Finasteride Side Effects

Your talking about something you know nothing about.

Stop being a hypocrite

Whether he's a hypocrite or not, he's right. Anytime a guy takes this poison he is risking his manhood. That being said, the majority of users never experience any negative side effects. But for the ones that do, it's life changing....for the worst.

Lol. Love you too John! Hope you are still posting here in your late 50’s.

Mine have been temporly and libido has came back every time once I stopped finasteride. My libido still works just reduce and the fact I see my girlfriend 1-2 times a week, I can appreciate it reduced. Before I see her I discontinue a day or so before. There's always cialis as well

It is healthy for preventive prostate issues, existing prostate issues and for those that just want to reduce dht in the body. Some people it effects more than others

lol Love you back bro. I hope your posting here in your 90's, looking great , still giving it to your girl like a spring chicken =-)

You're correct in that it does effect some more then others, but to say that it's healthy just isn't true. Far from it. You're lucky that you can take it the way you do and you're not devastated by it. Some guys lives are completely ruined by it for years on end.

And concerning prostate issues, these are caused by high estrogen, not high DHT. That's a myth that's been circulating around for ever.

Where are you getting your info? Ive been on Finasteride for nearly 3 weeks and ive had ZERO side effects. Not a thing. Devestated by it? I have read the horror stories also but were ALL different and drugs react DIFFERENT. Painkillers can cause side effects.. You gonna stop taking them when your rocking toochache or a headache?

The medication your put on to SHRINK your prostate is DURASTERIDE and FINASTERIDE. I have spoke to a GP and these are the 2 offered in the uk. Not an estrogen blocker. Ie Aromsain or Arimdex. Read the facts first before putting people off

Unreal......

Lol.

I know you don't know who you're speaking to, but I run a website for guys that have been DESTROYED by finasteride. I'm not one for arguing on the internet. If anyone needs to do some fact checking, it's you.

If you want to inform yourself, go to propecia help .com......Spend some time there....read the stories.

ignorance is not bliss when it comes to this. Believe me.

And of course the meds shrink the prostate....it starves it of DHT which is necessary for proper function. The reason the prostate is swollen in the first place isn't because of the DHT, it's because of high estrogen. The meds shrink it all the same.....

Systemically lowering DHT is a horrible idea for men...horrible. Not only that, but by blocking the 5ar enzyme you're also blocking production of potent neurosteroids in the brain. I could go on.

Not every guy is effected. It took six months to **** me up before I realized what was happening to me. Point is, if you're genetically predisposed to post finasteride syndrome, there is no way to tell except by taking the medication. For some guys it's just not worth it.

I have read through this thread, and I too have dealt with the never ending battle of hairloss. Its very tough to see yourself with full thick beautiful hair and then see it gradually fall and your appearance change dramatically. I did take fin for 5 years in the past and I was not happy about it. The side effects finally caught up to me and I worked to stop taking it. I was able to introduce minoxidil and I found a topical fin that I could put and it helped. But it was only a matter of time and the shedding continued. I am now on Dutasteride for over 1.5 years, I have to say it is better than fin for me. Less foggy, not much libido change. I did get my blood work done and my estrogen was a bit higher than I liked so I added a otc eblocker to my vitamin regimen and I am feeling good about it overall. I still use the minoxidil spray nightly and also take hair vitamins and use a dht blocking shampoo. I am fighting it and having moderate success. Best of luck to all those going against the MBP gene.

Best thing I ever did was shave my head. I don't worry about it anymore.

Life is cruel, i am trying everything to stop my hair loss... i have now resorted to a HT on yhe 25th of april. What people dont get is, hair loss can really destroy some peoples lives, for me.... it has and will continue to do...

I have an ok face, i cant really complain, but my forehead and skull are extremely large and slightly disfigured... i CANT go bald, i would havw people staring at me and commenting behind my back, if you dony feel comfortable in your own skin, your quality of life is shocking.

