“The Ultimate Fighter” season two winner Rashad Evans has signed to face Chuck Liddell in the main event of the upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship show on June 7 in London. MMAWeekly.com confirmed the bout late Wednesday.

Liddell was slated to face former Pride champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, but the Brazilian had to drop out do to a recurring knee injury that will require surgery.

Evans has long been rumored to face Brazilian light heavyweight Thiago Silva as a part of the May 24 card featuring B.J. Penn vs. Sean Sherk in the main event, but will instead step in to take Rua’s place.

Liddell is coming off of one of the biggest wins of his career, a unanimous decision over Wanderlei Silva at UFC 79.

After fighting to a draw with Tito Ortiz at UFC 73, Evans returned to headline UFC 78 in New Jersey edging out a split decision win over England’s Michael Bisping.

Following verification of the fight, MMAWeekly.com was able to reach Evans who will make an appearance on MMAWeekly Radio Thursday night at 9pm EST/6pm PST to talk about the fight.

Ooops...I've been paying attention to the books more this week than to the MMA subforum...looks like you guys already knew this! :ntome:

Evans will be his replacement.

Rashad Evans (Pictures) is expected to fight Chuck Liddell (Pictures) June 7 in London, England, Sherdog.com confirmed Wednesday.

The light heavyweight bout came together just one day after the UFC announced Mauricio Rua (Pictures) pulled out of the fight against Liddell (21-5) because of a ruptured ACL in his left knee.

Following losses to Quinton Jackson (Pictures) and Keith Jardine (Pictures), Liddell, 38, righted his ship with a decision win over Wanderlei Silva (Pictures) in late December.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Evans' last appearance in the Octagon saw him draw Tito Ortiz (Pictures) after three rounds. Evans is unbeaten in the UFC and sports an overall record of 11-0-1.

Evans had been rumored to fight Brazilian Thiago Silva May 24 in Las Vegas as part of the UFC 84 card.

Wow, Evans looks conditioned. I'm not sure how much more interest it adds to the fight for me, but then again, I underestimated Jardin too when he faced Lidell.

I dont see it going more than 1 round. There is little that Evans brings to the table that Liddell hasnt already seen and beaten. His cryptonite is just Page

Naw, the thread wasn't titled properly to show the topic.

I agree with the others as far the fight. Maybe he'll pull that Slamon head kick kick out of his ass? Not likely. Rashad will probably be tentative as hell until the inevitable making for a boring fight.

Jas, have you seen Swayze's retarded twin brother who looks like he grew up next to a nuclear power plant?

Damn, I'm crazy for Swayze, but not that one. I think I have seen him before but forget his level of awesomeness.

Nice Sergei av. That was going to my next one. :FUfinger:
You're "crazy for Swayze?" Holy sh*t is all I got.
