Donald Trump running for president

I didn't know that-thanks

I do hope they figure out something soon. I saw that the federal workers union is suing for having to work with no pay, so it's going to get messy pretty quick. Asking somebody to continue working while they can't pay rent and other bills is horrible, but this shutdown threat seems to have become the norm.

I seriously can't see the reason behind the democrats refusing to play tit for tat, give trump the wall and take the daca deal-hell I bet they could negotiate a really good deal if they put aside their hatred for trump....at least this is how I feel about it.

It's politics.

They're betting that their refusal to negotiate will force Trump to back down (or continue to make him responsible for a government shutdown) that will energize their voters and rally them behind the Democratic candidate in 2020.

If they are right, they will get whatever DACA deal they want anyway and won't have to build a wall that they (and I, honestly) think is a foolish waste of money.

Honestly, they have nothing to lose by not giving funding for the wall, and everything to gain.

I can appreciate your opinion because I know you think things through...personally I am for the wall.

What if you put that same amount of funding towards ICE so they can track down the larger issue of illegal immigration which is overstaying visa's? Would you trade the wall idea for that? And I mean really, really enforcing immigration laws.

what good is ice if more keep coming? I think ice should be used more for tracking down criminals and gang members-well actually they are the same.

I would prioritize the criminals thats for sure.

Its really easy to implement a cost effective (I bet it would save money from overstays, good investment) system that both discourages people to come here illegally by overstaying visa's and improve it. All they have to do is use a simple database and it would all be automated. Someone visits a country they check in through customs, get a stamps in their passport and they are logged into a computer. As soon as one overstays their VISA without asking for an extension, the automated system posts them as wanted by the F.B.I for immediate deportation and heavy fines imposed (well probably wont get much but more of a tactic, or seizing assets, etc...) and permanently be revoked visa rights for life unless a REALLY good reason comes up.

Put up a website, make their faces public.

How simple is that? You see, I should be President :) And of course I would hire a private (American) company to do it so its secure and reliable.

i'm not nearly as concerned about those over staying visa's as I am border jumpers..at least visa holders have been vetted in some way. border jumpers can just make up a new name and history-I bet only a small percentage of illegals use the name they were given at birth. we really have no clue what these peoples past history looks like...

a wall keeps them out...ice tracks them down once they are already here...at least that is my understanding.

Well, lets not get carried away....it helps deter them from cossing, but they will still come in. a wall isnt stopping border crossing, no way.

No wall in all of history can claim that and the definition of "the wall" changes weekly and usually isn't even an actual wall. Plus it only covers a very small percentage of the border. 5 billion can go toward a better system that protects us on all fronts. Trump dug himself into this hole, so blame the democrats all you want, but "the buck stops here" used to mean something.

Trump thought that him and his team could do this all on their own, but his team hates him and quit or were fired. He's pissed off all the democrats and most of the republicans in DC. The republicans that pretend to be on his side only do so out of fear of needing his backing for reelection and they will turn on him the first chance they see safety. His plan was to isolate us and back up campaign promises that were based on naivety and straight-up lies, so he also pissed off all of the surrounding countries that we need to make deals with to deal with immigration. And now he expects everybody to work with him and make a deal, but this isn't his former life where he could be a dick because he had enough money to keep people smiling. DC works on a completely different form of power.

Personally, I don't care if DACA lives or dies. I think it's the morally right thing to do, but I have no vested interest in it either way. If people want to keep claiming that this is a Christian nation, they should be in favor of DACA or for reforming it in someway to still help children. I personally don't think it's a fair trade for a $5 billion wall though. And let's be honest about that number. Trump is asking for $5 billion now. He'll demand more later. That wall will require upkeep and enhancements over the years, not to mention that it may just get torn down like many other walls have been.

wall or not...I think it is stupid not to have some kind of 'barrier' protecting a border that so many are seeking to cross illegally.

Wall would make it more difficult. The drugs will always find a way. (If there is money to be made someone will be doing it)
I think we need a Wall, Strong Ice and border security. And enforcing the laws we already have.
Make it harder to sneak in, The ones that sneak in being detained and deported.

Obama was actually pretty good at deporting illegals. The problem is it was about 1 in 50. (Can't control it without a wall and good security)

I always found it interesting listing to my step mom's dad's stories when he came in through ellis island and what he went through just to get there and why his dad sent them.
He was a great man and the one I learned most of my patriotism from growing up. always put up the flag and took it down every day. When he got older he put a couple of flood lights shining up the pole so he only had to take it down to replace it when worn.

CIA needs money....police state corporate complex propping up the War on Drugs need money....the politicians need their bri..I meant campaign contributions....there is alot of money to be made, its never going away.

If the wall goes up and that tranny Michelle is President he will pull off what his hubby Barry Soetoro did and order border patrol to stand down and let them through. You know he/she or Oprah will be our next president, that wall will be simply kept up to keep us Americans in and all the immigrants will be let flood through. Even if you want to rid of hard drug cartels you would have to start by abolishing the CIA because they will just fly them over.

Oh, and end the 'war' on drugs lining the pockets of those who support private prisons and the bull-sh!t police state.
We don't need a wall, we need to fire a whole lot of people, and legalize it. Put money into rehab.

It works.

Just gonna hold my breath here while the AM police, who cry to me about calling Trump's former illegal immigrant whore a former illegal immigrant whore, come and lecture you for this.

My mom is in the hospital waiting for surgery for a brain aneurysm, so I really don't have the time or energy to put up with your petty crybaby bull**** Alex.

