Douchebags at the gym...

UKNoko said:
I use one pair that's dyed black and leave stains (that's a problem of cheap dying process, I'd think) and one that is not dyed, no problems there. Those second are actually sailing gloves and, Mike, you can wash them so they don't get stinky :)
And yeah sweaty palms and dry, cracking skin - same here.

Yeah I do wash and air dry them once in awhile but I tend to forget and leave then in my gym bag . Everyday I think damni gotta wash these but I everyday I forget lol

Yeah, they get more stinky when I forget to take them out of bag. True.
BTW. Those I use are "tribord water-sport/sailing gloves".

On topic: I hate those f*ggots that collect few pairs of dumbbells to do useless exercises and when you want to grab a pair for one set when they're resting they go "BUT I'M USING IT". Then don't bother to put them back on the rack. Worthless a**hats!

Lmao
Ya, although the other day I had this old man.
He had a little bit of a gut and had to be about 65 maybe 60. He was small guy. 5'7 maybe.
Had 2 50lb dumb bells.
I was like what the hell.
He had them on floor, he was bent over and I thought he was going to try and deadlift them or something.

NOPE this old dude flipped up side down and did. Upside down push ups using the weights as handles.
That flipped me out.
I sort of watched in awe for a second.

There's this 60something year old man at my gym that curls 65lb dumbells,,, blows my mind!

Saw this kid today, about 20-22 .
He was benching 135 and squatting the same.

He sees me setting up bench and tells me
"Ya, I'm going to push more plates than a dishwasher."

I said really?
Awesome!!!

Gave him a big excited smile and offered my bench.

Here is my warm up set.
Let's see what you can do.
It was 315lbs

He pops off.
Nah, I'm good, already finished my chest today.

I hardly talk to anyone when I go to gym, but I never seem to shy away from the little punks starting stuff. Lol

Got a good one for today....this dude at the gym I'd say maybe 225-250 about 25% bf maybe more is benching next to me well I was doing close grip bench for my tris and ad I get done with my first set he comes over and says "hey bud your hands are way to close for benching your working your tris not your chest like that come over and watch me I'll show you" I said well PAL I'm benching like this for my tris not my chest! And by the way your going to wreck your shoulders benching that way (he was benching completely wrong you can even see him pushing his shoulder into it)....then he said oh well your doing it right then.....DA FUK!!!!!!!!! I hate ppl sometimes

How about people that don't speak English aka foreign students or ethnic minorities? OK, my English is retarded at points. It's my second language.
(And no racism here, I've got some hating for white retarded too)

Though, I'm asking this Pakistani scrawny guy doing hang cleans with 20kg loaded on the bar IN THE F*CKING SQUAT RACK "how many sets have you got?" He says "five" in a quiet voice, almost not audible. So, I walk away. And after 3 minutes I look and he left and there is some dude doing proper squats. Learn the difference between reps and sets will you please?

The other one comes from an instructor. To her class came a new Asian girl. It was some incarnation of aerobics. Girl stands in the front row. Class starts. After a while she was completely lost and struggling. So the instructors tries to help her out a bit. But for every sentence she said the girl just smiled widely and nodded with absolutely no understanding.

First gym I worked at as a PT I usually trained folks in the free weight room and on the Nautilus equipment. Typically all strength training. They hire a female PT/Nutritionist to help folks lose weight. Sounded like a fine idea. So, one day this guy comes in. He is about 6' 4" and easily 450 lbs of unadulterated blubber. His goal "to lose this big ole gut of mine". Sarah figures this falls under her kingdom and is gonna help this guy shrink his epic midsection. She sets him up in the very middle of the free weight room sitting side saddle on a bench, has him put a broom handle across his shoulders and leaves him there doing endless trunk twists. Apparently Sarah majored in Spot Reduction Techniques of the 17th Century.