Again some people will just say "dont worry about what others say" well ****, i wouldny care if i was just unattractive, i can work with that... but disfigured is a whole new ball game

It definitely lowers my libido . No doubt about it. I got a prescription and use it . Sometimes while on trt e3d. If Im using higher doses of test I use it bc I value my hair. The lowered libido isnt so bad , esp if your a horny bugger , and it gets annoying masterbating five times a day. Just stop taking it close to sex or reduce dosage, if that's a concern. No more than 1 mgs. I probably do 1.25 bc I got a script for 5 mgs and break them up. Even 0.5 and 0.2 in studies has been shown to reduce dht quite a bit.

What would you consider a high dosage?

You can't be that bad. I walk around with a huge HT scar from ear to ear.....I could care less. Once you lose your dick, things are put into perspective. If you're lucky enough to get it back, you look differently on these things..

Everyone acts like it completely destroyed all your DHT levels even at the normal dose ED it only reduces 70% at most

You will only ever see the negative reviews online (why would anyone be bothered posting positive reviews online all the time) which only counts for a very small percentage (under 5%) that are using it

Me personally have been using it for 5 years and my libido has never been affected, it’s grown my hair, I still make gains, my sex drive is out of control and I’m 34 years old

It’s been used for decades and decades for prostate health/hair loss with no issues and had plenty of double blind studies on huge amount of people with positive results but people will concentrate on a handful of unfortunate people on the internet fear mongering

Take it. If YOU personally get sides, don’t take it. Simple. But don’t come on forum and absolutely bash someone’s choice to save their hair or completely trash a medication that they know nothing about at all. Bunch of ****ing sheep

I've had bloods done, ill get the results in a couple of days. If everything seems fine, ill start at 1mg ED, if i start to experience sides ill drop down to 0.5mg ED and if it persists ill even try 0.25mg. If a slight drop in libido is all im experiencing I might consider an AI or something like horny goat weed to keep the Mrs happy. If that doesn't work ill discontinue straight away, grow a pair, and shave a 1.

Thanks for all the help guys

It only reduces DHT by 70% Only!?? 70%? You realize only shouldn't precede 70% as it's the majority of the DHT in their system. Some men can perform with a 70% reduction in DHT. DHT isn't some hormone to be demonized. It's responsible for what makes a man a man. Bottom line.

Due to genetics, some men cannot function by reducing DHT that much. Some men can.

These unfortunate men aren't fear mongering. They are warning other guys that despite what the doctor said about side effects going away upon cessation of the drug, they DIDN'T, and in many cases persist for years and years on end.

I make it a point to make people aware of this. If I can stop another young guy from losing his manhood for years on end, I'm going to.

Your advice to take it, and then stop if you get side effects is a dangerous one. For guys genetically predisposed to PFS (post finasteride syndrom) If they take the drug, even if they stop, side effects can be debilitating to the point of destroying their lives. The side effects don't stop for guys with PFS....it takes them years of specific lifestyle changes to get themselves back. I know....I was one of those guys.

Take this poison with caution. Or better yet, don't take it at all. period.

*up to 70%
I have never taken the full dose and never every day, hell even prostrate patients take 5mg a day and are fine

Go for it, no one is stopping you. Calling it a poison is classic fear mongering and everyone else on the Internet forums seem to want to “warn” everyone not to take fin when there in fact millions and millions of people around the world who are regularly taking fin successfully with little to no impact on their life lol

It's not fear mongering if what's being said is true.

You are correct.....for the majority of users, there is no problem.

But I can tell you this....for every single guy that has PFS, they wish they would have known there was a possibility of being decimated sexually by taking the drug. For these men....every single one of them, it may have well been poison that they've taken.

Guys that have PFS are wrecked by taking as little as a few doses of this drug.....just a few!

Consider yourself part of the lucky majority.

I tried Fin some time ago when I was younger and concerned with my hair. I dropped it as soon as I started getting symptoms (ie sex drive dive). Shaved head ftw!

