Has anyone used Glucophage (metformin) ?

I was prescribed Glucophage for my insulin resistance.

It`s suppose to help lose weight by inhibiting glucose uptake in the small intestine, and also help lose abdominal fat by increasining insulin sensitivity of cells, and thus lowering after-meal insulin levels.

So far I`ve been using it for a month and half, and it did help me lose weight but not the abdominal fat.

Anyway,I wanted to know if anyone is using it and creatine together.

I can`t really go without creatine, altough I do cycle it 3 months on 1 month off.

They are both suppose to be very very rarely potentially hazardous to kidneys.

I wonder if I should stop Glucophage before getting back on creatine?

Is anyone using both of these?

Glucophage and Glucophage XR are oral antihyperglycemic drugs used to treat type 2 diabetes. Family member was prescribed these due to being diabetic. Possible serious side effects of Glucophage include shortness of breath even with mild exertion; swelling or rapid weight gain (also weight loss) fever; chills; body aches; or flu symptoms, blood glucose increase, Less serious side effects include headache or muscle pain, weakness or mild nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, gas, or stomach pain. This is not a complete list of side effects, and others may occur so be observant. And in a bunch of different studies, Glucophage actual raised Blood creatinine levels around 20% for users in the 3-6 month prolonged use category. As far as supplementing with creatine while using this drug, I've read in studies that liver/ kidney problems only occurred with people who had previous liver/kidney issues and was rare in individuals who had healthy functioning organs. Also, the most severe side effect IMO of this drug is lactic acidosis. Next paragraph is straight from wiki:

Lactic acidosis is a physiological condition characterized by low pH in body tissues and blood (acidosis) accompanied by the buildup of lactate, especially D-lactate, and is considered a distinct form of metabolic acidosis.[1] The condition typically occurs when cells receive too little oxygen (hypoxia), for example, during vigorous exercise. In this situation, impaired cellular respiration leads to lower pH levels. Simultaneously, cells are forced to metabolize glucose anaerobically, which leads to lactate formation. Therefore, elevated lactate is indicative of tissue hypoxia, hypoperfusion, and possible damage. Lactic acidosis is characterized by lactate levels >5 mmol/L and serum pH <7.35.[2]

As to taking creatine while on this drug, appears to be ok if you have no previous health issues with internal organs and such. To be safe, could run low dose cycle support during your 3 months on with creatine. Your call. Or even get blood work to check values during/ after taking them alongside each other.

I have taken both, no problems.
