pretty shallow. Today I made sure to bury them all, which made lunging so painful. I'm thrashed.

Farmer's were two barbells with 35s no collars. Very tough. The tubes will be easier than that, so I'm much more confident about 180 per hand. If the session seems short, trust me that was all I had.

I did RE squats today too!

Mine were front squats, and they were absolutely miserable (15-20 rep range goal)....

Oh God. I don't regret getting away from that rep range, not even one tiny little bit.

My buddies were doing more hypertrophy stuff. I'm asking them "How many was that? Fourteen?"

"Nope, ten."

****in cardio, man.
