I remember seeing some idiots destroying property and whatnot in response to Trump being elected. Maybe they're not the most recent protests, or the ones going on right now, but there have definitely been some since it was announced that Trump won the election. I'm glad that they're not violent now; there is plenty to protest peacefully, and peaceful protests can actually encourage debate, not just hate, anger, and divisiveness.

Agreed. I also don't agree with violent protest. It's pointless and only turns people against you.
 
I believe the violent protests were from some faction group for Anarchy. They were on the periphery breaking windows, and causing disarray. Quite sad really, when you consider the majority of the protesters had nothing to do with those idiots.

That was at the inauguration.
The new protests have all been incredibly peaceful. Not one arrest, and millions have participated across the country.

It's all about free speech.

Your continued talk of all Muslims as terrorists has done that. I'm not going to go back through all of your posts, so if you deny that, you're lying. You have continually made blanket statements about the entire religion.

As for your stats, you made a big deal about how only 1% of refugees let in from Syria were Christian, suggesting that Obama was keeping the other Christians out. I corrected you by stating that the entire country is only made up of 10% Christian, so the fact that there are way more Muslims being persecuted and let in is simply population numbers and not any kind of bias. But you're on board with only focusing on help one religion which is a bigoted viewpoint. I have urged you several times now to at least get educated on the subject because it's obvious that you're copy and pasting these so called "facts" while not understanding the religion or its people at all. Can we now move on because this bores me?

harassing him and others during his art installation. A live video feed protesting Donald Trump's Presidency.

His disdain for Muslims is so apparent. He tries to cover it up by saying that they would be more comfortable amongst their own kind in a Muslim country. I call BS, personally.

I'm concerned about the many foreigners that work at my university who may be affected by this ban. They are making great advancements in medical research that can help all of humankind.

Muslims have been great contributors to math and science for a long time. Every culture/race/ethnicity has great things to offer, as well as some things that aren't so good.

I simply answered your question and posted stats on what the EU classified the Syrian Christian persecution as being a genocide. I haven't made blanket statements about all Muslims being terrorists. I've made statements about the muslims that are terrorists. I'm glad you're still here after Gutterpump got the ax. We still have someone to tell us how uneducated everyone else is.

If I recall during that conversation you agreed with the sentiment that Muslims would be more comfortable with familiar culture and surroundings. I said it and you went off the drep end. Big T said the same thing and you finally had a moment of reason and agreed with him.

The more I think about it, the more it seems like a cop out. What if they don't want to go to another Muslim country? Many just want to escape. Did you ever think they might want to come to America because of the promise of freedom and prosperity for their family?

And you're right, I did think it sounded reasonable at first. However, it was an insidious idea to me the more I deliberated over it.

Now I think it is a thinly veiled excuse for bigotry and intolerance.

Why did it have to be a video, I'd rather read the text and analysis than have to take the time to watch a video with special effects and whatnot. He does have a point, although, as I've said a plethora of times and will continue to say, what Trump is doing is really nothing new or unprecedented, and, if anything, he'll probably just follow the trend towards tyranny and control that Bush and Obama have set us on for the last 16 years. SSDD.

So all your anthropology experience or studies proves me wrong. People don't instinctively gravitate and cluster with people of same culture or background.

Why are there are Chinatowns or Koreatowns in various cities. Why do Asians typically try to have other Asians come do work for them. Etc. Before you start on how bigoted or racists that sounds, it's true. As a field technician for alms 20 years installing service all over VA, and WV, I've encountered many bsinesses getting ready to open and still have plenty of work to do. Guess who the Asian restaurant owner has finishing the tile floors? Another Asian. I guess he's racist for it then.

The USA has been very open for Muslims coming here and there is no reason to believe the contrary will be true moving forward other than over reactions to rather mild war time policies.

Just an observation, but the internet is such an amazing tool for knowledge and education that enough people aren't using nearly to it's potential. Even many "poor" people have significantly greater access to knowledge and information than even the greatest, most powerful kings could have possibly imagined. I prefer having physical books, but there are quality free online versions of many great and influential books, which I do like using when I want to find a certain word/phrase/idea/etc using the search function. From my list, Tao Te Ching, NRSV Bible, Meditations, and The Art of War all have good free online texts available, and so does Plato's Republic and Autobiography of a Yogi.

I actually confused Crime and Punishment with On Crime and Punishment, written by Cesare Beccaria in 1764, and referenced by Thomas Jefferson.

I also really like Anthem by Ayn Rand. It was a quick and easy read, not massive like Atlas Shrugged.

Other books that I enjoyed but maybe aren't in the same vein as these are Arnold's Education of a Bodybuilder and Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding.

All Muslims from different countries have the exact same culture? That's simplistic and bigoted IMO.

Of course they will gather in enclaves within a city, what's wrong with that? How is it any different from white people fleeing the inner city for the suburbs (aka white flight)? If you moved to another country, wouldn't you more than likely gravitate towards other Americans or English speakers? It doesn't mean you don't want to live there or hate it there.

Also many countries in the Middle East are already struggling with refugees as it is.

Dont devout Muslims pray 5 times a day? Would a Muslim person feel more comfortable in a country where it's common to find a majority of the population praying 5 times a day? Or is it better to send someone to another country where they don't speak the language as well as have similar customs and beliefs?

So now not only all Muslims share a common culture, but all speak the same language as well? Yes the Qur'an is written in Arabic, but not all Muslims speak Arabic.

Here's a generalization of you and all Christians:

All Christians pray every day, go to church on Sunday during the day and evening, Sunday School, Wednesday nights and possible another Bible study during the week.

Do you do exactly that?

If not, why can't there be diversity amongst Muslims? There are devout and less devout Muslims as well. You characterized every Muslim as praying at the same time every day, the same number of times every day.

Not every Muslim puts their religion first in their cultural identity either.

You also assume that all Muslims don't speak English. That's also untrue. I'll have to find the actual studies, but many are quite fluent in English.

While this is true and people do gravitate toward like groups - they do so out of choice. Now they choose to seperate themselves and you're saying no, go be with your own people (not in those words but you get my point).