That sucks.
That guy will never come back.
I have helped a few people, you have to spend the time.
Start them slow, get them to feel it is possible.
It took them 10 or more years to put it on, takes a little time to get it off.
Some of the trainers in my gym, I see doing some similar things.
However a few of them are really top notch.
I saw one guy over the last 9 months or so drop from at least 350 down to about 250 and pretty built. His life will forever be changed.

Oh, and I know you guys have already covered the apparel issue, as far as headbands, straps, gloves.......

We have one guy, has his gloves on for everything, including the eliptical machine and the treadmill. So about a week ago I am shaving at the gym, and this same dude comes out of a stall, with his gloves on. That's right folks, he has been wiping his a$$ while wearing gloves. Walks right past all the soap dispensers and sinks, and heads into the workout room. Best part is that he is a chef for the restaurant above my gym. Note to self: Skip the Sunday buffet.

or the guy with lawn and garden leather gloves....people who use chalk for everything! this morning i was supersetting with cable rows and lat pull downs, guy knows im doin it and changes the bar and weight on lat pull, i was like "dude theres another lat pull right there" so he leaves the bar he put on and takes my bar to the other machine with an attitude...

or my wife who constantly says "its cuzz of all the creatine youre on" when i dont feel good

The guy with gloves coming out of the stale is just sick.

Makes me wonder.
I am one of the few that wipe down every piece of equipment I use, after I use it.
I now have to ask myself why I don't do that before I use it.

Luckily my gym has Clorox whip dispensers and trash cans at end of every aisle.

If there's an e coli outbreak at your gym, we'll know why...

I watched a guy use a weight belt on an ab machine. My head almost exploded.

I've also had a couple of people in the last week walk in front of me and take the spot in the rack that my weights belong to with a 20 lb dumbbell.

People who block the mirror while not working out piss me off too, especially when they walk right in front of me to just stand there. I'm trying to check form and all I see is their ass.

Hopefully just one unless my neck or leg on the counter cramp up then more until its well defined... I also have to get the bush at the top of my crack as well so I may need help spreading one cheek..... And no you cannot work in on that last set! :-)

Nah, didn't want to work in...got to put on much heavier weight, man. :-D

i hate going to the gym around the time all the highschool kids get out of school. They come in, in flocks and all stand around one bench. They sit there, in groups of literally 10-15, all taking turns and moving as slowly as possible. Instead of being stupid, why dont you break into groups and actually workout instead of standing around talking.

i hate when i want to get on a machine or bench and i have to deal with that crap.

An 18 or 21 an over gym may be a good seller. I get alot of the same at times. The only serious highschool kids I see work out there are usually wearing football or wrestling highschool tees and they usually are either alone or in pairs. The rest of them will do the same in a group of 4-5 all working chest on the racks so it takes an hour for them all to get through their crappy sets in one position ( thankfully they usually only do flat bench, I'd die if they started inclined or declined too) while they blab so loud I can hear them over my headphones.

i wasn't even aware of 18/21 and older gyms. If i wasn't locked in for a year, id consider switching. Either way its not that big of a deal its just annoying at times. You're right though, i forgot to mention how loud they are, its like im in on the conversation but on the other side of the room.

My gym belongs to a local university. No luck with introducing age restrictions there ;-) I wish one of the 24h gyms would open in my area. Anyway, it's exact the thing: herds of students doing pointless exercises in groups of 5 in which 4 exercise jaw all the time.

I was throwing the idea out there, I don't know if there is actually age restricted gyms for adults. Just sayin it would be a good idea

I misread what you said, that would be a good idea. I'm just curious if it would be affordable, as in I wonder how much income comes from younger people.