If you have androgenic alopecia, ask yourself whats more important reduced dht levels or hair

again you can always use every other day etc. I can see both sides points but like I said theres three sides of a coin, heads tales and the edge, I stand on the edge. If I thought I could get away with not using it, keep my hair (among other benefits), would I? sure

Great point about negative reviews. For every 1 negative review on cars messing up theres 20 positive reviews that are great. Same with restaurants, same with this. People complain online when they feel they have a very bad experience, whether its eggarrated or not. I know when I have great experiences at a restaurant I dont post them but if I feel the restaurant did me very very wrong I may.

The half live isnt long and its out of your system shortly. Like anything some guys blame there sexual issues on this when its something else, and they just want something to blame

I feel like everyone is beating a dead horse in this thread

My ex boyfriend was on it for his thinning hair.

He didn't experience any of the sexual (thank god) or other side effects you guys are mentioning.

He DID have liver issues due to it, however. After a month or so, his doc ordered a blood test and found his AST and ALT liver enzymes were highly elevated - indicating damage was being done.

Neither his doc or further research could explain why this happened. We found a few other people mentioning it on other forums..but that was it. Any doc we called couldn't really explain why it was happening.

I'm going to make a final post on this matter and then I'm going to be done. I feel like some of you are not picking up what I'm putting down, and that's fine. I'm simply making these posts so that guys that are reading this and are on the fence about this drug know what can happen.

It's not simply a matter of reduced dht, but reduced neurosteroids which cause a great deal of pain and suffering for men genetically predisposed to this condition.

Men who get PFS are not exaggerating anything. If you are in the small subset of men that can get this condition, simply taking a few doses can change your life for the worse. Yes..... a few doses.

Again, just because the majority of men can take this drug without issue is what makes it seem safe, and that being said, it is safe for the majority of people.....BUT.....IF you are sensitive to 5ar inhibition, you don't get a second chance with this. How do you know if you're predisposed to this? You don't. The only way to tell is to roll the dice, take the drug and if you get side effects when you're prone to PFS, the symptoms will NOT reverse easily. THIS is all that I'm trying to say.

I can rest easy knowing that I've said my piece. There will be some men that are reading this that will do their research and make their decision based upon that research.

Best of luck to any of you.

I'm out.

I was using it for years and my AST or ALT cant remember which one was like 7 times the normal limit... stopped taking finasteride and started a natural dht, back down to normal with in 3 weeks. But losing hair again :(

Agree with your last statement everyone will make their own decision

Something to add is that its not that simple at least for me. You just dont take it a for a week and suddenly you can't get a hard on. The effects take time and are very gradual, hell they say it doesn't really show effects of working for a year. So its not very easy to find out what this stuff really does to you. There is no test you have to try and see. Its disappointing to say the least. Like I said earlier in a previous post I am not taking fin anymore and am now taking dutasteride. It seems better to me, but again its only been a year and a half.

It takes a year for finasteride to work? Like to improve hair or retain? Wtf?...

I wasn't going to say anything

Finasteride is active from after its swallowed to the 4-7 hour half live. After that dht is still reduced , until it climbs back up.

Just like an oral prohormone its in your system then out.

fina doesn't really improve hair after its lost, it stops it by reducing dht, which is the culprit that shrinks the hair and cuts off oxygen supply.

It takes a year for finasteride to work? Like to improve hair or retain? Wtf?...

Yea, to visually see your hair improved, the dr's say give it about a year to notice. Also there is a shedding period in the beginning that you need to deal with. But the shedding is actually a good sign that the dormant hairs are falling for new ones to come in. All this stuff takes time, like I said you wont really see a difference or feel a difference right away.

Depends on what type of hair loss you have
If you’re totally bald and receding it’s hard to see any results at all 1+ years

If you’re a diffuse thinner like myself where I thin all over I see results in 6 months easy

Any updates? Haha
I got 1mg tablets, I'm considering taking .5mg EOD

My mate does this, says it keeps his hair thinning and is considered low dose. 8 years he's mentioned and no libido issues.

Everyone got me paranoid! Will this affect my gym? Lol
