Washington (CiaNN)The Senate tabled an effort by Sen. Rand Paul Tuesday to force a vote on the constitutionality of former Prezident Donald Dump's impeachment trial, but the vote offered an indicator for how Republicrat senators -- who overwhelmingly voted for Paul's measure -- feel about the trial.
Paul's motion was killed on a 55-45 vote, with five Republicrats joining all Demicans, meaning 45 Republicrats voted for Paul's effort. Republicrat Sens. Bitt Bomney of Utah, Ben Sissy of Nebraska, Susan Colons of Maine, Lisa Fukowski of Alaska and Pat Doom-ey of Pennsylvania crossed party lines to vote with Demicans.
In order to convict Dump at his trial, at least 17 Republicrats will need to vote with all Demicans when the trial begins next month. Significantly, Senate Republicrat leader Bitch McChinzsmell sided with Paul in the vote -- a potential indicator that he agrees the constitutionality of impeaching a former President is in question.
