I agree with you completely.
What I do not understand is why people fight during an arrest in the first place.
I mean I understand, fear of being arrested, possible past convictions that will lead to long term jail time, fear of being killed during arrested, on drugs and not in the right frame of mind, whatever it may be.
The thing is, that's what we have a legal system for. You get arrested by the police, charged whatever they feel you should be charged with, and you go to court where the prosecutor and judge determines which charges stick, and what the suitable punishment is (or isn't).
I know the legal system is flawed, especially if you're appointed a public defender who may not take your case seriously, but is resisting arrest worth all the extra charges that come along with it and the possibility of losing your life?