I doubt that much comes from the teenage crowd. I also think that if advertised as an adult only gym that it would draw more people thus more then compensating for any loss of profit from 86ing children. Too bad my credits ****ed or I'd be looking into a gym of my own similar or even a fitness 19 franchise

Not saying this is really a douchbag thing but a kid that's 18 I'd say since he has a senior class of '12 on it came to the gym in Dec and jan and some of feb and he was a freaking monster like I was kinda shocked he could be that disciplined and stuff I gave him a lot of credit....saw him yesterday or the first time in about a month and he is smaller then me like small to the point of where I honestly didn't know who he was at first....I'm thinking SD with no pct?

sounds like it

The poor uneducated youth at Ph's lol, sounds like me my first time :P But I didn't lose my gains...or have sides...*FREAK*

Lol can you imagine hearing a loud crash in the locker room and your first to respond only to find two big naked sweaty men piled on top of eachother on the ground on top of a broken wooden bench... Lmao! Suspicious?!

Thts what I was thinking. Lol

Two guys talked for 45 mins. One had a *** shaker. Nothing against them. Put 195 in smith to squat and didn't do a rep. Kept saying "that shiiii"

I use wrist straps to squat brah, come at me = the reply I got asked why this guy 25-30 was wearing straps for squat. He was a badass though with his 2 plate squats ya know with the 1/8 partial bend at the knees highbar status. I then found out later that he's currently on cycle by the PT there and not to mess with him cause he's dangerous and might roid rage....FFS my gym is the worst

Give lifting a bad name. Idiots.

Ok I'm sure this has been said before but
The other day I'm at the gym and this guy comes in wearing a baseball cap. He's pretty jacked but whatever.
He sets his weight up on the bench which looked to be a total of 220. He then walked across the room, and back to the bench, laid down got up checked the mirror walked away again, recheck mirror, move shirt slightly to see pecs, lay back down get back up, check biceps again, fix headphones, recheck mirror, lay down and start making noises finally lift weight once, place it back so everyone can hear it and look, proceed back to mirror.
Holy crap man. Just pick the fricking thing up and be done with it !! I'm not a big dude by any means but I can bench the same thing (ok maybe 20 pounds less) but still.

Needs an ego check. IMO 220 is a weight almost anyone can do after a good few months of training. Doesn't mean your a big shot. It gets harder

Yeah I consider 225 kinda part of my warmup sets and usually close out last set with as many reps of it as I can on flat. I'd get pissed for him wasting all that time in the bench. You need longer between sets I'm fine with that but if it's cus your being a pretty boy retard then expect some words.

On a semi related subject, was warming up on the elliptical and both power racks got snagged like usual. One guy benching (ok) and one doing shrugs and DB raises (wtf?!). I walked up and before I could think the kid doing shrugs spun around and offered the rack if I needed it, needless to say i was taken back and very pleased. It was a new thing I think I'm gonna call "douchebag rewind". Youre doing something douchey but correct yourself before it becomes a bother to someone else. Outstanding , you get a gold star today!

Glad u guys can push heavy weight.
My strength will get there some day.
I'm focusing on eating and lifting a challenging weight to stress the muscle.

Form 1st then weight.

Yeah, we have one squat rack and one lifting platform so the not douchey guys will often ask you if you need it or want to join in, regardless what they're doing. The douchey guys will behave douchey.
There were two kids deadlifting on the platform tonight. Didn't have any trouble with me working in.

Bench press is my weakest lift. I'm nowhere close to 220. Duh.

I think you guys could be on to something. I gotta say though some of us do start out benching tiny numbers. I started with 95lbs and it took me about a year, actually more, to get to a 185 max. Odd thing is it only took me 7 months to go to a 295 for a max triple afterwards, which is a 110lb gain? All it took was honing in my diet and being consistent in my training (not 3 months train, 2 months off, etc).

I never even knew I could move heavy weights.
Most of my muscle, after my weight loss, came from grappling. Even after losing weight I still grappled with people that were way larger.
Lots of push pull exercise with people that weigh 220+ I guess put on a lot more muscle then I realized.

Nice thing about muscle.
It doesn't care why it is fatigued.
It grows either way.
Think of the physics though, a human pulling against another is a lot of force. Grappling and and stretching. You are also flexing a stretched muscle, which causes even more hypertrophy.
