Fun day so far. Still have to Farmer's walk and deadlift 405 for reps. This isn't my tire, but it's pretty heavy and since it's short, it's hard to get it all in one motion. Flipping that more often will help me to be faster and more efficient.

Note: that little tire that kicked my ass was in the high 400s

That tire bent me over and asked "Do you want me to lube up first?"

And I said, "Naw, just stick it in there. Make it fast, and don't tell me when it's coming."

That fourth flip was good because I actually got full hip extension and was explosive. Time to do some cleans. Deadlifting and farmer's walking now, then doing cleans.

4/14 Event Day Part 2

Dead reps
405x6
These sucked. I've gotten used to setting up between lifts and I don't do high rep deads. Also the straps keep me from getting my air. Excuses excuses. I'm not as strong as I thought I was.

That tire flipping looked brutal! Good work man. Sub'd to your youtube.

EDIT: Being that I post from the phone 90% of the time I missed some of those vids. No idea you had 50 of em!

Lol, yeah. I'm a video whore. It was easy and fun, so now I overdo it.

Turns out my tire flips were all wrong. I was doing what Pro Andy Deck calls the "ugly deadlift". Looks like I'll be doing my squat workout tomorrow and flipping the tire again. We'll show that tire who's a bitch yet!

This is how you dispose of the 300lbs of rubber that you cut out of an 1100lb tire.

4/15 ME Squats (and other fun stuff that happens when I get carried away)

SSB Squat (feet WIIIIIIDE and IPF deep)

Worked up to 335x3 100% raw (buried these, like Ed Coan deep)
385x3 belt & wraps (also PR)
425x1 PR +20

Invalid Link Removed This is the 335 triple and the 425 single.

guy spotting me told me my left knee was getting wobbly, so I moved my feet in maybe 4" for 425. The result: I sat too far back, pushed my knees too far out and had to swoop my knees in to save it. Finished the rep after that. Maybe right at parallel.

SSB GM
155x8

Vogelpullz (stolen from Marshall "Freakshow" Johnson, who stole them from the original freakshow, Chuck Vogelpohl)
These are a rack pull done with a safety squat bar on your back. Only do these if you don't like yourself.
155 SSB/135 rack x3

Tried to do other things, but the low back was shot. GHRs sucked because Hammer Strength GHR's suck. This is when things got extremely interesting.

Doubled up light orange band monster walks and side shuffles and backward monster walks (band at knees)x20min

Doubled up light orange bodyweight box squatx20x5

Band around upper thigh sumo pulls

135x5
225x3
315x3
405x1 tied PR, removed band
425x1 PR +20

The monster walks, band squats, and band pulls have opened up a whole new world for this guy. My ugly 500 squat will become a 500lb beauty on meet day 5/25. Who knows what I can sumo pull whenever I don't annihilate myself beforehand. My feet were collar to collar, I pushed naturally against the outside of my Chucks, my hips stayed in it, and while I was grinding off of the floor, I made it happen. I kind of expect to be weak off the floor sumo since I already am conventional, but Monster Walks as a warmup/preactivation will have me squatting more naturally and a hell of a lot stronger, and cause me to begin progressing at a rapid rate. Pure gold. Buying a Maddog Slanger and the Hip Circle from howmuchyabench.net tonight.

Big things coming, boys and girls. Legs are already feeling it.

4/16 Breaking in the Rage

Lil bro did

245x3x5

I did 245 to a 3 board for 3

315 to a 2

405 dumped trying to drift

405 no board, just taking it as low as the shirt would allow.

Sleeves need to loosen up so I can get the shirt set better.

Strong work with the SSB guy. The #425 went up almost as fast as the the #335. Looked plenty deep enough too.

Haha those Vogelpullz. I know a guy who is attaching a band around his upper body/shoulders and pulling bar weight as well. I tried it and the feel is rather odd and a different load feel over the torso. Not sure what my carryover would be!?

Good fun training here, keep up the strong work

What size is that tire? Like, the actual sidewall notation?

