Who is taking a hair loss product and how is it working? Considering trying a finasteride and minoxidil topical product, so doing my research to see if there’s anything that might be worth it. Let me know if I should save my money.

My hairline has really started thinning a lot more recently, and over the past 12 months I’ve developed a very thin crown.

I’ve always thought I would be able to handle shaving my head bald but now that it’s getting closer to reality, I’m thinking man, maybe I’m really not ready to do that quite yet. So, I’m willing to spend a little money to see if I can thicken it back up for awhile. Seems a little vain, but here I am 🤷‍♂️

Use finasteride for over 20 years and saved my hair.
Same. You’ll find a lot of horror stories out there about finasteride and I can only say this as a user myself but I’ve been using it for 15 years and still have a full head of hair and have never experienced any of the side effects that you’ll see as anecdotal reports. I’ve also frequently checked in with my doctor and others and taken blood tests to ensure that nothing else was out of place. For some reason I get flamed when I share my experience but again im sharing my individual experience here.

I started to thin in my early 30's and now I'm very thin (36). It really does impact your mood!

I started to implement a hair loss protocol. I did start with minoxidil and it was working great but... I got hellish side effects. I got fatigue so bad that I could barely function. I had to stop minoxidil due to this (Was devastated as it worked fantastic). It also ages your face like crazy. Mines did anyway and a lot of people say they get this also. Who wants great hair but a haggard face? No thanks lol.

I also added in Ketoconazole shampoo. This has helped a little. I rotate the Ketoconazole with a caffeine shampoo also. Caffeine has research in hair growth. I do this each evening.

I have finasteride at home but I'm genuinely to worried to start it. I have watched too many of the post finasteride syndrome videos and have become too paranoid. I know finasteride works great as well but for now I'm too scared.

I have swapped finasteride for RU58841. This is a topical product that blocks all androgens in the scalp. It's a research chemical. I was also very worried about this also but I gave it a go and so far have had zero side effects. I've been on it 2 months and it has 100% started some new growth. It's still very minimal but I know it's working. I would be happy to maintain my hair only. If I get some growth then even better.

You can also microneedle your scalp which seems to get good reviews. This stimulates growth factors in the scalp.

I would start with minoxidil (See how you feel on it). It's actually a great product but caused hellish side effects in me. Though.. Most people tolerate it fine. Also add in Nizarol (Ketoconazole) and some caffeine shampoo. These are both very cheap.

You any photos to see what stage your at? If you look up Kyle Gillett on YouTube. He has great advice for hair loss

My advice is to bite the bullet of baldness. It's coming sooner or later escpecially if it runs in your family. I've been bald since I was 24 . Saved a lot of money on haircuts and hairloss products that's for sure!

If you experienced facial aging due to minoxidil applied to your scalp then you are an outlier. I have never seen any studies or scientific literature which reports facial aging as a side effect. However, I have read where folks who apply minoxidil to the face to induce the growth of facial hair may experience a haggard looking face.

I have been using a topical finasteride & minoxidil all in one formula from Him's for a few months now, it's done wonders for my crown area which was thinning out a lot. you can't even notice the scalp anymore on the crown and its a lot fuller now. Best thing I've done and no side effect's at all.

Sorry I had to ReEdit just saw bellend1986 comment about minoxidil aging the face. well I've been using minoxidil for years I must have a face of a turtle. You got any paperwork to back up your claims brah! I didn't really see much difference with minoxidil alone since I changed brands and went with combination of minoxidil and finasteride in a spray my hair is a lot fuller.

been shaving it for 5 years and its the best decision I ever made. Now I am not trying to be one of those "just have it bro" guys but just offering up an experience that if you ever thought about were hesitant to give old Mr Gillette a call, you may actually love it. I mulled it over for like 5 fuckin' years lol

It really depends on the extent of your hair loss at the time you are considering using minoxidil and/or finasteride. Folks whose hair loss is pretty significant should indeed just do what you did. These aren’t miracle drugs that will grow back significant areas of baldness. However, they are effective in SLOWING the rate of hair loss going forward.

I’m running minoxidil and finasteride. Been on since December. Both are oral. For some reason doctors won’t prescribe both in oral form. However, any topical (liquid, foam, etc) irritated my scalp even without alcohol. So I buy them from separate providers. I still have yet to hear a logical reason as to why they won’t prescribe both to be taken together orally.

i can’t attribute any sides to one product or another because I’m running GH and anabolic XT. As for my hair, significant difference in terms of volume and coverage.

Think I’m going to give the hims product a try. If I don’t see any results in 6 months, then screw it. Just hope it doesn’t give me an irritated scalp.

we don't have any in my family on either side, but at age 40 I've been shedding more lately on epi so I've been curious if I should be counteracting the shedding proactively as well... I mean I hardly even have any greys yet so the only two times I've noticed shedding in the shower is during a period of extreme stress in 2019, and again lately with the epiandrosterone.

How long you been using it? I just started a few weeks ago so obviously no improvements yet. If I don’t notice any improvements with loss or growth after 6 months or so I’ll probably just not worry with it anymore. I still have enough hair to maintain for a while longer and I’m already 52. But my crown and hair line has definitely started thinning more over the past year. Figured it’s worth a shot.

I took it for a year, noticed nothing. I stopped, maybe should of waited longer.

