Douchebags at the gym...

Last 2 pics are priceless! LOL I haven't been to the gym in 3 weeks so I haven't been able to contribute lately

I think perhaps "douchebag" is the wrong term to use in his case, but keeping personal hygiene is simply something you should do out of respect for those around you. In the case of going to the gym, he was well aware that he would be around several people.

I know I fight for everyone's right to have an opinion but that doesn't mean you have to tell people about how sh*tty yours is.

The guy had some b.o. so what? There are days that I get off from a 12+ hour day at work and go to the gym. Why on earth would I go to the gym, shower, and then workout and get sweaty and smelly again just so I could take another shower?

I noticed a few things in the gym the past couple of days that although not necessarily douchebaggery, they certainly necessitate the need to be mentioned here.

I find it funny when there are guys in the gym walking around in their steel toed boots, cut off tshirts, who hop on the incline bench only to have their girlfriend of 105lbs spot them while they crank out 10 reps for 225. I doubt the girl is going to help you should a problem arise.

Is it really necessary to wear lifting gloves if you are bicep curling 25lbs DBs? Does your lifting belt need to stay on the entire time you are in the gym?

And finally my favorite. The guys that walk around drinking out of these:

For when the water fountain will simply not do.

I saw 2 dudes today doing ME squats on the smith machine. I mean straight up MAX EFFORT. Spotters, belts, foam pad, screaming...the whole 9 yards.

It was AWESOME.

So because someone doesn't smell good but still wants to improve themselves they are douchebags?

1. He had just walked into the gym
2. My wife, on the other side of the gym noticed it at the same time as myself
3. It wasn't sweat or B.O. - it was a nasty old clothes, unwashed, been-warn clothes smell.
4. He sat in the middle of the cardio area

Improve yourself all you want, but don't smear yourself with **** before you go in public.

Oh now I understand why you posted that in here! That's all you had to say to make me understand that

Who's the douchebag now huh? HUH!!!!!????
Lol

I was the douchebag tonight. As I was pulling a plate off the bar I dropped it. It hit just right though so it started rolling. I ran after it intending to pick it up and then looked up to see no one in the way so I just started walking next to it. Plate eventually made it down to cardio row and in between two treadmills before it stopped. I threw my hands up signalling field goal. Two guys clapped and the rest of the gym stared disapprovingly at me. I laughed, picked up the plate and then did the walk of shame (while grinning profusely) back to the bar.

I disagree; that's not being a douche. That's owning it, laughing it off and going back to work.

Douche would've been to let it roll then leave it.

I think you just invented a new sport.

You actually got me laughing. I would've been one of the clapping guys if I was there. Haha.

You must spread some reputation around before giving it to smohk again.

Ever see those guys that give you those stares at the gym that say "I'm the ****, you can't out bench me", granted I'm not a big guy, but why not grill someone your size?
On a related note: guy puts on 2 45's on a bar..every rep lets out a grunt that the entire gym can hear..puts a 25 on each side, gets it off the rack, one side slips and all the weight goes crashing down. Embarrassed, he walks out and drives off, leaving the weights there. Better luck next time!

There was this short Guy giving me that look while he DB inclined 45 for like 6. Of course it was at the end of my shoulder workout so I was finishing with some raises. I had to restrain myself from pointing out that my lightest set of Arnold press was more than 45.

I've had a jersey shore wannabe add extra weights to my bar when I was already benching double my weight.

IN THIS SHIIT!

My story is that I was maxing out on squats and when I got up after a squat to take a 5 sec rest with the bar still on me a woman next to me takes off a 45 plate that was on the bench next to her and racks it on my ****ing bar that had weight on it. Thing is was that I was feeling such intense skin bursting pumps that I closed my eyes while taking my 5 second rest with sweat flowing all over my face i just felt unstoppable long story short I squated with out noticing the 45lb at first since I was standing and legs were vertical that as soon as I bent my knees I ate **** and popped two of my ribs out of place. I FUKING STARE AT THE BITSCH STRAIGHT IN THE EYES EVER SINCE THEN, WTF WAS HER PROBLEM FUKING ****

Wow what did she say after u collapsed?

Had a dude on seated back rows, slam the weight and almost himself into the foot rest on the machine.

Had some high schoolers yesterday doing squats in the rack. 2 guys and 2 girls. Of course the girls were dressed to impress and not really situated for weight lifting whatsoever. Nice tight yoga pants and low cut tops. Definitely a test boost for sure. What made me laugh was the guys were spotting the girls by just holding onto their hips with their hands. That'll work. GTFO.

Everyone knows you spot them with your thumb up their butt!

So what I'm getting from this thread, is that no matter what you do, even supersetting across two machines, you're a douchebag.

Before I went to the gym, I thought all gym rats were douchebags. Then I started going, and thought maybe they weren't so bad.

Now I find out it's because I'm now a douchebag too.

