Glen's training log (better than beelze's)

4/23

well today was a miserable workout .. my allergies are just out of control right now and i felt really wiped out .. probably shouldn't have lifted but whatever

bis
DB preacher curls (reverse side)
50 - 10
60 - 6
60 -5

quads
squats (below parallel)
325 - 10
385 - 7 (spotted on last rep)

lying leg curls (weird plate loaded machine .. pretty much clinically dead at this point)
2 plates - 10
2 plates + 25 - 10
2 plates + 50 - 8

calves .. screw them i felt like a dog's ass

so as you can see it was a pretty sh*tty workout although i was pretty happy with my squat today

over and done with for the day

Hey man, I weigh the same amount as you and would give anything to put up those numbers you did today. For my accumulation week I am following nearly the same DC setup as you, with a few minor differences

Hey glen, have you been taking any methyl b12 for those allergies? Im not sure, but i thought that I read that Bio (mod) said that his allergies have been non-existent since starting his methyl b12. Just thought i would mention it, especially since IBE has their sale going on.

thanks for the kind words ktw i appreciate it

idunk - i've been taking 1000mcg of injectable b12 eod for a few days now .. i picked up some claritan .. man that's a wonder drug! .. i feel so much better though definitely not even close to 100%

4/27

sh*tty workout today .. i've got a sinus infection .. more on this in a minute

chest
BB bench press
245 - 10
265 - 7
285 - 4

back thickness
T-bar rows
3 plates - 10
4 plates - 8
5 plates - 5

back width
reverse grip close grip pulldowns
210 - 10
220 - 8
230 - 7 PR

tris
incline skulls
115 - elbow went kaputt ... felt an incredibly sharp burning sting in my left elbow basically just dropped the bar to ivydude

that's it .. i'm officially done with skullcrushers .. screw them ... my elbow feels fine now and i don't really think i did any damage but it certainly hurt a ton and scared me for a few minutes

given that i nearly killed my elbow and i've got a sinus infection along with the fact that i feel i'm getting close to being overtrained i'm probably going to skip my workout friday ... i was already planning on taking next week off as my finals start then and i literally won't have time to lift .. the week after that i'll be in puerto rico so i can't lift then

so this log will be on a 2.5 week hiatus .. i haven't had a week off in a LONG time as i jumped straight into this training from WSB and i think the time off will do me really well (except that when i start back up i'll be "off" .. so that will likely be slightly disappointing)

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate events that took place bro. Hope you get better man and good luck on those finals  and we'll eagerly be awaiting your return. :)

hey glen, quick question, I cant find any info on eating carbs b4 bed, do you recommend it (of course them being low GI)? It would be with in my caloric requirements, i was just curious if i should work carbs into my first 5 meals and forgo them in the sixth, what do you think? Sorry to ask such a newb question in an advanced forum, but you def know what your doing so this is why i ask. Thx.

thanks poobs

Hbs .. i think it depends a lot on your metabolism .. i personally don't do it even when bulking .. i just have protein and healthy fats before bed

if you are having trouble gaining weight it would probably help out .. to be honest i'm really not much of a diet guru .. i know how to eat for my body and i know how to put on muscle without a lot of fat and how to diet, but for me specifically .. you'll probably get a better answer posting this in a new thread in one of the diet forums .. sorry i can't be of more help

No you helped, game me your opinion. Gaining weight isnt too much of a problem for me, so i probly should refrain from the b4 bed carbs. Thx.

