Florida School Shooting At Least 17 Dead

Sad....

Invalid Link Removed

At least 17 people were killed Wednesday in a high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said.

Super sad. I have a cousin who goes to school there that we keep in touch with frequently. Can't imagine what it was like.

Our school went through an active shooter drill and it was super intense. Had cops taking it serious, blanks, actors, shut down the whole town and had a lot of people wondering what in the world was going on. We learned a lot from it and pray it never happens cause no matter how prepared you think you are, you never will be.

My cousins live a few blocks from that school in Broward county, and my parents are going down there for the entire month of March.
That scares the living crap out of me.

You guys in the States need to ban the f**k outta guns or bring in more stringent gun control measures. This was a tragedy waiting to happen ☹️☹️☹️

Banning guns doesn't help. This was a gun free zone. You think bad guys see a no gun sign and just decide not to shoot people?

People will always find ways to kill if that's what they truly want to do. I do not believe it's a gun problem.

I meant if guns weren't readily available then the likelihood of gun violence is lessened and that is a fact. I once heard an American commentator say that Americans need to defend themselves, but whom are you defending yourselves from with all these guns ?
I'm not being flippant but I am trying to get my head around why there is around 300 million guns on the streets of America ??

Define readily available.

Violent crime is down in the USA and has been for a number of years, even decades. It is these mass shootings that are on the rise. Mentally ill people are more likely to act out their fantasies than in previous years. Why? Multi-layered response and firearm ownership is only the incidental aspect.

You said it, 300 million guns and yet these shootings are outliers in terms of use of firearms per gun owners.

If we break down the logic of those who want to abridge the Right to own firearms to its logic inputs because a very limited number of people commit crimes with them then the same can be said to restrict/limit our other Rights which are also poorly used by small elements of Society.

The gun free zones and new laws restricting type of arms are of limited benefit as mostly law abiding are affected. Those who wish to commit crimes will find an end around. So we are left in the situation of penalizing law abiding people for the acts of criminals which are a very very small number of firearm owners.

It is more accurate to state it is a mental health issue and not a firearm related issue.

In the USA, the Press and other elements really rush to judgement because the real reasons are complex and far beyond the simplistic knee jerk reaction of ban guns, restrict guns, etc.etc. which are ideal talking points, affect mostly those of a particular political bent who are also their political adversaries, etc.

Another common element mass shooting perpetrators have with criminals focusing on theft-they strike at those who cannot defend themselves. None have attacked where their targets are likely to be able to defend themselves and when confronted with armed resistance either meekly surrender or commit suicide. Yes, there are exceptions of course.

Because of the Constitution that created one of the greatest democratic republic government that led to most of the greatest innovation in history.

Turns out he's an antifa sympathizer and was a known threat to the school from last year.

That's already turned out to be a hoax. In fact the only possible account of him online mentioning antifa has him saying "**** antifa." Poor attempt at trying to turn this political ****tard.

Soros must love how divided we are. The crying liberals and the extreme right is falling right into the trap. You think these shootings are random? Rahm Emanuel once said never let a good tragedy go to waste.

We are all being played

I guess electricity and telephone communication were invented somewhere else? How about the internet? Assembly line manufacturing?

Jesus christ! Electricity wasn't invented, but was indeed discovered before we were even a country. Telephone communication was given a patent here, but again you're incorrect. Google Venetian Arsenal for your answer to the assembly line. I'll give you the internet...maybe try searching it before speaking ****head.

Yeah we have a knife problem inour schools here in Aus....every few months some kid gets stabbed.

However, rarely is there even one life lost...

Are you disputing he was a known threat?

Plenty of people in this thread have lost credibility. I'm not a triggered snowflake so it doesn't bother me what other ****tards think.

I am disputing your credibility based on your claim he was an ANTIFA sympathiser.

Who invented the electric lightbulb? Who developed the means to harness and use electricity?

Again, nobody in the US. Edison got a patent and is a very well known thief if that is who you think the answer is. Did your history books have pop-ups? You have absolutely no reason to not know this information.

Where Edison succeeded and surpassed his competition was in developing a practical and inexpensive light bulb, according to the DOE. Edison and his team of researchers in Edison's laboratory in Menlo Park, N.J., tested more than 3,000 designs for bulbs between 1878 and 1880. In November 1879, Edison filed a patent for an electric lamp with a carbon filament. The patent listed several materials that might be used for the filament, including cotton, linen and wood. Edison spent the next year finding the perfect filament for his new bulb, testing more than 6,000 plants to determine which material would burn the longest.

No one else developed a practical and long term usable light bulb.

Let me put this all in perspective. We have a thread of yet another school shooting in which 17 people died. We have an American citizen screaming that it was Antifa, even though it's been shown not to be. We have another American citizen who I have seen repeatedly post about Alex Jones, who is famous for denying that the Sandy Hook school shooting even happened. We have the same Antifa screamer ignoring centuries of history to try and say that the world's greatest inventions and discoveries were all done right here in the US. Hell, he even ignores the FIRST SENTENCE of the link that he provides as "proof".

****, this thread couldn't be any more American if you baked it in an apple pie and fed it to a bald eagle.

How many times have I screamed antifa? How many times have I screamed antifa after updated news reports came out?

You're so triggered by anything I post it's comical. You don't get this worked up over the insane **** posted by Ax1.

Not willing to lie down and let more lies be spread doesn't mean I'm "triggered" if you want to talk like a child. Have you corrected your statement or left it there for future morons to find and run with? You refuse to actually educate yourself and try and insult me for getting an education. Like I said, you have absolutely no reason to be this uneducated and choose to be ignorant.

How many times? I guess calling people ****tard it talking like a child?

We are taking shots at each other in the middle of someone else's tragedy. Come on folks. We are better than this.

Why you Shouldn’t Trust Snopes for Political “Fact Checking”

Snopes is actually a pretty good at disproving “outlandish urban legends”, but when they deal with political ‘fact checking’ their bias is blatant. The*couple behind*Snopes, David and Barbara Mikkelson, readily admit that their “fact checking” is*“only as reliable as the sources they cite, and they invite readers to look for the truth themselves.”*They go on to say,*“We don’t expect anyone to accept us as the ultimate authority on any topic.”*The couple recruited a specialist to handle their political “fact checking” and as a result we’re seeing more and more political bias creeping into Snopes.

Snopes’ sole political fact-checker,*Kim Lacapria, “describes herself as a liberal and has called Republicans regressive and afraid of female agency.” Prior to joining Snopes, Kim Lacapria reportedly known for publishing fake quotes and various hoaxes — furthermore she admits she’s a liberal Democrat. At the end of the day, if you see your favorite urban myth being debunked on Snopes there is a pretty good chance you’ll get pretty good information — if you’re looking for political “fact checking” you might take a second look.
