Donald Trump running for president

I just saw Trumps announcement that he is running for president, I also just saw where he's being dropped from selling his clothing line from a large clothing chain and he was fired from NBC. Any thoughts on him running for president? Does he have a chance?

interesting looking at how things are going for him since the start of this thread.

For all you single payer socialized medicine fans that tout Sweden as an example of how it works so well, why are people moving to private insurance?

It's getting scary now. Could potentially be the worst thing to ever happen to the U.S.

Don't be a p*ssy like Cruz. Vote for Trump. The world is ready. And if they're not f*ck them too. Right? Am I right? Fu*k the rest of the world and their stupid opinion of us. I mean everyone is so hung up on the world not respecting us because of Obama. Let's vote for Trump and get their respect back.

COGNITIVE DISSONANCE AT IT'S FINEST!!

Here's a screenshot from the report. Note it says private insurance gives faster care.

It certainly will, and can also bankrupt individuals (even with insurance), which shouldn't ever be the case. Everyone should have access to quality healthcare without it causing people to go bankrupt. And if it's managed properly, premiums (or taxes for social health care) do not have to be very high. But the US is corrupt and has a broken system.

Tell that to Canada! Everyone is jealous of their health care system, including most Americans.

I dont think Id be jealous in the waiting room.

But the US is corrupt and has a broken system.

This is excactly why you should never support socialized medicine. All governments are subject to corruption and the last thing we need is government intervention on our health care system. Canada will sooner or later get hit either when government needs to make budget cuts or the money runs out.

Yeah, vote for Trump....I can imagine him getting in an argument with Xi Xiping....the Chinese are willing to go to war just for "loosing face."

Go to hell Canada! You can take your health care system and stick it!

In 2013, a typical Canadian family of four can expect to pay $11,320 for public health care insurance. For the average family of two parents with one child that bill will be $10,989, and for the average family of two adults (without children) the bill comes to $11,381. As a result of lower average incomes and differences in taxation, the bills are smaller for the average unattached individual ($3,780), for the average one-parent-one-child family ($3,905), and the average one-parent two-child family ($3,387). But no matter the family type, the bill is not small, much less free.

And the bill is getting bigger over time. Before inflation, the cost of public health care insurance went up by 53.3 per cent over the last decade. That's more than 1.5 times faster than the cost of shelter (34.2 per cent) and clothing (32.4 per cent), and more than twice as fast as the cost of food (23.4 per cent). It's also nearly 1.5 times faster than the growth in average income over the decade (36.3 per cent).

The insurance companies are far more corrupt, they're in bed with doctors, pharma companies, etc etc.... It's all a big money game. This is what privatization endorses. Extreme corruption with minimal restrictions/supervision.

I wouldnt risk my life, lol

As a Canadian living in America, the quality of care was far greater in most cases in Canada, and far cheaper. The hospitals were in better shape, in most cases more modern than here too.

So this is how I know you are completely full of $h!t on this topic, and just talking out your a$$ lol

Why not? Have you ever been treated in Canada? I don't think anyone here can comment unless they have. I used to live there, remember ;)

Just wondering, how much innovation have the government run doctors and scientists contributed in the field vs. a capitalist society? I never looked into this yet, but I can guess.

How is it cheaper? You get taxed right?

Im not sticking up for the American health care system as it is now just to be clear. Im for patient to doctor relationship and paying them directly in cash. Get the middle man out both government and insurance companies. Insurance is just a policy you buy in case anything bad happens, it shouldnt be about getting checkups and co[-pays, and all that stupid stuff.

Oh so now we're talking about scientific research companies, instead of health care/hospitals? The topic here is public health care brutha... But 'socialist' Canada has their fair share of private research companies too.

My taxes in Toronto were far less than my taxes in NYC, and as a city, they are not very different. Toronto (GTA) has 5 million people, and 5 extremely large boroughs. Larger than every American city except for NYC, so you can't argue that "well ya, you're living in NYC, of course your taxes are going to be extreme".

Canada's taxes are not THAT much more than America's.

Its all 100% related....good health care comes from willing doctors who have the incentive to innovate. Im sure Canada has alot of smart people I didnt really mean it like that.

In my previous post I posted some #'s....they seemed a bit extreme to me. Im not a fan of NYC or America's tax system at all Im kinda stuck condemning both systems, lol

For the record though: Health care in Canada is delivered through a publicly funded healthcare system, which is mostly free at the point of use and has most services provided by private entities.

This is key.

How can you say publicly funded and free at the same time? "Publicly funded" by that you mean taxes right? If thats the case you cant say its free at all.

Everyone thinking healthcare should be better, should see how it's done elsewhere, like in Paraguay:

Free at the point of service (no copays, etc). Pre-paid through taxes. I took that wording from wikipedia.

Haha, exactly. Who cares what the rest of the world thinks, we're exceptional! ;) We don't need anything from any other country at all.

actually the waiting room at the old wishard hospital in Indianapolis used to look just like that...not to mention that none of those people look like they have life threating issues which is what the emergency room used to be used for!!!

Since the ambulance is broken, people with life threatening issues don't make it to the waiting room, lol

I have been sick with the flu and have had a lot of time for watching election coverage....after hours and hours of thinking about this I have come to the conclusion that if Hillary is elected there will be an uprising in this country!!!!

I feel the same way about Trump, Cruz or Rubio.

Comparing Paraguay to Canada and Sweden is a bit disingenuous and a strawman at best.

I was comparing Paraguay to wishard hospital in Indianapolis...my aunt just had basic medicare[it was all she could afford] and had to go to wishard when she was alive, I used to take her sometimes-it was horrible and the majority of people waiting were Hispanic!!!

unlike many of the Hispanics in the waiting room she was born in this country and paid into the social security system her entire life---I guess this is a case of not getting what you paid for!!!

by the way, my aunt was diagnosed with polio at 4 years old and spent her life in a wheelchair, this did not stop her-she worked for 40 years at goodwill industries as a seamstress just to be dumped in a pile with many illegal aliens waiting for free care that they do not deserve and never paid for...this is totally unfair, imo

Wait, wait! So you are assuming that many in that waiting room were:

1. Illegal
2. Receiving free care

Simply because they were Hispanic? Did you check their IDs?

do you want to bet a paycheck that the majority of them were citizens paying for their care...if you do then I want that bet every day of very week!!!!!

Nope, I get paid monthly from my main job ;) Also not a betting man.

I'm also not willing to stereotype people simply my the color of their skin and/or ethnicity. That would be called racism ;)

Contrary to popular propaganda, Emergency Care is the only form of medical assistance available to illegals. So I don't doubt this to be true.