If this is the case [gaining weight comes easy], the rule of thumb is to avoid starchy carbs in the PM. In other words, all meals after lunch should consist of protein/fat/veggies. You could skip the veggies in your last meal.

everyone is different in terms of their response to carbs .. plenty of people eat carbs right up until bed and stay very lean

i REALLY enjoyed the first week off .. i feel a million times better and didn't even realize at the time how sh*tty i was feeling .. would LOVE to get back into the gym this week but i'm leaving tomorrow for Puerto Rico so i'm just gonna wait until next monday to get back it .. while on PCT though :(

well i'll be trying out activate for the first time during this PCT so we'll see how that goes .. i'm really not very concerned .. i have faith i won't lose too much in terms of size

alright first day back in 2.5 weeks .. i just got home from puerto rico last night and i'm not gonna lie i ate three meals of horribly unclean food a day to go along with my many margaritas .. and it was awesome

back into the swing of things now (and completely off everything)

315 - 10
365 - 6

calves
seated calf raises
3 plates - 12, 12, 12

my squats p*ssed me off .. i should have done better .. i didn't feel like my muscles gave out per se as much as i felt really fatigued (if that makes sense) i think between doing WSB for so long and then having 2.5 weeks off my endurance still has a ways to go regarding exercises like squats and deads

oh well .. still getting back into the swing of things

strong work either way brutha. gotta figure you're still recovering as well and you know that's going to take it's toll for a few more weeks, especially on squats considering how taxing they are.

Glen,

Did you ever have a problem with bicep recovery? I mean in a week where you start with day B, bi's are hit twice directly and once indirectly in 5 days.

spatch,
relatively speaking bis are my best body part ... i personally don't have any trouble with them recovering

How are you liking the activate on PCT?

I'm trying your program now. I think I might switch bi's to day A and make it a upper/lower split

Don't fix it if it ain't broke...

or at least try it for 6-8 weeks before you switch it up. I believe it was setup this way for a reason.

i agree with jonesy .. i say give it a shot and see how it works out .. you might be pleasantly surprised

well i just received the activate yesterday so i took 4 caps yesterday and have taken 2 so far today ... my workout today was great .. so who knows :)

Cool, well I'll just be patient and watch for feedback. ;-)

tris

95 - 10
105 - 8

i felt great all workout long .. is it possible the activate is already unbinding whatever little amount of test my body is producing right now already? i have no idea

i noticed my delts are started to lag a bit behind my arms so i'm going to start actually working them again lol

PR's in post cycle therapy... :woohoo:

Speaking of lagging shoulders... since I have been on the routine I havn't really hit rear delts to bring them up. You ever toss in 2 sets of bent over laterals? Focus on rowing more to your upper stomach/chest when doing bent overs?

What's your weight at btw?

personally i feel between rack deads, deads, and bb rows i hit my rear delts enough ... they've never been a weakness for me

don't know my weight but i took my measurements this morning and all measurements are the same except waist .. which somehow and i have no idea how went down half an inch

btw what happened to my signature??

Edit: DOH! Beat me to it jonser!

wow jonesy you really bulked up .. you look great man .. i think your rear delts are fine honestly .. with a lower BF you'd notice them a lot more .. like i said before i really think with rack deads, deads, and BB rows you hit them enough JMHO

I'm not sure but I think only Gold members have sigs now Glen.

5/22

started a new job today and didn't know what to expect in terms of being able to eat so i didn't bring any food and only got to eat lunch .. this will thankfully change starting tomorrow

bis
preacher curls
105 - 10
115 - 6
115 - 4

quads
weird hack squat machine i mentioned in here before
720 - 10
810 - 10 (honestly not as impressive as it sounds, trust me)

hams
SLDL (just did these wed but i couldn't do GHR's at the gym i was at today and the leg curls machines were constantly occupied)
225 - 10
315 - 10
365 - 7

calves
seated calf raises
3 plates - 10, 10, 12 (btw i don't know if i mentioned but each rep of these takes me about 20 seconds between ECC and CON)

felt good today despite not really having gotten many cals in ...onward

you take everything to complete failure, right? I dont mean COMPLETE failure like drop sets I mean untill you fail at an attempted rep?

well i usually don't actually fail on the rep .. i stop after the last rep i know i can possibly do .. its fairly obvious (well at least for me it is) when i've done my last complete rep .. with that said occasionally i'll try to force out another one, usually resulting in me just dropping the weight

but anyway, yes i consider that going to failure

Hey Glen, remember in Peurto Rico, you were eating those fried bananas, and a bird **** on you? That was me. Just thought I'd let you know.

Sincerely,
Ubi
