Help me out with this C12 Peptide

So believe it or not, the stuff came in today...an entire week ahead of schedule. That sure doesn't happen often!

In any event, as I am putting it up on the site, I had a thought...the active dose for this is 100mg, which is pretty darn tiny. So if someone was to do something stupid and take this without a scale or something, would their blood pressure just drop through the floor? This has actually gotten me pretty worried.

I am contemplating not putting the powder up and just offering it in caps. It is cheap enough that it will still be a heck of a bargain. I just wanted to get some other opinions before I do anything.
 
I'm torn. I want it NOW, but I understand your concern. I'm not very good a looking up studies and such. I did some googling and found this little write-up where it references some studies from the University of Pennsylvania and mentions some done in Japan. Maybe one of the study studs can find the actual studies and decipher them for us.
This page I found mentions administering a single dose of 1.7g with good results. If that's the case, it doesn't sound too dangerous considering thats 17X the dose of the Twinlabs dosage. I guess we'll have to see if someone can find any of these studies and see if these higher dosages were, in fact, used with good results and no side effects.
I may try to pin this down a little later if I get a chance to get in some computer time.

OK oswizzle. Take a whole bottle at once then post back your results. We need to know if a high dose is dangerous. :icon_lol:

C12 Peption is a natural derived ingredient for support of a natural blood pressure mechanism.
It has an excellent safety profile. During clinical studies safety parameters such as Heart rate, common renal and liver toxicity estimators (sodium (Na), Potassium (K), chloride (Cl), Bicarbonate, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, Glucose,
AST and ALT, plasma renin), hematology toxicity estimators (white blood cells (WBC), red blood cells (RBC), Hemoglobulin (Hb), He m atocryt (Hct), Platelet count ), Electrocardiogram tracings were evaluated and showed no side effects. Subjects did not report any side effects such as”) headache,
a feeling of racing heart, digestive tract symptoms or cough. It is does not adversely affect normal blood pressure.ACE inhibiting peptides are naturally present at low concentrations in certain hard cheeses, and yoghurt. These products have had many years of history of safe use.

A third clinical trial was carried out in Taiwan.
The aim of this study was to investigate the long term effect of C12 Peption ACE in a double blind placebo controlled parallel trial. In each group, 24 subjects were enrolled with pre-hypertensive blood pressure. The study design consisted of a 2 week observation period, a 4 week treatment period with either placebo tablets (BID) or C12 Peption ACE tablets (BID) and a 2 week end period. Blood pressures and pulse rates were measured once a week in the morning. In addition, body weight and clinical examinations such as blood and urine analysis were carried out. This study showed that after four weeks intake of 3.4 gram of C12 Peption ACE daily, DBP and SBP were significantly reduced by 7 and 12mm Hg, respectively (Figure 4 & 5; SEM values 1-3 mm Hg). Interestingly, a significant blood pressure lowering effect was observed already after one week intake. In all clinical trials, no side effects were observed.


It should be noted, however, these studies do appear to be funded by the inventing company.
 
I just ordered some and I think my bp is already improving. :woohoo:

Thanks for getting this. I think it will move well once the feedback starts rolling in and people hear how effective and cheap this stuff is.

On the bottle of the stuff I just got b4 I knew Custom was going to carry some it says (6% Bioactive C12 Peptide) and the dose is 4 capsules a day at 500mg ??? whats da deal on this?

"C12 Peptide is a patented natural milk protein derived hydrolysate. C12 refers to a bioactive 12-amino acid long peptide present in the casein part of milk protein. C12 and its metabolites inhibit angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), which is a key enzyme in regulating the blood pressure."

I think this may answer you question. Is that 500mg total per day, per cap, per dose? If it's 500mg per cap & assuming 4caps a day, that would be 120mg of c12 active which is a little lower (I believe) than Twinlabs stuff.

Nice feedback DD.....Custom....so is your C12 100% active? is that why u only need a couple hundred miligrams of your powder?
 
No, it is the ACE...But all products I have seen on the market either are 100mg, or as you stated, 500mg of something like calcium isolate standarized to contain...."

