Hair Loss Prevention

After trying everything, it appears the three best things one can use are:

Revita shampoo
Monoxidil Foam 5%
Spiro 5% cream

Laser comb may be effective

Instead of using Finasteride, it has been shown in mutiple studies that certain doses of saw palmetto are equally effective at blocking DHT at scalp and perhaps not as horrible for libido.

well for saw palmetto to be effective or speculated to be effective you have to use alot, and its speculated to do the same thing as propecia lower dht which will in effect have the same side effect as using propecia since you would be doing the same thing....libido or hair....tough call

that's why I prefer topical treatments only.

The new spiro, the 5% lotion (well, it may be that im late, and it's not so new), im going to run that for 6 months along with the regrowth shampoo, plus the xandrox (for convenience) reasons.

The lotion does not smell bad, so I've heard.

Im just beginning to thin, just a tad and I want to catch it before it really starts to show.

Can't speak to how well it works on hair, buy I've been taking Saw Palmetto for about four years ED and never had a issue with libido.

I sometimes think we look for this, or lethargy, etc so much some times as sides, that we see it whether it is there or not.

anybody have any insight on eucapil?
piece of cake to use, expensive (although less so if you have very short hair - one vial can last 3 days)

as for efficacy...i can say this - using it whilst on 500mg of test did not stave off itchiness. it reduced it IMO, but there was still the almost daily itch that for me means my follicles are being attacked (my head never itches when i'm not juicing, and it doesnt itch when i'm on low-dose low-androgenic steroids either)

i tried to brew my own eucapil-esque tonic shortly thereafter, using a thin oil (which is the base for eucapil), no alcohol and spiro cream. didnt really work that well, though, although i wouldnt discourage someone else from trying it...

my test-cycle hair protocol currently only includes Revita shampoo, saw palmetto topical as needed, and topical hydrocortisone for those itchy spells from time to time...that's it. i'd use spiro cream if it wasnt so horrible to deal with and wasnt based in alcohol, but this is apparently a tall order.

i havent lost significant hair since 2004 (when i realized it was going) and i've probably run a dozen cycles of varying lengths and strengths. for me, it's mostly about choosing the right androgens, trying different treatments, and monitoring your scalp very closely.

Try emu oil for that itch, its an excellent anti-inflammatory. I believe that's what the itch is from, an auto-immune response to androgen activity in the scalp.

I use emu oil daily, my scalp hasnt itched since - my MPB seems pretty stable as well.

Finasteride dosing question

I'm just getting into this hair loss stuff (think I should have started earlier). Anyway, I just picked up two bottle of Finasteride 5mg/ml 30ml vial for IR. Can someone let me know how to take it (under tongue, subcatanious, etc), how much/dose and how many times/week?

Also, it is my understanding that Monoxidil only works in the rear portion of the scalp. Is this true?

Thanks...

i'm not sure if my products are working, actually I think I might even notice more thinning...

I've been using for about 4 weeks now, the 1st two weeks I was still on CYCLE (low dose m-drol) don't think I suffered much hair loss while on cycle.

for the last month i've been using:
Nizoral 2% EOD
Min.d 5% and AA 5% (applied twice daily. morning and evening)

I was under the impression AA 5% would stop any/most androgen induced hair loss, specifically during the cycle. correct?

Also, is Nizoral pointless to use now, considering I'm off cycle?

no one seems to have answered....If I was thinking of using some over the counter pro-hormones, and wanted to plan for the worst....what about the temporary use of rogaine or finasteride.....it looks like people are saying you have to use rogaine forever, but could you use the finasteride to prevent loss or if you noticed a little, take it to gain what was lost back, then stop using it?

NEJM study showing frequency of side effects on 5mg of finasteride a day (see table 4), results looked high until you compare the placebo group, then it was only slightly higher

from my understanding the temporary use of Azelic Acid 2% might be your best bet to use while ON CYCLE and shortly after, maybe add some Nizoral 2% shampoo in the mix as well (even tho i'm convinced nizoral doesn't do a thing, everyone still seems to recommend it, maybe go with Revita shampoo instead)

i was under the impression, there was nothing to help with male pattern baldness. regardless of these crazy magic shampoo's.

It has been awhile. Good to see this thread is still going strong.

I haven't run an AS cycle in over nine months. I am going to give minoxidil a shot solo for a long enough cycle to see its effects.

I am running it more out of curiosity now than anything else. But I should be able to provide better feedback now that my supplement regimen has been reduced significantly to a multi and fish oil.

Hair Loss Prevention

Oddly enough, the guy using the Laser Comb had some of the best results! After seeing that, I set off on some research and found that several people were actually building their own 'Laser Brushes' and reported similar results. After reading through a bunch of threads, I came to the conclusion I could build a LLLT unit myself and I did, for $50. With 6 650nm 5mw Laser Diodes mounted in a nice boar's bristle brush, Ive been using it for the recommend 10minutes 2x per week and honestly, my hair has never looked better.

