Last night I was doing my max bench and as i went down I felt a click and I barely got the weight back up, I did 1 more rep (in allot of pain) then stopped...at this point I knew I hurt my shoulder but I thought it would go away shortly...I rubbed it for a minute then moved on.

I started to do another exercise and my shoulder was in allot of pain and knew something was def wrong...I realized I can barely move my arm/shoulder...I went home, iced it...and went to bed. Today it’s in the same amount of pain, and the same limited mobility...

Any suggestions? I put some peanut oil on the area last night/this morning and have been messaging the area...

Thanks.

rotator cuff. it is the most common injury in the gym, and it usually comes on after a day of heavy benching.

there are rotator cuff exercises you can find, you can get a physical therapist, my advice would be to find a sports medicine place that has a "tens unit". that worked for me. in the future, don't try max bench days - stick to 5 reps minimum. with a preexisting injury, a max bench day will not do you any favors.

Does it hurt when you raise you arms above your head?
Does it hurt when you do a lateral movement?
Does it feel DEEP within your shoulder?

I strained my rotator cuff and it hurt like hell with all these movements. Went to orthopedic surgeon had an MRI and it showed inflammation buy no tear (I was surprised from the pain). He gave me one cortisone shot and within 3 months I was golden.

I would start with ice and NSAIDS for a couple weeks and lay off the bench, and do the rotator cuff exercises.

Rotator cuff.
Be patient this will take some time to heal.
If you don't feel some sort of relief within a few weeks go see an orthopaedic specialist.

It seems everyone neglects Rotator cuff exersices(myself included). I have skipped my RC exersices and I'm feeling soreness lately. This post was an awesome reminder for me!

FWIW...My ortho doctor told me to stay away from the smith machine for military press. To restrictive in motion. You can't cheat a little if it gets heavy.
This Dr has treated an NFL player...so I trust him.

its been about a month since my injurt, and im at 96% (i know very exact) ;)

Im back to lifting heavy, the strange thing is i dont think it was my rotator cuff although everything pointed to it...not sure what i hurt but it still hurts when i bench so iv been staying away from that but i can lift heavy in everything else...i usually do pushups for chest so i don't re injure myself.

Take it from someone who has hurt their rotatur cuff before to the point I couldnt lift for about 3 months and I watched my mother get the surgery for a torn rotator cuff.

Take your time healing up. Keep rubbing it and eating enough to recover.

My biomechanics professor was explaining to the class how excessively training your rotator cuff muscles with continued routine exercise will actually increase the risk of an injury.

yup best thing you can do is take sometime off, maybe a few weeks or so depending on pain. I messed my right rotator cuff up doing heavy behind the neck presses first year of college, cuz i was stupid then and didn't have correct form. I tried benching, back exercises, etc, and I couldnt do anything. I took a week off, and came back to the gym trying to lift and realized it would take alot longer to heal properly.