That's...random. Maybe go focus on something more important than thinking that I'm talking about you when I've told you several times now that I don't initiate conversations with you. Or if you find this cathartic, let it out. Best of luck to your mom and let me know if you need the name of a good neurosurgeon.

Those top two have risen even higher in the administration and Catanzaro is back to lobbying. Despite running on the promise to get rid of lobbying, Trump undid restrictions that Obama put into place. And although Obama was a hypocrite with exemptions via ethics waivers, Trump made it so that they don't even have to disclose who is getting waivers.

Obama campaigned in '08 never to take a single penny of lobby money over and over again which was one of many reasons I voted for him back then before I found out he is a lying centipede caught inside the rim of a toilet bowl.

They are all the same....I tell people in real life (sorry, forums arent exactly "real life" ROFL!) Dump is Obama's 3rd term, nobody believes me.

private or not I support prisons...there are many people out there who should not be in society.

here in my small city the jail is overcrowded, judge ordered a new one built and do-gooders are fighting it....so what they do is just put even violent offenders on probation/house arrest-after conviction.

if you are arrested for even a violent crime you are let out until after sentencing. this is a bunch of nonsense, imo.

It's different only in which side we're all getting ****ed from. The end result is still the same for us.

I think he meant people put into prison for getting caught with drugs, sometimes longer than people who were convicted of violent crimes. I'm for reforming how people are jailed for drugs, which is a complicated issue. If you're just hurting yourself, then fine, do what you want. However, that isn't always the case which is where it gets tricky. But then I'm also for capital punishment when it comes to murder and rape which should free up some space.

As far as rehab goes, I'm not in favor of paying for other people's issues whether you want to argue that addiction is a disease or not. People need to hold themselves and their own families accountable. Every single one of my friends who has gone to rehab, beginning in high school, has simply come out with more connections and tricks. In my experience, unless the person being treated really wants to get clean, they're not going to.

I support prisons too, 100%. You have to ask yourself why is it overcrowded and what percentage of non-violent offenders are stuck in prison. Why spend 30k-60k a year in taxpayer money (Invalid Link Removed) a year on a kid who stole some shoes at a store or sold a bag of weed? You can put these kids in good colleges or vocational training for much less that that while simultaneously not screwing up their heads for life....just 1 example.

Calling out the corporate/private/judicial anti-Constitutional corruption doesnt equate to being "anti-prison."

yes, there is that...lol

I have a feeling she will run again based on she won the popular vote....and then there is Oprah, Pocahontas, and I think RuPaul I meant Michelle might run. Nothing to look forward too, lol.

If they put Fleshlight Face back as Speaker of the House, there is no reason not to believe they have intentions of propping up Hitlery again.

There are many many things wrong with our prison systems, but go to other countries... I’d rather be in the us than some of the places I’ve seen on locked up abroad. If you ask me the whole system is crooked, from the top to the bottom

don't get me started on things that are corrupt....for example if you would have told me 30 years ago I would be paying for bottled water I would have told you that you are crazy...privatization of water was a awful mistake due to corrupt politicians....but I still like being able to turn on a faucet and have tap water come out for dishwashing and showering, flushing toilet and washing clothes...same goes for prisons-of course there is corruption, but I can't imagine a society without prisons-not one I would want to live in at any rate!!!

you live long enough you realize corruption is everywhere, it aint never going to change, if anything it keeps getting worse.

I think the issue with capital punishment is that people are constantly aquitted of crimes after sentencing because of issues with the evidence used to convict them.

There are several hundred cases of innocent people going to jail and even put on death row for crimes they didnt commit. A lot of the time it is due to the incarcerated being of lower intelligence who is the taken advantage of by a morally bankrupt investigator. I've heard of countless cases where a police officer had already formulated in their minds who is the guilty one, planted evidence and then successfully convicted someone only for the case to fall apart many years down the track.

Heck there is even a netflix doco where 2 people are convicted of murder because they told investigators of a dream they had where they killed the person after it had happened. It later came out that the dreams didn't even come close to describing how the victim was killed or what they were wearing, but a jury convicted them all the same.

oprah likes being popular, she won't run...warren has too much baggage...michelle Obama is just to damned dumb....I see Hillary running again, she probably won't win nomination but that won't stop her.

but being dumb hasn't stopped people from running and actually becoming president, if michelle decides to run she has the best chance of those you have listed---she is way more popular than Hillary, and people[media] would make excuses for her due to popularity and color of skin just like they did for barrack.

omg...I just read what I posted---I hope I don't have nightmares thinking about michelle Obama as president:run:

privatization in general has been a disaster...I can't think of one thing that has benefited other than politicians wallets!!!

evidently the appeal system works....sometimes 20 years can pass between sentencing and execution....that is not counting stay of executions that are often given if questionable circumstances....name me some cases where an innocent person has been executed--I am sure there have been some in the past but currently the appeals process seems to be very diligent, at least imo

Approx 40 people have been executed despite strong claims of innocence.

144 people have been exonerated while on death row (often leads to mental illness and ptsd).

Study also claims 1 in 25 people are wrongly convicted of a crime and killed for it, however a lot of these go unnoticed because noone is seeking to exonerate someone after they are dead. A lot of peoe are presumed guilty, the evidence seems that way and they are killed for it and noone looks any further.

Hard to prove, but still a factor that we kill people who never committed the crime and we never find out they were innocent.

Id be for it if it was 100% open closed case. But a lot of cases are not like that.