I take topical finasteride now, but I think overall that's not enough as I only use it on my hairline.

I think you need a combo these days
Finasteride
Rogaine
RU
Derma Rolling

If you can use those, I think I've seen solid results overall.

My take on recent trends the last few years based on my overconsumption of message boards, discords, personal experience etc.

- There has been a major resurgence in legitimate drug development for hair loss. After decades, companies are spending money again. It might be worthwhile to stay on a minimally effective treatment even if it is not producing significant cosmetic results. Reason being, if you are able to keep your follicles from going completely dormant, future treatments may be far more effective for you.

- Oral minoxidil has rapidly ascended from being heretical to a core treatment. Its probably number 2 now behind fin/dut among top tier docs. Very easy to get a script and is dirt cheap. If topical minox hasn't worked for you, you can get the minox test done for $139 to see if you lack the enzyme. If you indeed lack or underproduce it, you might be surprised by the effect of oral. It is legit.

- Microneedling works by itself and is cheap. It seems to turbocharge topical minox, though this may actually be by increased systemic exposure, giving you a de facto oral minox experience.

- Consider hardcore scalp massages if you have developed scalp tension. If you were a minox of fin/dut responder and then 10-20 years later you suddenly start losing ground, this might help you turn the tide. For many years I thought this was lame and dinosaur.

- RU has fallen out of flavor. It is thought that for most it works really well initially, but longer term the AR sensitizes.

I have noticed now the push of Oral Min.
My issue is, does it interact with other drugs?

I got friends who take topical, but take Viagra as they're 50+.

Both lower blood pressure.

Personally for me, I haven't seen anything from topical? Definitely no growth. I have to add Derma Rolling 100%> I was going to add RU too.

I am considering taking the test for Topical Min, it would save me the BS of applying it with no result. I felt like it's made it worse for me.

I am using topical Finasteride.

I had sides with oral.

Gaines 4kgs in 2 weeks, I assume my E climbed? My strength went up too.
Watery Semen
My Libido was all over the place, it improved after 6 months.

I came during sex alot quicker, normally I can go an hour non-issue.

Mentally I felt clearer.

After a year, I stopped due to seeing no benefits. I still was losing hair in the shower.

I am considering trying again, and keep Topical Min or consider switching to Oral.

I'm only thinning at the front, so not sure these meds can regrow. I may be better just with a HT, and then basic meds to keep what I have.

Such a pain LOL.

What are the best legitimate sources to obtain a prescription for oral minoxidil? Most regular docs might be reluctant to prescribe since it’s considered “off label” for hair loss.

I'm interested in following the thread along just to see people's experiences.

I have been researching this subject a lot. We have a hair supplement lined up for later this year, but also interested in the subject overall so I've been looking at a lot of different options, including some outside the box, not so common ones.

So probably won't post in this thread much, but following along out of curiosity.

I don't really follow this guy much anymore but I don't believe anyone has compiled more information on hair loss prevention and regrowth of hair then this guy. And his regrowth of hair over the years is more then anyone or anything I've ever seen without a hair transplant.

If all else fails, shave it bald and get jacked and tan lol

Regenepure DR(ketocanazole) shampoo is decent to minimize or slow down hair loss.
grape seed extract makes me need to get a haircut every 2 weeks.

RU-58841 is a much better choice than Rogaine.
And of course finasteride/Propecia if you don't care about the side effects

Just a quick update. Been using the hims product (topical min/fin) for close to 2 months now. Been using it religiously and also started derma rolling a few weeks ago.

Up until the past week or so, my hairline had gotten thinner since starting this therapy (hair on crown seemed to stay about the same). I did read where this is fairly normal. However over the past 10 days or so I’m pretty sure I’m seeing improvement. Hard to say if it’s just my hair getting thicker or actual new growth. All I know is that visibly I don’t see my scalp showing through as much. It’s also become a little more difficult to separate my hair as I’m applying the product to get a good spray directly on the scalp. As I’m spraying, more of the product is getting on hair than scalp now, and of course I just massage it in as usual.

I know this is a bit anecdotal, and I’m still wondering a little bit if this is just wishful thinking, especially just two months in. But I see what I see and it looks like it’s starting to work.

I’m going to continue on with what I’m doing for now and will report back with hopefully more progress.

Used topical Minoxidil/Fin products a year and some ago. Seemed to halt my hair loss but didn't see much by way of new hair growth. Also used the hairmax laserband. Results were so,so.

For the past 9 months I've been uaing a mixture of biotin, 5 to 10mg MSM, ketocanazole and caffeine shampoo. My thinning patches have filled out nicely No more reflection under the light Lol! Hair is much more dense. Really pleased with the results. Also add in collagen periodically.

I can attest to the efficacy of biotin at least in terms of stopping hair loss. I'm sensitive to hair loss sides from even mild androgens like herbal test boosters. 10mg of oral biotin daily and this is no longer an issue. I doubt that I could take anything harsher and expect biotin alone to do the trick but at least that's something.

The studies are on both are sparse but there's interesting posotive anecdotal reports on MSM in hair loss forums. The study on this used 3000mg with vitamin C. One or more of the 4 products I'm using is certainly effective for me. If pressed I suspect its the MSM but this is only a hunch as haven't used MSM by itself