If you could post the product link, that would be helpful.

The way I see it each capsule, containing 500mg, is 6% C-12. So, each cap has 30mg of c-12 peptide. I believe that the twinlabs product has 50mg of c-12 per cap.

I could be wrong, but that's the way I'm seeing it.

I think I know what you're thinking. If so, the 300g would still have 18g of active which is still a good deal. Just not the killer deal it first seemed. I 'm mainly interested so I'll know how to dose it.

I was wondering why it appeared to be so freaking cheap...

I bought the stuff for $200/kg. So if you really need 1 gram instead of 100mg, that is a huuuggee difference.

As it stands, that Swanson product is priced at $0.33 per gram, which is about as low of markup as you will ever see on a capped product, given they bought this at the same price I did: $0.20/gram.

So, depending on the answer I get from the manufacturer, it may not be all that possible to make it to where it is a better deal than the caps when you account for dislike of bulk powders, etc.

Arg! This one really has me upset.

To the manufacturer:

Comparing products on the market, let’s say one is listed at 30mg of C12 per capsule. Am I correct in assuming there is actually 500mg of product in there since the COA lists the C12content at 6%?

So If I wanted my customers to have 60mg of actual C12 per cap, I would need to pack each cap at 1000mg, correct?

And last question: the study that references two daily doses of 100mg…is that 100mg total, or 100mg C12, which if the above assumption is right, would be about 1.7 total grams.


Their reply:

You are correct on all points made. We do however recommend 3.4 g per day to deliver the 200mgs of C-12, so that will increase the number of tablets per day consumed. We've seen companies use less that this - for instance 500mg capsules, 1000 mg amount per serving (60mg) at 4 capsules per day. Final dose of the actual C-12 Peption would be 120 mgs a day and therefore less than the 200mg. We realize it is a challenge to get that much in a capsule at the current bulk density.

I see the issue now. For some reason I was thinking the unit price was for 300g, but it was 30g.
 
Allright, so Matt can sell it as uncapped powder, put a teaspoon in your shake, it's done... Right?
 
I was checking the site, couldn't fine the product. Has it been taken down until Matt works out the dosing/pricing and what not?
 
Yeah, it's down right now. I think he has to re-evaluate the unit size & price. I think the write-up needs some adjustment too. I got an order in before the confusion so I have some on the way. I think it turns out to be only about 8 daily doses instead of the 150 days originally thought. As you can see, that's a big discrepency that needs to be worked out before getting it back up.

damn, the price comparison on this and the twinlab product is laughable to say the least.... 3g vs 100 g for about the same price:clap2:

Careful Max32. That's what was originally thought, then the confusion occurred.
CNW's is 100g of the C12 Peption ACE, which is 6% bioactive C-12 peptide. So, ~1.7g of the powder is a dose of 100mg of the actual C12 peptide. Twinlabs just list the amount of active on their label, even though I believe they use the ACE compound. So, in effect, the 100g is a 4 week supply at 3.4g/day (200mg active) dose where a bottle of the TL stuff is 15 days at 200mg/day. Still a good deal in my book.
I hope the way I explained this makes sense.

Oh, and just an FYI for you guys ordering this compound:
I don't know if you guys were planning on capping or just spooning the powder direct. I just take the powder and it's fairly nasty. Since it is descibed as,

I was expecting to to be fairly tame, but it makes me cringe. I haven't taken Piracetam in awhile, but that's what came to my mind when I took my first dose. So if you're tasted that, you have an idea what to expect.

Correct. Twin Lab just listing the active as opposed to the total content really is confusing.

Exactly. Great buy in my book because I like the stuff and it works, and I can't stand it when companies like TL put out a product with "30 servings" and then tell you to take 2 or more servings a day. Christ, even if they had to charge more, just give me a full month's run or more in one frigging bottle like DS or USP does. At that point if I want to go above the recommened dose that's my decision and I'll buy more. It's just seems like such a rip, not to mention dumb, when one bottle of a product can't cover a month at the recommended dose.
