fight scene from 300

Pffftttt.... Looks like a good one for the kiddies. :)

History Channel did a nice show on Thermophylae last night which explained the background for the battles.

This story has always been a little private totem for me. It exemplified many of the values that I try and live by. I'm a tad bewildered now that this movie is coming out because it used to be that no one else really knew about it. I'm sorta feeling like the hipster who loved a band when only twelve people had heard of them but gets dismayed when the band is suddenly on MTV. I'm hoping that all the people who are now learning of this story will take the correct lessons from it.

Yeah, so thats when you break out your old T-shirts, the ones that are faded from washing and the logo is all peelin' off, then everybody will know that you were parting with these guys way before they were famous!...and you tell everyone that, their new album is too main stream. I liked there old stuff better,..before they "sold out"!

Understand. My high school team was the Spartans, so I grew up with this; my main concern when I heard about this movie was that they would just max out the fight scenes & lose what made this battle a turning point in world civilisation.

Sounds like they did.

Well, it's based off a comic book so I don't expect it to be a History Channel documentary. It's an epic story that can be enjoyed on many levels.

Nonetheless, the 300 Spartans and 700 Thespians who stood their ground at Thermopylae arguably saved what we think of today as Western civiliazation. There are turning points in time where the courage of a few changes everything thereafter. This was one of them. I hope people will take that lesson away from the movie (as well as enjoying the testosterone rush).

saw it yesterday and it was awesome...i cant wait for this to come to DVD.

I enjoyed it as well, to me it was almost a bit like as if the movies Sin City and Gladiator collided, very visual, very intense, and a bit like a music video at times lol.

I am a descendant of Spartan #5 of the 300.

Watching this made me want to seriously kill someone, does that make me sick? I dont know but the movie was definately SICKKKKKK!

I heard that most spartans fought in the nude so we should be grateful that this movie was not exactly "historically correct".

Im somewhat there. I mean i knew about this movie a while back. I am also the first poster on this board to post about this movie!

On a side note, I think alot of these guys were on roids during or before the making of this....jmo. They probably supplied it to them too.

The IMAX tickets I just purchased from Fandango are for the show that starts in 2hrs and 16 min. :bow28:

do TROY and 300 tie in at all? was it around the same time or were the same armies invold?
The Trojan War was much earlier in Greek History(1300-1200 BC), where the Battle of Thermopylae took place in 480 BC. The Spartans were involved in both though.

300... pure fvckin' testosterone dude.
