Football Players and Fake Weights

Is anyone else as annoyed as I am with football players and their fake weight reporting? The big talk right now is how Tebow is packing on pounds and supposedly reported to training camp at 249. There is no chance in hell he actually weighs that! Here's a pic of him supposedly at that weight:

Granted he's a couple inches taller than me, but I have a very hard time believing that he would look much bigger than me if I was standing next to him. I'd put him at around 220, maybe.

If you have any doubts, just think of it this way. Arnold at his biggest competed at about 240. This was him at that weight at the 1974 Mr. Olympia:

I'm not sure how any sane person could believe that Tebow is anywhere near that, even with his extra body fat and extra two inches or so...
 
in highschool ball,i notice they normally add 4-6lbs to the weight
 
they do it for height too....out of college a kid is 6 ft 4....3 months later he's 6'6...i mean they are young and can grow...but i don't necessarily think it's the players doing this...its the idiots telling the media this info.....just google someone, espn will have one height and weight, wikipedia will have another, nfl will have a third....they never match
 
Wouldn't muscle density come into play? I mean, there's guys I've seen who look bigger than me (at least to me they do), but when I've asked what they weigh, they're like 5-6 lbs lighter. I think looks can be really deceiving, but yeah, I've heard there's a lot of variation in what they report on football players.

^this. I have a couple friends who fit this description. The muscle of the athlete takes on a different appearance, most likely from both genetic expression and type of training throughout there life.

1 friend is 5'10 and 250 and another is 6' and 265. Neither look that big by bodybuilding standards. Thick bone structure, waist/hip/shoulder ratio is close etc. they are both very strong and athletic though.

In bodybuilding, it is the illusion of wide shoulder/lats to waist, small joint structure with full muscle bellies with muscle/tendon insertions that cover their frame.

There is a lot more to muscular appearance than height/weight/bf%
 
Tebow - 6'3" and 240lbs for a reasonably muscular guy with average body fat (12-14%) is no big deal. He is an athlete after all. I have several friends in this shape.

Arnold - 6'2" and 240lbs at 4-5% bodyfat

If Tebow is 12-14% bodyfat that equates to nearly 20lbs or more body weight in fat.

I don't spend my nights dwelling about this, but as someone who works out a lot I'm well aware of what weight equates to what appearance. I think it's ridiculous how much they lie in football, that's all.

As for my father, he's a great guy.
 
It reminds me of back in the day when they would list Allen Iverson as 6-1' or 6-2', when he was lucky to be 5-9' or more like 5-8' on a good day.
 
My thighs and calves are big as **** compared to most people, and my core is alot wider, so people always guess under my weight.. but yeah I know what you mean

That's a good point though. I am probably missing about 20 lbs that I should have in leg weight, ha. Also, ol Tebow up there appears to naturally have a very wide waist. Even though I'm 6'1", my waist gets down to 30" or so if my bf is low.