Can you please tell me how you made that brush? What you used/where you got it and how you made it? It would be so helpful.

i was on another site the other day and it said laser comb's don't work but the science is correct...supposedly. also to my other comment, i don't really have any knowledge on this subject and after reading, my opinion is that yeh these shampoo's may work on cycle but when off it and once you have stopped using the shampoo's everything is reversed. Plus i dont like the idea of using that minoxidil as i read it may make your hair fall out when using it. personally that doesnt sound like a good thing to me.

With most hairloss products, they warn you can have some shedding upon initial use. This reverses itself and in my case, I have never actually experienced it.

It's not difficult bro.

Get some 650nm/5mw/3VDC laser diodes off Ebay, Aixiz Lasers sells them cheap.

http://shop.*********/merchant/aixiz_lasers_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ

They should be around $5.00 apiece:

http://cgi.*********/650nm-5mW-lase...39:1|66:2|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14

Get a brush, drill some holes in it and pressure fit the laser diodes. Wire everything in parallel to any AC adapter that outputs 3 volts DC.

Parallel means all positive leads (red wires) get wired to the positive lead from the transformer, all negative (black wires) get wired to the negative lead from the transformer.

That's pretty much it - the 650nm/5mw diodes are the key - Ive always wanted to make a 'laser hat' that I could just put on for a few minutes every day...maybe next year :)

Infra red light has some pretty amazing effects on all growth sensitive tissues.

A 10-year update

Well guys, I had hoped I hadn't had to post this, but it doth appear that my luck has run out. I've been on finasteride and minoxidil for about 10 years now. I had an initial 2-3 days where I lost my erection in that first week I started, and after that I think I've been relatively symptom free aside from keeping a full head of hair.

Well, I've met a little lady who I think is the girl of my dreams, and since we've been having sex, I've found that I'll lose my erection after about 20-minutes with her. This never happened before, and it seems during the past year that I've seen both a mild decrease in testicular size and a decrease in the hardness of my erections.

So I'm debating dropping the finasteride at this point, which is kind of a hard decision to make, as I've got a full head of hair some 10-years later.

I've added Nizoral and a Piroctone Olamine shampoo over the past two-years or so, additionally.

Debating on trying topical spiro or Eucapil. I really like the idea of the latter, as it seems I've seen good results, but it's really expensive.

By the way, anyone out there get their serum DHT levels read? I've read there's a saliva test, but it seems to cost $100 to have it done.

Im currently on a test prop cycle and my hair has been shedding a lot in the front of my head. I do have soem proscar i just received today but i was told by an MD that it is like rogain in which its a long term commitment and if you stop use all the hair you grew back will fall out. I was wondering if i were to use it only on cycles when using test, just as a DHT blocker, if that would be alright for just simply preventing hair loss or will it just be a waste of time? And if I use it on cycle and stop the use of it will I lose more hair than I previousely had to begin with?

I think you would have more luck running propecia while on cycle, the short time you are on it will not grow any hair back but it will keep it from falling out, or at least should keep it from falling out.

I am considering running a cycle of epistane and am worried about hair loss...i'm losing it anyway, but don't want to accelerate. TOCO-8 was suggested..any opinions on this?

Thanks!

If you really believe vitamin E will preserve your hair on an androgen cycle, there are other products more potent than Toco-8 that cost less per serving.

^it was suggested to me by another forum member. If it won't do the trick...what CAN i use to prevent accelerated hair loss during my cycle??

Thanks,

Jesse

Finasteride, Minoxidil, Azelaic Acid, Emu Oil

The Virile Mane stuff looks like it could help - I use an herbal shampoo with many of the same ingredients and I'd swear my hair looks better after a few months of using it.

Does anyone else notice increased shedding when they have increased their minoxidil dosage. I originally started using minoxidil 5% in the morning and Xandrox 12.5% before bed. I did this for 7 months with some initial shedding for a couple of months and then started to get some good re-growth. Unfortunately I didn't get any re-growth in the temple region.

A few weeks back being unsatifisfied I decided to turn things up a bit and am now on minoxidil 12.5% in the morning and Xandrox 15% before bed. I have also started using 2% Nizoral every second day. In the last 3 weeks my hair is severely shedding and especially in the temporal region where I am trying to get the re-growth kick started. I am just trying to stay calm and convince myself that it is just starting a new growth phase but am unsure. Anyone else have this experience?

i get better hair gains when i use minox 5 percent once a day. if i use it more it irritates my scalp making it itchy which will make you lose hair too. i also use good anti dandruff/itch shampoo's nizoral and t gel by neutragena. another good thing about those shampoo's is they help block dht.

hey guys newbie here and i have a question..im not sure if its been covered or not i would have to look at alot of pages haha..Well i am going to start Eq and this is the first time using the product or any others for that matter. i will be using a half for now and 1 at the most..i am very hesitant about doing this because of the hair loss i am 21 and already seeing some thinning along with some recession in the temples..i am currently taking finasteride and have been for 2 months now and i have also been using minoxidil for over 8 months now..i am just wondering if i will be ok using the EQ and not have any more hair loss

Can finasteride in liquid form be added to minoxidil solution without compromising stability of drug? If so, how much would you want to take per topical dose? Thanks in advance.
