Gut Health & post appendix recovery

I'm 1 week post op from getting my appendix taken out. Finally back on regular foods. A man can only handle so much yogurt before going insane.

Today is actually day 2 of gut health, I'll follow the 2 caps/day for the first 5 days then a 1 cap/day for remainder.

This log will be a little graphic, but if you're looking for a good probiotic, you kind o have to be.

-Background/Lead up
Nothing really moving around until 3 days post op. it was pretty uncomfortable bc I had to but couldn't. The next few days was diarrhea and the stomach bloating was still there.

Some things going on right now, not sure if its just per usual post surgery or Gut Health but things are solid and flowing smooth and easy. No rancid farts, but my poop smells awful, like over the top courtesy flush doesn't help. It's like that stuffs been in me for weeks and is just coming out.

Stomach bloating has finally started to go down and well as awkward stomach feeling after food.

I'm in. Hope this helps you out bud.

In!

I'm really looking forward to your log, DW. And, I'm especially glad you are on the up and up. We need you healthy!

In. Best of luck on the recovery to a terrific poster.

Thanks for the support everyone!

Little update. Diets been clean, keeping carbs a little lower. Mostly just gluten free cereal & bread with oatmeal and sweet potatoes. Some fruit as well. Totals are probably around 150.

Not to anal about macros just yet, just more concerned I'm eating and it's clean bc appetite is still a bit sluggish.

Things have been moving nicely & bloating is down. I ate a quest bar today and for the first time, I wasn't bloated after.

How do you feel about gluten overall? I don't think that I really buy into that stuff about "Wheat Belly", but I don't have all of the research so really I guess I am just guessing. :)

Didn't even see this, but I am in :). Glad things are getting better for you after that surgery DW.

I can attest to it and love gluten free. Serious I took my 4 year old off gluten as well and what a difference. Gluten causes inflammation. I don't get bloated eating refeeds that are gluten free, my kids energy is up his nose never runs anymore etc etc etc. this is just my experience bro just trying to help

If you're of the estimated 15-20% who don't have an issue then yes, it's over blown.

If you do have slight gluten intolerance then like bean said, you can feel a difference. I've heard it takes a while to completely rid yourself of the "gluten" I know I can eat a lot more gluten free carbs then gluten filled. I don't get uncomfortable or bloated.

Subbed to see results!

Back down to 1 cap a day. Bloat is slowly dissipating each day and things are moving along nicely despite lower carbs (almost no greens ATM)

Appetite is strong today. I'm not sure if it bc I did 45min fasted LISS cardio this morning or I'm finally back to normal?!?!?

It is a nice feeling when the gut gives up and starts to play nice.

Tru that!

No protein farts! Pretty excited bc i've jumped my protein intake 3 fold this week. No carbs but everything is moving nicely, much more frequent than I normally am without carbs.

Recovery from surgery is going well also. I'm back in the gym but not close to 100%, gonna leave the training wheels on for another 10days or so.

I've had some diarrhea the past few days. Not really sure as to why

I'm more regular with using gut health on my keto diet than I ever have before, it's pretty convenient. I've been eating a respectable amount of cheese to boot. Still NO FARTS!!!!!!

Mmmmm....cheese. You look like a brie man if I ever saw one.

Comment related to your post from earlier....When I first started the Gut Health, I was eating 1-2 quest bars per day. I did experience a lot of loose movements. Dropping my quest bars out, or limiting them to 1 a day or every 2 days cleared it right up.

I recently added them back in and I'm not getting the same looseness at all. Trying to figure it out.

Thanks Matt. I'll cool it for a few days with them and see how it goes. Guess I'll have to go the old school route for fiber....spinach and broccoli :-p

Love me some Quest bars, but that is a LOT of fiber. I can always tell when I'm "on" them :)

So since the runs/quest bar chaos I've actually stopped eating fiber. I'd venture I get less than 10gr a day and have been eating a healthy amount of cheese, up to 1 cup/day......

I'm still pooping normal and no real abdominal bloating. Waist is down about 1/2" over the past 2 weeks or so.

I'm always weary of adding too much cheese bc I don't wanna get backed up but I dare push the limits?

Depends...what kind of cheese?

Day after carb up sh!ts have been very mild. Just a few in the morning and I' m fine.

Also noticed I don't fart as much on carb ups (they still smell like death).

Overall, the "side affects" from carb ups have been very mild. More like sh!t loads actually. Starting clean and ending dirty.

Had 2 quest bars & runs came back. At least I know what it is so I'm cool with it.

Things still moving along nicely. No bloating or GI distress, highly advise to grab while dieting

Mostly bc I have horrible GI issues on/day after carb ups. They have been minimal to say the least

I'm ecstatic of the success our loggers are experiencing with Gut Health. It's definitely nice to see these types of reactions.
