This thread is literally a place to rant - nothing is going to change by what is said here. It's just a place to discuss and rant about the things you like and dislike about the direction is heading.
Americans have been skewimg the terms Socialism, Marxism and Communism for as long as I can remember - which stems back to the Cold War Era. I literally cringe everytime I hear someone use those terms, especially because they are often used out of context or in the completely wrong capacity.
For you though, it's seen almost as an insult. But for others it's really not. Because those who know what actual Communism is defined as knows the US is a far-cry from becoming it. You are literally trained to hate it, because it represents everything your political ideals are, but in reality the people who benefit are those who start wars - not those who participate actively in them.
You guys literally argue against your own best interests. A lot of gang violence, petty crime and opportunistic crime can be prevented simply by pulling people out of poverty. And that doesn't have to be through extensive welfare programs, it can be through workers being paid a livable wage. A lot of top companies have literally said a wage increase wouldn't hurt their balance sheets, but they still oppose a wage increase anyway because it is less profits for the company, and therefore less money for shareholders. It is not YOU who loses out if a Mcdonalds employee earns a livable wage, but the powers-that-be have literally convinced you that the poor are the enemy.
The US is facing a shortage of workers in low paid capacities because many people refuse to work full-time for a company that pays very little and provides no benefits. If a person can get more on welfare, then that speaks volumes about how little remuneration some companies provide. No person should ever get more from welfare than they could from a profitable company.
The brunt of the tax is paid for by low and working class citizens. And it is the middle class who have been told to hate the poor, rather than push back against those who don't pay their fair share. You would literally pay less tax IF the biggest companies in the country and their top-level managers actually paid tax.
Obviously people hate tax. But it is a reality. But instead of directing your energy to people who's incomes eclipse yours by more than 1000%, you'd rather hate on the poor. It is absolutely bizarre.