The tire I flipped? I don't know that one. The one in the pictures is a Goodyear 2400-25. 24 ply tire

From what I hear, the pullz are good if you get yourself too far forward on your squat or deadlift. They teach you to sit back and muscle it up.

Thanks about the squats. When I get a PR, that's usually when I stop climbing. Might go for 445 next week, maybe not. If I engage my hips properly, it should go up easily. Like how my knees got all wonky there?

That makes some sense, especially if you are suited.
I tend to be a bit more quad dom and use a slight heel.

Hey I ain't gonna rag on that ****. You pulled it back in and dipped it. Looked okay to me.

Thanks, Paul.

Just ordered my 2m Blue Arrows and the Wrap Adaptor wrap roller. 'Cause I ****in hate stretching and rolling knee wraps. Will update on how that works. I think I'm going to like both things. Briefs, Slingshot, and Hip Circle should all be in by Friday, so life is freaking good. Speed Log session commences in T-45min

the blue arrows are good man. my favorite. I have 2.5m but you can get a massive stretch with them anyways for more coverage

That's what APT recommended for me, though he recommended 3m. I saw that it was $15 more, and homie don't play that. If I like what I have and I feel ready sometime in the future for 3m, I'm getting some got-damn APT Convicts. After getting 36in wrist wraps and not being able to feel my hands, I've learned my lesson as far as not starting with the top end stuff.

EDIT: Thanks are in order for you and AZ for giving me the coupon code.

I get those wraps tight as ****. you'll like them

what briefs did you get

Rodja's Metal Pro's. We happen to be almost exactly the same in lower body measurements, and I couldn't beat that price and them already being broken in.

4/17 Logwork

GPP: Flipped the little tire correctly. Probably 20-odd times. Each one was much smoother, a little more taxing on the lungs. Impossible to do in gravel, I had to find bare patches in the lot. Now I have to force myself to get back in there and flip it one after the other.

My body wants me to not press until Sunday, that much is clear. Used Prilepin's chart for the speed log today. I got faster each rep of each set as I remembered to drive hard with my legs, push my head out the window, and slam my feet back into the ground. I did a LOT of C&J in HS and college. My technique actually used to be pretty good then.

Tire went much better with proper technique. (See vid below)

The Maddog is definitely a sturdy piece of material. TONS of rebound. I need to learn to press with it instead of letting it get the weight off of my chest. The last couple inches of lockout were the toughest. Good to know. I'm used to getting squished on the way down.

Had to do it, man. I haven't taken a day totally off since Saturday. 295 hurt a lot raw. The slanger definitely helped the ouchies. It will build some serious triceps beef.

I always thought I had to do regular bench to get the most out of it but Rodja showed me it is great for floor press and close grip as well. That, ram, or anything like it is good investment.

Definitely! This is great for saving the shoulders. Incline presses would be great.

You know what else is great for saving the shoulders?

Being a man! (As opposed to being a little girl)

Jim, I will get back to you on the matter later, when I'm sober.

My boss told me I was a puss c for not being able to flip the 840lb tire. I'd tell my boss otherwise, but he has three black belts and eats Copenhagen.

Now where was I? Oh, that's right.

Damnit, Jim! Don't be a d1ck!

Briefs are here! Tried them on, but didn't get them all the way up. I have to take a day off sometime this week, and today is that day, so no attempting any squats or deadlifts in my briefs today.

Ah, who am I kidding? I'm taking them for a spin while I have three strong spotters, even if they are drunk.

That was... interesting. Hard to get down to the bar in sumo pulls, and I see now why guys squat only to parallel in multi-ply gear. 225 got stopped cold at parallel and 295 locked up on me an inch high. It wanted to pull my butt underneath me once I got below parallel. Without a belt, the briefs don't do much.

I took great care to jack it up really high and really worked on having vertical shins. I also didn't go any wider than I could get my knees to track. I think my knees were alright, but I don't know. I made the mistake of putting my briefs on right away instead of getting mobile first.

It'll be interesting. I'm **** out of luck if I can't do the June 2nd meet or fly back home in July. Was planning to make the switch after one more raw meet. Not too much out here
