Donald Trump running for president

"Never Vote For An Incumbent"

Until people start doing that, we are all stuck with the same rigged system that we have. Two sides of the same coin slinging mud at each other in public, while secretly laughing at *you* and slapping each other on the back at Georgetown parties.

Scouting out where I want to go if trump or Hillary win lol

Im heavily studying Chinese, I may need to move to a communist country too seek more freedoms and liberties from Hitlery's new tyrannical regime.

Yeah, he likes that excuse ;)

I don't have a problem with income taxes.

Somebody obviously has to pay to keep interstate bridges from collapsing, and some boats and planes to go meet anyone trying to land on US shores... but I have a BIIIIIIIIG Problem with the current US Tax Structure. Flat Tax, National Sales Tax, or a "Wealth" Tax would be much fairer and actually let people get ahead (Even with a wealth tax, everyone would be paying less than they do now).

A flat tax would disproportionately affect poor people IMO. It favors the rich by far, while claiming "equality" for all. Poor people while still paying "only" a 10% flat tax would still have far less income to build their own wealth than someone who makes $1,000,000 a year.

I'll admit, I need to look up wealth tax and national sales tax. Also, I agree that the current tax structure

Somebody making 25,000 would be 2,500 less. 2.5 Million would be 250,000 less. This is America - I hope by "fair" you don't mean the first guy pays zero, and the second guy pays 2.475 Million in taxes, to be "fair"? :D

I don't get it, you work hard for it and thugs steal from you against your will. Don't comply and your life is destroyed.

Power to tax is the power to assassinate.

Flat tax with first $15k exempt will only help poor people. I was poor for years, I know what hurt me most and that was the income tax.

No, but having only $22,500 left after taxes is a lot harder to live on than $2,250,000. That's an enormous difference, especially when you consider that poor people spend far more of their income on things like fuel, groceries, housing etc., than the rich.

I've also known many poor people over the years that buy more useless crap than rich people, and/or drop every last penny to make sure they keep their entertainment on at home.

Plus to make it worse they buy cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, crap junk food, lotto scratch offs, etc....

That, IMO, is the result of the consumer economy that places social pressure on people that is very hard to resist.

I agree that people spend far too much on crap, but it seems like you wouldn't want someone telling you how to spend your money ;)

Crap junk food is cheap because of the subsidization of crappy farm products.

Add that to the lack of places to buy quality food in poor neighborhoods and you get bad food choices.

You think poor people can afford to go to Whole Foods?

No need for whole foods, but when I see people buying ice cream with food stamps and making a separate cash purchase to buy $80 in cigarettes and beer this is a serious issue.

You don't need health food stores to eat right. Chicken is cheap, oatmeal, eggs, certain veggies, etc.

If it wasn't for my wife's hobby of eating out I can eat healthy at less of a cost than the average poor person eats crap. Speaking from what I've seen with my own eyes for many years.

People can do what they want, but they need to take personal responsibilities for their decisions and not on my tax dollar. I'd rather hand poor people money myself at my choosing.

Also, if you think about it, the current tax structure is pretty equitable.

It is structured with tax brackets, which means that everyone in a bracket pays the same rate. The first part of your income is not taxable (which varies according to filing status, tax credits, etc.), and you aren't taxed on your entire income, just that part that puts you into the bracket.

Currently the super rich, who don't even get most of their money from income, are taxed at about 15% due to the capital gains tax rate.

The government throws our own troops in hospital basements to rot to death to cut costs, no way in hell I accept governments role in helping people on my dollar.

I was wondering when I would hear the "personal responsibility" mantra ;)

So, based on your limited observations, all poor people buy crappy food with their food stamps?

Invalid Link Removed

I guess poor people should have no pleasure? Maybe the ice cream was for a birthday party, did you ask them? Maybe the time you saw them buy a candy bar was the one they alot themselves for the month. Seems a bit judgmental to me.

Honestly, if my tax dollars can make a poor child happy for one day, it's worth it. I've been poor too and it's pretty ****ing miserable to have to worry about food and money all the time as a kid.

Just got out of the grocery store too, 98% were buying pure crap I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. So yeah most welfare people buy crap too.

Figures. Provide proof and you ignore it. Pretty much expected that :frustrate

Then perhaps it is a stupid American cultural phenomenon, rather than the "takers"?

A lot of them are at fault to, being that I live in a liberal area the majority vote for big government health care so yeah they are takers too and want to get their arteries cleaned out on my dollar.

It's cutting season, hardcore attitude towards food please excuse me lol

I completely disagree. I don't like to see waste, but public education, free and reduced lunches for lower income kids, support for disabled people, etc are all places I don't mind helping out.

Just because I was fortunate enough not to be born into a poor situation doesn't mean I don't realize all the success factors that are out of people's hands.

The free market solutions of saying "tough **** not my problem" seems like a very cold thing in a society as advanced as we are. Fraud is something that should be stamped out we can all agree on, but let's not act like it's only poor people. Take a look at corporate socialism and the military.

If someone does not have health insurance should they die?

I was a food stamp kid....one year I didnt eat for the first 1/2 of the entire school year. It was humiliating. I hated government assistance. There was no reason my father couldnt give me a packed lunch everyday to take to school, its not like he couldnt afford it. Looking back on it, I feel guilty ever using the food stamp card, its stolen money.

I have no problem helping people in need, but I would like to have a choice as to who I help rather than someone stealing it against my will at gunpoint and deciding when my money goes and paying for all the bureaucracy that goes with it. I have less money because of this and have particular group I would like to help out more than anything. At least I know my money went in the proper hands.

You do realize that charity can't possible cover all of the need, right? What is the first spending to go down in a recession? Charity. Which is precisely when more people need more help.

No, and there is no reason why they cant go to the doctor and get help. People with health insurance die, along with government assistance people including the vets.

Before government came in and made health care skyrocket through the roof with managed care, you can just go to the doctor and ask for help. If you had no money they wont refuse you for the most part. Doctors took a medical oath (which now is only optional) to help patients. You can give what you can, and if you cant you can give later or just not pay. There used to be alot of volunteer clinics back in the day, those are mostly gone now.

Insurance is just a service from a private company that you can opt to pay for. It measures cost vs risk. Its there just in case shyt hits the fan. Its not supposed to be health care, thats why its so expensive, its not insurance anymore. The system is ruined.

Neither does socialism.

How much do you spend on people in need per year? Don't you think some of these things came into existence because the kindness of strangers wasn't enough to help out all situations? What if in a completely free market no one helps out?

Just bad luck for those born into bad situations? Tough break if you don't have legs to pull yourself up by the bootstraps?
