"The Prestige" is truly an ass-kicker of a film - must see!
"The Illusionist" is good, but NOT in the same league.
"Circle of Iron" - thought-provoking action (written by Bruce Lee & James Coburn, starring David Carridine) - *love* this movie.
Coburn is in a terrific Sergio Leone western w/ Rod Steiger, variously titled "Fistful of Dynamite" and "Duck, You Sucker!" (yeah, I know) - If you ever wanted to know how Leone got from Westerns to gangsters, you need to watch this one.
"The Haunting" - the original B&W from 1963 - my GF works in a haunted house every year, and it creeped HER out...much more than the remake did.
"Shadow of the Vampire" is incredible - helps to have already seen "Nosferatu" (old silent version), which inspired it (but it's not a copy)
For I-can't-believe-I'm-laughing-at-this hilarity, "Frankenhooker" can't be beat.
And of course, "The Man Who Fell to Earth", uncut, is the best really-weird movie I've seen.
If you like "Crouching Tiger", you've got to see "Hero" and "House of Flying Daggers".