*sigh*

Got one today, saw a Kevin hart skit come to life. I'm in the rack doing squats when I hear some dude screaming and grunting like a friggin banshee over at the benches. I look over and see this guy slapping his chest and pacing back forth in front of the bench with 465 on the bar, now he was a pretty big guy so I thought he might actually have a chance at pushing it so I stopped and watched (thought I'm either gonna see an awesome lift or an epic fail), as did everyone else who heard him grunting, (the whole gym). He finally gets under the bar and we all think he's gonna unrack the bar when he shoots back up and checks the weights on both sides....douche gets back under the bar and stands back up again but this time he just leaves the gym, leaving the weights on the bar and without even attempting the lift once

Why didn't you film that?

Forgot to mention that there's a guy at my gym that does leg curls EVERY ****IN DAY, and swears they're the best leg exercise. Don't think I've ever seen him squat, just curl 65 in the squat rack a few times.

He also claims to work out 4-8 hours a day every single day since he was 16.

no, just people that endanger other people and themself dont put weights away, and act like they have no idea what mutual respect is are douchebags

Had this bodybuilding lady the other day taking up like four machines and stuff and my friend and I didn't realize we got on one so when I take out my headphones she's over talking all this smack to some other dudes about us loud enough so everyone could hear so I walk over and tell her to speak up and stop talking **** cause I would of gave her the machine if she woulda asked

there is always like a 40 YR old fat guy who just appears out of thin air, my truck is the only vehicle there so im guessing he walks and apparently is working everything i am that day except in reverse order so he's always where I need to be. Then he puts about half of the weight I do on whatever it is and pumps out 5 "hard reps" while yelling like a gorilla getting raped and in between every set he gives me the death stare..idk wtf his problem is.

oh and I spend about 15 mins EVERYDAY racking other people's weight or organizing it the correct way. I've never seen who it is but I wish I could give em a piece of my mind...sorry, thats my rant for the day.

Amen

One of the earliest complaints was about someone using more than one machine at once... Like supersetting the incline and decline machine. I see that all the time, and unless the gym is packed, don't really see a problem with it.

If your doing that it's all good as long as your cool about people working in. I personally don't mind people working in my sets and i sometimesI superset with machines. As long as they don't act like morons and just sit there between their sets acting like they just took over the machine. If they do they gets the boot but I've never had a problem common courtesy couldn't handle.

To be honest, starting somewhere in the last 30 pages of the thread and up to and including somewhere in the last 5, somebody let the ***** kids in to vent about their insecurities and their own douchebaggery and somehow try to turn it around and make it about the other people lifting. Thread went from making fun of people being complete asshats to making fun of hard working lifters by those who weigh what I can bicep curl for reps. I mean come on, really?

My favorite story about a gym douche was actually from like, 2 or 3 years ago.

I was doing cable tricep push-downs. In my gym there are two cables attached to the same weight stack, and if you hook the cables together you essentially get double the weight as you'd feel with 1 (ie if you put your attachment on one cable and are doing 120lbs, then it logically follows that if you attached the second cable to that first cable you'd likely had to decrease weight to 60lbs). This is nice for exercises wherein you've maxed out the weight stack and would like to continue increasing weight.

I had hooked the cables together. I usually did about 160lbs with 1 cable, so I had the machine set at 80lbs. This bro character comes into the gym (skinny dude with his chest puffed out and a stride that suggested he looked down on everyone in the gym), and immediately starts looking around the room just to see what everyone is doing. AS SOON as he sees me doing 80lb tricep push-downs (he doesn't realize you can hook cables together lol), he walks quickly over with confidence just oozing about his person, and says "Yo bro, can I work in?" Of course I say sure, so he takes the pin and puts it at 120lbs (feels like 240, when in reality he should have been placing it at 60lbs to make it feel like 120 lol). He made a show of this, as well. Like RIPS the pin out of the weight stack, and SLAMS it in at 120, like this was some serious ****ing business. He huffs in 3 huge breaths so everyone can hear, and then goes to push the straight-bar attachment downwards while stepping forward to provide momentum. The stack literally budges maybe a quarter inch lol. With a look of wild confusion on his face, he steps back and tries again, this time the weight stack doesn't move at all. He starts pushing with all of his might, face red and everything lol. I step forward and he goes "What the hell is this man, double weight???" And I said yeah, I hooked the cables together. He sheepishly lowers the weight to 60lbs and does 8 reps. After he's done I tell him I only have two sets left, and he says (very quickly) "Naw bro, you're good, I was only doing one set," walks out of the gym, and doesn't come back lol.

Some guys need to drop their ego, but I love when things like that happen. I'm entirely convinced that some guys come into the gym and specifically try looking for people weaker than them to work in with in order to feel better about themselves. What a bunch of idiots.

Don't really have a specific situation BUT...! Guys who have other people start going to them gym with them and show them what to do even though they have absolutely NO idea what they're doing so then the new guys do everything wrong and look like they're going to injure themselves. I think that's the worst.

I hate when people take up half the gym and get offended when you don't know that they claimed it.
